This was my 3rd visit to Field & Main and my first for brunch. First, I had specified that we wanted kitchen bar seating. We were seated in the dining room instead. And not only that, we were seated at the worst table in the dining room in my opinion. Set in a corner, my view of the restaurant was the corner of two walls 2 feet behind my girlfriend. When the restaurant is 90% empty at 11:45am why is that table one of the first to be seated? The old fashioned lard biscuits were unexpectedly dense. Doesn't make them bad, just not what we thought they would be. The bacon butter was fantastic. The eggs benedict with shaved pork was disappointing. The pork was tasteless. The hollandaise was too sweet. The poached eggs were perfect. I would not order that again. My girlfriend's fried chicken was delicious. Beautifully crispy and moist. Great honey mustard. Next time I would insist on my preferred seating. I know not to order the biscuits and that version of eggs benedict again. Disappointing visit to an otherwise excellent restaurant.

Ambitious menu and looks appetizing, but not executed well. All of our dishes were extremely salty. I am Italian and love papardelle noodles. These were very wide, almost like cut lasagna strips, odd, but no problem, it was the sauce that was the problem. It was not tomato-based, but instead was like a floury cream gravy with noodles swimming in it. It had a nice flavor but was so rich, one could not possibly eat it without getting sick. It would be like drinking a pot of creamy gravy. The scallops had a nice flavor and were cooked perfectly, but were ruined by the excessive salt. The prices are extremely high, so that causes expectations to also be, and they were not met.

Had a perfectly wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for 3 there. Returned for Sunday brunch. Food was less good. Service excellent as previously. It was New Year’s Eve day. Maybe the A team was not on. I would return though. Brunch probably was anomalous experience.

Phenomenal!!! F&M is one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in years. The service was warm, gracious, and expert. The staff know and take tremendous pride in not only the cuisine but also locally sourced and outstanding quality ingredients. What happens in the kitchen is magic. I never imagined grits could be ethereal, yet the shrimp and grits — with a side of the most amazing toast — was truly out of this world. Eggs Benedict here are like nowhere else. Such careful attention was paid to poaching the eggs, and the pork, sauce, and biscuit were all perfection. I can’t wait to return!

Have been to dinner there many times but this was our first brunch at Field & Main...it won’t be the last. Wonderful combination of relaxed, authentic vibe with imaginative, delicious food.
