Finn's Seafood, Chops and Cocktails
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here - being from the Prairies, we wanted some local seafood. It was an outstanding meal, and the crab ravioli is seriously one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was beyond great and the atmophere cozy. Thank you Finn's!
This is the place I brag about and bring out-of-town guests to. The salmon we ordered was overcooked which was disappointing.
The food and service were excellent, but I wish they’d post the day’s market value for their lobster somewhere or mention it in an opening blurb, so one doesn’t have to somewhat awkwardly ask them for it.
Otherwise, no complaints.
View of the harbor was beautiful at sunset. The wait staff was friendly. The service was fast and the food was good.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious entrees and wonderful service. Could not understand why most of the diners were placed in a side room (ours was next to the hostess stand with reservations thru open table) while the restaurant was empty! A few fortunate diners were sitting there. Much better ambience in the main dining room. Or, better ambiance for us in the side room would have been away from the hostess stand. Nice fireplace though.
After reading all the reviews we were simply left disappointed. I ordered a nice piece of pacific salmon but sadly it was way overcooked, service was so so, 1 of our drinks never showed up.. Not terrible, just expecting a lot more from this restaurant especially at those prices.
Amazing! Staff was very friendly and attentive, food was delicious, I loved the seafood fettuccine. They even brought my husband a free birthday dessert with a sparkler instead of a candle. So fun and thoughtful, we'll definitely return!
We had a wonderful lunch in the sunroom. It was a sunny day in February and it was so warm the windows were open and the fans were on. The service was excellent and the food was good. We will be back .
Finn's Seafood is a beautiful historic restaurant in downtown Victoria with a wonderful atmosphere, wonderful service and a delicious menu. We have had dinner there many times as it has become our favourite restaurant. We are continuously impressed! Thank you Finn's!
This place has great food ~ The price is little bit above our expectation but reasonable:) The server is very friendly and energetic.
For the price, there are better places to eat downtown Victoria. We had great mussels, but the steam bowl was over $30 and tasted like frozen seafood in dishwater. There was maybe $5 worth of seafood in the bowl, and a single cup of rice. My wife's salad outshined one of their signature meals... that's pretty weak for a "seafood" restaurant.
We also were having a special occasion anniversary and told the restaurant that when we booked the table. Requested a romantic table in advance. Our "romantic" table was a sticky plywood table in the middle of a bright, noisy warehouse feeling room with too many tables. We literally only stayed because we didnt feel like walking around looking for something else. We wont be back. :(
The food was outstanding, we were sitting in the outdoor patio area, the view was nice but could use some updating/refresh in the furnishings and wall colour.
Always a treat. The food, service and location are excellent!
This restaurant is very close to downtown and the food is excellent. I had the Fish and Chips and was blown away by the freshness and presentation. Kudos to all.
Valentines night out... Lovely view, accommodating staff, good food... who could ask for more?
Fanny bay oysters - outstanding
Steak - was done perfect!
Seafood stem bowl - was fantastic!
Chocolate gouache dessert - outstanding.
Only thing (and I know it's the same price everywhere) but really $40.00 for bottle of wine??? Its is a $14 bottle at the liquor stores, who are also making a profit.....!!!!
Again, I know that is the price everywhere, No issue at all paying $$$$ for a well prepared/cooked meal, that is a skill.....but uncorking a bottle and putting a markup of 5x.
We though will be back together and with family friends that come to visit.
Thank you for a very nice e Valentine's.
The starters made a fine meal for us two. Excellent taste, imaginative combinations/fusions and nicely presented. Our server was knowlegable and friendly. The view is outstanding; the location central for walking and sightseeing. Altogether an excellent choice.
Sunday evening, Victoria's annual Dine Around: Finn's was strangely unpopulated. We chose to eat in the front-of-house pub rather than the somewhat more elegant dining room behind the bar, because the final few minutes of Super Bowl LIV were showing on the screen. The ambience improved after a nearby foursome of young people dropping F-bombs departed, just as we were starting our appetizers. Yes, we're old fogeys.
The wine list was short, but an old favourite, Babich Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, suited us fine.
The appetizers were small, which is good! The main course (rockfish for both of us) was delicious, as were both of the desserts: Pot de Crème and Key Lime Pie in a jar. We were pleasantly surprised.
