FIG & OLIVE Chicago

Mushroom starter was incredible!
Very lovely as usual. Celebrating a birthday. The piece of birthday cake was 1”square w/2 raspberries. Really after a $90 lunch with no alcohol could they have spared it. Felt it was an insult.
I order a steak medium well but it was very cooked😑
Everything was quite good. Service was great. I just felt like while the food was good it was overpriced even by Chicago standards.
The dj they had for New Year’s Eve was incredibly loud! Also we had the price fix menu and I ordered the filet. I was told they were out of filet. The waiter informed me that they had one left. Once he brought out my filet it was clearly not a filet. The steak I was given was clearly a sirloin and not what I paid for.
Experience was awesome, drinks were strong and food was great!
The food is good, but the host stand process is bogus. Expect to wait an additional hour+ beyond your reservation. This has happened 2 out of 2 occasions. Good food, not worth the nonsense. I won't return, Chicago has way too many quality restaurants to deal with this shotty setup.
The food was delicious. We had Chateau Briand and Sea Bass. All were quite satisfied. The salads are sizable and can be shared. The wine selection is sparse but the offerings are good. We have dined here four times and will continue to return.
Appreciate staff that provides good input for menu items.
Great atmosphere, very Average food
Service was great. Food was very average - apps and dessert were decent, but entrees were incredibly disappointing. The decor was pretty.
We had just heard that Fig & Olive food is frozen, which started us out with low expectations. The bread and olive oil were good. One drinks was ok, but 2 were not. Some crostinis were good (like the manchego) but others like the shrimp were not. The mushroom croquettes were tasty, but because nothing was wowing us and it seemed inconsistent- we decided to leave, and have entrees elsewhere. For such a beautiful space, I’d expect the food & drinks to match.
Best meal we’ve had in a long time. Beautiful decor and lovely ambiance for a mother/daughter post-Mag Mile shopping lunch.
ALSO Great signature Fig & Olive drink served by awesome bartender (who mentioned his St. Bernard in conversation).
Especially loved the caramelized onion crostini appetizer and the shrimp fettuccine main course. Everything else was delicious, but these are worth coming back for!
We have dined here for lunch many times and have never experienced such slow and subpar service. It was disappointing to wait so long for our order to be taken and the food to be delivered room temperatures, especially when the restaurant was nowhere near full. Disappointing service. Not sure we'll be back for awhile!
Fig and Olive is one of our most favorite places to go for special occasions. The location and ambiance is beautiful m- service always amazing and the food is wonderful! We always get the crostinis assortment - and they even make it gluten free. Today I had the pumpkin risotto- amazing!!!! If you are visiting the Gold Coast- Fig and Olive is a definite must!
Fun place with lots of energy!
I brought my wife and daughters here for our annual Xmas eve dinner out. Turned out to be a disappointment. We were seated at a table behind the bar and waiting a long time for anyone to take care of us. First we ordered appetizers and they were not delivered together...we had to ask for the second to be brought out. We waited another stretch before we could order our meals and then waited a good 20 minutes before the waiter came back and told my wife they were out of the steak. This was a limited special menu of four entrees (chicken, salmon, steak and risotto) and they ran out by 7:30pm? It was really disappointing to settle for the chicken for a special dinner. We waited another 30 minutes until our meals were delivered. I heard the waiter behind me instructing another server to get the tables cleared quickly and, sure enough, the minute my daughter and I finished eating our entrees they cleaned our plates away and tried to take the half-eaten mashed potatoes from the middle of the table as well before I spoke up and told him we weren't finished. Then we sat with our places cleared while the others finished their chicken...and immediately had their plates taken to keep us moving. We ordered a few deserts and while we ate them, the bartender carted the dirty mats out from behind the bar, right past our table, so he could shut it down too. This was only 8:30 pm. I realize it was Xmas eve and people want to get home to their families, but your restaurant is open and we are still paying money to eat here. I thought we deserved a little more respect and care in how we were treated. The food was good, but it's a pricier restaurant and the people were so short and inconsiderate that I won't be coming back again. It was really uncomfortable. It's usually difficult to get a reservation on Xmas eve and now I understand why this restaurant wasn't that tough to book.
Worst meal we ever had! This was the second chance given. Thought maybe first time it was just an off night. Wrong!!
Celebrated Christmas Eve, had the best seat in the house, great pre fixe menu, great service. Thank you so much! We will be back soon. Always a great dining experience at Fig & Olive.
Service was outstanding. Food was very good.
We love this place, which is just a few blocks from our place at Gold Coast and became our "go to" spot with friends and family, for brunch, lunch or dinner. The ambience is always vibrant and classy. Our "old fashioned" drink is always well prepared. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. You can't miss: the selection of Crostinis for appetizer, the duck or risotto for main course and any dessert.
Food was NOT GOOD! Octopus was very chewy and sea food paella was not fresh, chewy and undercooked when I asked waitress 2 times if we can make sure what I ordered was cooked since I am 6 months pregnant. We ordered bottle of wine and they gave us unlabeled bottle of some kind we couldn’t tell the grape ... all over all when we asked waitress about the wine she was rolling her eyes. This was our Christmas dinner with the family out off town and we were very disappointed. We are definitely not going back ever again!
Great new menu
Birthday dinner. Slow to get to our table, but the service was great
Drinks were watered down. Seating was later than scheduled and service was slow but server was wonderful when he did come. Even bought us a bottle of wine as he felt bad. Was a busy night for them which likely contributed. However so many great places on Chicago would go elsewhere
Our server was excellent. Very attentive and friendly which made it a great dining experience.
Deliciously consistent with great service & relaxing ambiance!
The atmosphere was so delightful and the food was so so good. Highly recommend
Great experience. Great food. The Prix fix option was great.
Our waitress was polite but very much in a hurry. She was efficient but really didn't take time to answer questions or explain anything. I felt rushed.
The space is decorated in spectacular fashion and is quite the buzzing hot spot. We were seated near speakers so conversation was difficult for us. Concerning the food:
Crostini appetizers- Tiny bites that were tasty but way over-priced and too few
cauliflower with pine nuts - Tasty but way over sauced and the nuts because soggy and the dish very heavy
Duck breast - Medium rare request and it was closer to well, therefore tough and under-seasoned
Pork tenderloin - Tough and under-seasoned, and not medium rare as requested
Butternut squash soup - Very Good
We ordered crostini for the table but it was brought with our entree unfortunately.
My 4th visit, hadnt been there in a few years. Pretty restaurant.food is okay.
Birthday lunch! Crostini was fabulous.... as was the wine!
Overall it was ok. My risotto was actually very cold when it came to the table; however, the service was excellent and we had a great time.
One meal came cold but they did apologize and bring out a warm plate.
I always have a great experience at fig and olive. Our waitress was friendly and personable and the menu is always good. It was nice to have an easy reservation on Sunday morning for brunch (which can be quite difficult in Chicago). The menu has a lot of different choices to accommodate a number of different palates and the price point is affordable. Good Service, Good Food, Good Atmosphere A+++
went out for my birthday. a group of 7. we waited an hour to get seated. i kept asking and asking if our table was going to be ready. i have to admit i was VERY FRUSTRATED with the wait time and seeing a ton of people getting sat before us.
when we finally got to our table we got complimentary glasses of vueve for all seven of us and every singe crostini waiting for us. after that the service was absolutely amazing!!!!!!
i wish i remembered the servers name but he was amazing. the manager even came up to us and apologized.
although it started off a little rock the service made up for it and i will ABSOLUTELY be back just because of how amazing everyone was.
Always a great spot to visit. Delicious food with fantastic ambience.
