Our waitress MImi was awesome!
Everything was delicious and can’t wait to go back again.
Made a reservation on OpenTable (they called to confirm which I didn’t understand). We got there on time at 1:30. Weren’t seated until 2. I got the basic breakfast and the eggs were rubbery- just not good. Bread was great! And they gave us free crustini for the wait which was nice. No one lived their food. Overall, it was ok. They tried to make up for wait which was not but just not great.
I said I wanted strong tea - he said he’d have to charge me for two bags. They new I had a shellfish allergy and still offered shellfish. The table next to me asked for more butter for their bread (which they had already been served once) and the waiter said they don’t do butter. Truffle fries come very very undercooked and omelette has so much salt in it be ready for swollen afternoon.
Overall, everything was great. For the cheese board, only 4 cheeses were brought out instead of 5 (which it states on the menu). Again, not a big deal but thought it should be mentioned. Risotto was excellent, but the chicken that came with it was dry. Again, overall, very good. Just a few things that were off. Will definitely be back again!
Once again food and drink at Fig & Olive proved to be superior. The newest addition of Hamachi crude with citrus was our highlight on this visit.
We went to celebrate a birthday. The experience was inconsistent. Out appetizers were wrong and missing ingredients. I would skip the dry and forgetrable crostini. When we inquired after these ingredients we were told the kitchen had been contacted without response. Entres were really great. Wine was good and well priced. We did appreciate the complimentary birthday cake and the many gluten free and dairy free options.
Beautiful ambiance, impeccable service, delicious and lovely food. Oh, and great cocktails!
Tasty and healthy salads for lunch. Nice ambiance. Try to go when you’re not in a hurry.
Very disappointing lunch at Fig and Olive. Something has clearly gone wrong here in the past year, as the dining room was half full, service was odd at best, and the food took FOREVER to come out. This place used to be jammed and I understand why it is no longer. My only positive comment is the food was good, but that’s not enough to bring me back.
First, the wine list by the glass is the best I’ve seen. A 10 year old Haut- Brion was phenomenal. I had the short rib which was wonderful. My wife had the crostini and was disappointed as they lacked flavor. Service was great.
Disappointed with brunch. Ordered several items including Plateau De Fruits De Mer. The lobster was extremely overcooked and so was the shrimp. The signature crostini dish was just ok. We also ordered the Provencal Breakfast and Lobster Primavera Ravioli. Both dishes were just ok. I was expecting a different experience. Our waiter was very nice and the mimosas were good. Having brunch on the patio was lovely. Oh, also ordered a cheese board.
Our dinner here was delightful. The Laguna Chardonnay paired perfectly with the Crostini appetizers. The food was delicious and the service was very good.
The restaurant overall has a unique vibe: part ultra lounge, part fine dining restaurant, and they balance the mix very well.
Unprofessional and scatterbrained service. Food quality and taste still good, but service has severely deteriorated at fig and olive. Ready availability of tables on a Saturday evening when none are to be found at comparable establishments must be a reflection of this.
Danilo took great care of us and even surprised us with a delicious anniversary dessert! We’ll be back.
Vegetarians and non-veg patrons will not be disappointed! The food and service are impeccable and the cheeses are phenomenal!
It was a lovely evening and we were able to sit outside. Let me just say my husband and I hadn’t been on a date in over 2 months. So we had pretty high expectations for our night out. The hostess was great, the table and view were perfect, the waiter made us feel rushed and the salmon, shrimp and short rib were all slightly over cooked. So overall good not great.
Horrible service. Apathetic management
The atmosphere was lovely as well as the ambiance. The food however, was mediocre. I tried the lamb chops per the server's recommendation. it was very smokey tasting and not worth the price at all. My daughter's risotto was quite salty while my sister's risotto was very good. The crostini were the best part. I probably would go there for drinks and apps again but not for lunch or dinner again.
Wonderful evening, great food, excellent service!
Interesting menu with excellent waitress & food recommendations.
I had really wonderful lunch at fig and olive!!
Their food was amazing!! Especially crostini and bread with olive and balsamic oil!