Our waiter, Brody, was charming, attentive and efficient. We could not have asked for better service.
So pleased Finns is open on Sundays.
Went to the theatre with 3 friends and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Delicious food! Friendly and courteous staff. Cozy environment. We had a great night out at Finn's. And we'll be back!
Our experience did not match expectations based on other reviews on OpenTable. The food was OK but just that. The service started well but became inattentive, even though it was not busy. I would expect that a 3-course meal being offered for $40 during Dine Victoria would normally be $50 to 60. It was well overpriced at $40.
Service was very good and the food was great
Excellent food and service with great view of Victoria's harbour. The historic nature of the building adds a lot to the experience too.
First time at this restaurant, brought to our atention by Dine Around, and we won't be back. Our server was lovely and really tried hard. My partner went in ahead so I could park. When I arrived a few minutes later the hostess didn't know which table he was seated at and asked me to walk around to find the table. The food was just okay. The bread didn't arrive with soup even though we had ordered it with the soup. My partner had the porkchop which was okay - huge piece but a bit dry. I had the rock fish with pesto risotto. I didn't know it was risotto let alone pesto. It was overdone, mushy and was over powered by mint. The keylime pie was the best part of dinner. With so many choices of places to eat, I would pass on this one.
It was a very nice evening. We even had a window table. We have 1 small complaint. When our main couse was brought to the table, the empty, dirty starter plate and bowl were not removed.
Tucked into a back corner, beside a fireplace, with good friends, no other tables around, an unobtrusive but attentive wait staff, mediocre appies but fairly decent if not decadent main and a fabulous key-lime dessert to finish off (and by "fabulous" i mean equal to the best in Key West)... how would you rate that? A memorably epic night out with fiends, in my books. Doesn't suck.
I enjoyed my meal. I have eaten lunch at Finn's and enjoyed it. My only complaint is that we were in a very small booth. It was raining quite hard and I had a wet coat and umbrella. There was no where to put them and had to put my wet coat beside me on the small bench and hold my umbrella between my knees. An area or a hook to hang coats would be helpful.
We dined there for the Dine Around Victoria three course meal. This is the first time we had eaten at Finn's. The food was delicious, and flavourful. The service was exceptional and we will absolutely be back.
Lovely dinner with excellent service. There was a slight hiccup with one of our orders, and it was addressed swiftly and professionally. There was a birthday party upstairs that got a bit loud but other than that, the atmosphere was great.
For some reason (even though the restaurant was not full and we had a reservation) we were sat on an outer area that is more of a closed in balcony area that was quite cold. Waitress was great and the food overall was good
Outstanding service and quality food. Made our birthdays special
The Thai curry with shell fish was excellent, but there was No Ginger Beer for the Pimms No.1, only with ginger ale. Pimms No.1 is much better with fermented and brewed ginger beer. Fentimans, Fever-tree, Bundaberg or Brentford (in Port Angeles), no soda look-a-likes....and No Potato Vodka! Most people think Vodka is made from potatoes and they are much smoother, but most are made with grain and are rough in comparison. Chopin, Stoli, Luksusowa….. We'll see you again, but please get some fermented ginger beer and potato Vodka!
We had a great time dining. We requested for a seat with a seaside view which they provided. The food and the service were excellent.
Spent New Years Eve dining ,,It was very very nice,,great food and atmosphere
so good!! flavor in each bite. nice atmosphere e very good service!
THIS IS ABEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT;GREAT LOCATION, GREAT MARTINIS,GREAT SEAFOOD; MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THE STEAKS WREN'T AS GOOD AS WE EXPECTED;SLIGHTLY TOUGH UNFORTUNATELY.
Went for New Years Eve. Service was great, our table was ready and we got prompt, friendly and attentive service. The food was very good, cooked very well but not outstanding. The desserts, however, were both outstanding. We shared two desserts between three of us and they were definitely the dishes of the day. We found the mains to be very good but a little underwhelming.
Very nice night food good. Only suggestion is that more time be allowed between main course and appys!
Nice location on the waterfront but, considering the price, the food was just okay.
Excellent! Nothing short of excellent! Went there for a family gathering and it did not disappoint.
