Contemporary American
Built in 1927, Fig313 stands today as an original historical landmark of San Clemente, with a history that is meant to be shared with its seaside community. Carefully constructed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, distinctive design features include red-tile roofs, white stucco walls, hand-crafted windows and arches, painted tiles, and open-air courtyards.

Originally owned for the first 33 years by John and Jeanette Riley, 313 El Camino Real was renowned as Riley’s Waffle and Coffee Shop. Legend has it that actor John Wayne frequented the restaurant for a hearty American breakfast along with many travelers from all over the world. From 1960 on, Riley’s Café would change ownership many times, evolving into a furniture store, French restaurant, tequila company, and catering business. In 2012, the current owners purchased the property and began renovations and restoration, while staying true to the integrity of the original style.

Food, atmosphere, service all top notch and why a minimum of 50 characters when 6 was enough. Sometimes all you need is 6. The place was expensive but quality is worth paying for. The food was amazing The atmosphere was great. The service was perfect. I was in the restaurant business for 25 years and can be very critical. No need here.....and all you need to read is the 1st 6 words

Food was way over priced. $97 for surf and turf 😔Waiter made poor recommendations and my steak was over cooked and there was sauce on everything.The waiter never came back to ask us how dinner was until it was too late and we had eaten because we were so hungry.

Our server Andrew made the evening special. He was attentive to our every need and made sure our wine glasses were full! The food was amazing. The filet was perfectly cooked and the fig salad was one of the best I have ever had.

Fig 313 was not just a dinner, it was an entire experience! Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, service and food. It was a bit pricey, but quite worth it. Perfect place to take my husband for a special birthday dinner.

Tables are so close together, don’t go planning on an intimate date night. Hostess was VERY RUDE when i asked for a different table. No offense to the 2 other couples that we would have basically been at the same table with, we just weren’t expecting to make new friends over dinner.

There were 4 other EMPTY tables at the time that we walked out.

I was impressed! Small but lovely location in San Clemente with a beautiful courtyard and relaxed vibe. Dinner was delicious. We enjoyed the edited menu and wine list, well done. The fondue appetizer and vino were amazing! I’ll return for sure!

We went on Father's Day & sat inside which is small. We shared the cheese fondue for appetizer & then moved to the fig salad. Both were excellent & I highly recommend them. My husband had the salmon for his entrée which he said was also excellent. I had the filet mignon which was good but didn't have much flavor. The side of roasted carrots & scalloped potatoes were great. Unfortunately the menu is very limited for someone that doesn't eat fish. My only choice was steak. Overall it was a good experience & I would recommend the restaurant.

Service was outstanding as well as the ambiance. Wonderful garden dining very European feel to it. Indoor dining room is small but the decor is amazing. Cocktails 🍸 are very good, food 🍲 is flavorful and fresh. To get this kind of experience you have to travel to LA. Great find !!

Nice evening at Fig. First time dining at this restaurant and will not be the last. Main courses were excellent (salmon, halibut, and filet mignon) while starter (calamari) was good. Cocktails and wine selection was good with many options. Service was constant and good but not to the level of fine dinning. Reused utensils through out the evening vs replacing them. Small indoor dining room was nice but bar had TV on which was a bit of a distraction. Outside dining will be our plan on the next visit to this restaurant.

The BEST calamari I have had in my entire life. The ambiance is fantastic, server was so friendly and knowledgeable, and the menu is exquisite and tasteful. Not the prissy, ‘filet mignon and potatoes’ fancy, but Michelin star-worthy flavor combinations and presentation. The patio transported us to a calle in Spain it was so charming. I’d say it’s a hidden gem, but it’s more like a hidden masterpiece.

Celebrated our 39 Anniversary at Fig313 last night, had Chris H as our server. Service was outstanding! Food was amazing and the patio dining was perfect. This is a hidden gem! If you want a great experience and enjoy a quite dinning experience this is the place for you. Too many places today are so loud you can’t hear the person you came with. If you decide to give Fig313 a try they won’t disappoint! Chris was the man he took great care of us!

First visit and we’ll definitely be back. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We started with the Fire Shrimp, recommended by our server, and it was one of the best apps we’ve ever had. Our main courses were the Filet Mignon and Poached Halibut - both were cooked beautifully. Ended the night with the flourless chocolate dessert and it was perfect. Can’t wait to take our friends here.

We love this place and their patio and are glad to be back there. We were a bit disappointed in the menu choices and the $68 dollar Wagu steak as it was just ok and definitely not melt in your mouth. Giving all the restaurants a break though at the moment assuming supply chain and personnel issues in ramping back up. Hope to see food improvement forthcoming.

We had friends in town for the weekend that I wanted to show them some nice places to eat.
313 Fig did not disappoint. First of all we had the best server. He was professional and fun. The food and drinks were delish. Some of our favorite dishes were the calamari, the fondue appetizer and the halibut..

Well gosh the last time I ate here was awesome. This time the waiter didn’t know what the sauce was made of on a dish and incorrectly told me. When the food came out it was a cream sauce with milk instead of citrus like he said. He then blamed me saying it said cream on the menu, after pointing it out to him on the menu that it actually was not on there , he didn’t do anything. I would have liked some sort of acknowledgement and for him to have made it right.

Our staff is trained to mention the citrus in the nage, as well as the cream in the champagne cream foam and the ragu. The food was not that good... plus the food descriptions on the menu was not accurate. We got the cheese fondue and it was literally just melted cheese in a baking dish..? I got a halibut which was fantastic but it would have been nice to know it was covered in onions. It did not say that in the menu. The salad was boring and wilty. The only nice part was the environment, drinks and service was great. But would not come back again just because the price was laughable compared to the quality of the food.

There were 4 of us for dinner, with a reservation. We were seated right away and the service was outstanding. The menu is quite small and somewhat limited but the food was good. This is a very expensive restaurant and I don't believe that the food is good enough for the excessively high prices. We will not be back. I had the halibut and it was excellent, although it was done in what was called a champagne foam and I have no idea what that was. The vegetables were called a confit of vegetables and consisted of peas (bland) and carrots, whole pearl onions and a bit of bacon. Certainly not a substantial vegetable and nothing to write home about. My husband had the steak and pronounced it as just OK. The potatoes that came with it were delicious, however. But for the high prices, the food was not of the proper caliber. The bread basket - brioche rolls - was $7. The fig butter that came with the bread was the best thing about the bread. I ordered a side salad and it was an incredible $11!!!. It consisted of greens (mostly the weedy variety) and a bit of tomato. That's it!!! It was a rather large portion but for $11 it should have been spectacular. The ambiance was wonderful and the evening was pleasant but the high prices bordered on exorbitant for what we got. The restaurant was full, which was surprising, considering it is very expensive. A lot of young people were there and maybe their expectations aren't as high but when I pay $42 for a steak, it should be as good as it gets. It wasn't. Same for the halibut - very good but not worth the price tag of $36, especially since the veggies were so common. I can't recommend this restaurant because of the high prices for mediocre food.

Fig 313 was superb. The only negative was the fairly rude comment at the bottom of the menu regarding any substitutions. It is possible to convey the same information (no substitutions) without coming across as insulting. It became an inside joke for our whole vacation! In any case, this was a superb restaurant, I highly recommend it.