The overall environment was amazing:)
First time here. My wife and I had a very good dinner and the service was excellent. A lot of really good wines at reasonable pricing. Various seating types.
A little disappointing. We spent a lot of money on dinner and it was average given the cost. I mentioned in the reservation that it was my wife’s birthday and that it was a special night out for us yet nobody mentioned anything nor acknowledged/said congrats.
Had a wonderful meal the service was fantastic...I will definitely go back
And enjoyable brunch with family. Sitting by the window looking out on the beautiful day. Sitting by the window looking out on the beautiful day. Ambience very nice with live music and attentive service.good value.
Food and service was average, restaurant is overpriced. I did like the design of the restaurant and might go back for drinks and appetizers at the bar. So many other great places to go.
Great food and great service - their crostini are absolutely amazing!
Celebrated my birthday here this past weekend and had a great experience! I was a bit nervous before coming here because I recently saw quite a few negative reviews, but nothing I read about came to fruition. Greg our waiter was awesome! He paced our meal well (didn't rush us at all) and gave great recommendations. They've got a few wine and champagne options by the glass that you normally don't see so it was a fun way to try something new. Ambiance is wonderful. They had a DJ but we could hold a conversation with each other at a reasonable volume. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant but I can't wait to go back!
2nd dining experience at Fig & Olive. It didn’t disappoint!
Super disappointed! I’ve visited the Santa Monica location and the food and drinks were great. The drinks at this location tasted very watery and the beef carpaccio had absolutely no flavor. It was terrible. We stayed for less than an hour and had to find another spot for dinner. Sooo disappointing!
My husband and I came here for my birthday and we received the best service. They gave us a complimentary appetizer AND dessert. The food was great as well!
Went for lunch with a friend while shopping. Great, light lunch. Only down was that the tables are rather close together, particularly along the wall.
A delightful place to celebrate a special occasion. Our service was excellent and Frank gave us great advice. Thanks our helping us celebrate birthdays with our good friends.
Food wait time was long. When we eventually got food Lobster ravioli was served not cooked and cold. The same thing happened to the table next to us. We had to exchange for different dish. Server was not too helpful.
Rosemary Lamb Chops were delicious.
What happened? This restaurant used to be exciting and a treat for a special night out. The hostess was rude, we waited 45 minutes for our drinks, 90 minutes for a salad and finally gave up and left. Disappointing as it was our wedding anniversary.
The waiter tried and we got the feeling the entire place was staffed to half what they needed for a holiday weekend night. Doubt we’ll ever return to this Fig & Olive or any other.
The restaurant space is beautiful and trendy. High ceilings, bright interior. There are a bank of seats by the windows that are set up almost like a living room. Looks nice but probably pretty hard to eat a meal like that. We sat at a regular four top table. We started with the crostinis which were amazing. We got the six crostini plate which is more than enough as a meal for one or a healthy appetizer for two. Without describing each, the flavors were all deep and complex. The standouts were the smoked salmon and forest mushroom.
Sadly the rest of the meal was somewhere between mediocre and poor. We also had the burger and French toast. The French toast was small and dry. For $16. The burger was pretty average with a side of what looked like about 15 French fries. $20.
We got drinks as well. Peach sangria, which was 80% ice and tasted like water ($12) and passion punch ($14) which had what my wife and I both described as a weird Chinese five spice like after taste. Our waitress must have overheard us but she did take the drinks away, apologized and took it off the bill.
Overall come for the beautiful space and crostinis. Forget everything else.
Whenever my wife and I escape to the city, we find ourselves eating at Fig & Olive. It is always a treat dining there. A must "go to" restaurant in Chicago.
Great food, great ambiance, and great service! Such a beautiful place for dinner.
My entire family wanted to get a bite before our sunset boat ride for the holiday weekend. We walk into their beautiful restaurant with such high expectations however because it was an “off” time, the service really suffered. We were all given the wrong menus, TWICE, and so the time it took to order was prolonged. The food was below average, disappointing for the price point certainly. The best thing there was the risotto that my grandma ordered while my seafood platter was missing the basic comforts you would expect like horse radish and warm butter. We had heard such amazing things but I certainly wouldn’t go back based on this experience.
