   My wife and I had a lovely anniversary dinner. I had the mussels best I have ever had my wife had the fish soup which was lovely , we both had fish and chips - brilliant

   On this recent visit to Fishers in the City the food was good but the service was quite poor. The overall impression from our waitress was that she couldn't care less and she showed little interest in or warmth towards us as customers. My main course of monkfish and king prawn curry was, according to the menu, supposed to be served with an accompaniment of poppadoms and mango chutney - they failed to arrive when the main courses were served. Not only did she fail to notice this but also she didn't check back a few minutes later to see if all was ok with our main courses. After 10 minutes I managed to attract the attention of another member of the waiting staff to ask if I could be served the missing items - this lack of attention to detail lets this restaurant down! There's also too little time between courses - they seem intent on serving food very quickly to get customers out the door and the next ones in - it's disappointing as their fish and seafood dishes deserve better.

   We are regular diners and always find the food and service of a high standard. Staff are attentive and well trained.

   Food excellent, although plethora of menus a little unhelpful. Limited choice fisheater - but thenwhygo. Room gets hot and stuffy if busy. Staff excellent. Worth going.

   Came here whilst in Edinburgh for the weekend. Huge choice of fish and seafood on the menu and the lobster with garlic was the highlight. Also had the best chips I've had in ages. Wine list was white heavy and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient.

   Phenomenal food. The fish curry was the best I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back.

   we like to go for a late lunch to avoid the crowds and Fishers in the City accommodated us perfectly. Not too busy at that time of day - on a Saturday - although previous attempts found them fully booked. Food was excellent, service was friendly and attentive without encroaching unduly and was overall an outstanding experience for the price.

    Lunch for 4 for my father's birthday. Excellent choice of seafood starters and mains as well the likes of steak and duck as alternatives. Large wine list and other beverages available. Prompt, polite and unobtrusive service. Well worth a visit if you've never been before. Not a 'regular' but have returned on several occasions.
