Hawaii Magazine Best New Restaurant Oahu 2017!
Rooted in the local farm-to-table movement — a place where seasonality and culinary tradition are celebrated in tandem.
One part Hawaii and one part Brooklyn. The atmosphere shares a brasserie feel with a laid-back island sensibility—a celebration and homage to all of our favorite things we enjoy eating and drinking.
Crafted with brick & reclaimed wood, our urban Hawaiian farmhouse features an open kitchen, lush plant wall, brick walls, and lots of natural light in a historic Chinatown building. The bar mixes classic and modern cocktails with artisanal flare with a well-curated wine list.

Always good food and service
One of my favorite restaurants! Always great across the board. Love the spicy kitty!
The odds was great and they had a lot of specials that obviously a lot of work went into. We liked the staff, too. Someone would check on us throughout our meal even if our server was tied up 10/10 would visit again.
Visiting from out of town, celebrating anniversary
We go to Fete about every 3 or 4 weeks. The specials are always amazing and the regular menu is equally delicious. I always wish I could order everything. You could have a feast of only vegetable dishes if you wanted. The fish is super fresh and all the meat dishes are hearty. The deserts are simple and fresh, not overly sweet or decadent.
The hospitality is on point, service oriented and friendly. The name Fete is very appropriate. It feels like you are having a meal at a joyous party. And they always go out of their way to make our 5 year old feel welcome and special.
Welcoming owner, very attentive waitress, and excellent food. The chef accommodated everyone in our party which included diners with gluten allergy, dairy allergy, and another digestive disorder. Every dish was tasty, and the olive oil cake dessert is a rare treat (hard to find any dessert except sorbets on most restaurant menus) for folks with dairy allergies.
The dinner was exceptional though you have to keep and open mind on some dishes you might not usually consider. We had carrots that were tasty and I don't normally like carrots. My pasta was really good, all hand made and probably more than I needed. My guests Mahi Mahi looked delicious. We finished up with the hand made ice cream. I had Rocky Road that was out of this world. A memorable evening.
Absolutely amazing hospitality alongside INCREDIBLE food. The staff had a family-feel and made the experience all the more enjoyable. The portions are large so come hungry. Thank you to the entire FOH & BOH teams for such a delicious and fun evening! Will definitely be sending friends here/returning whenever we’re in town.
The cocktails were executed really well. They have a unique but solid mai-tai, although it may be too acidic for some. The beef tartar and grilled bread was exceptional. The smoked fish sandwich was very good, and an excellent portion for the price. We did upgrade the side on the sandwich to a side salad and that was disappointing. It was literally just lettuce and vinegar, but for an additional $6, I expect way more. The pasta was excellent, but it could definitely have used more sauce. Lastly, they recommended the made in house rocky road ice cream for dessert and it was the best rocky road ever. It's a must have. Lastly, Chinatown can be very active at night and it can lead to some uncomfortable situations if you're sitting outside. The restaurant has no control over this, but if they only have availability outside, I personally would consider going elsewhere.
Creative food, friendly staff, interesting part of town.
Food was delicious, service was good and it was an enjoyable evening.
Delicious! A wonderful neighborhood restaurant with great food at reasonable prices. We started with Fete Spreads and held back because we didn't want to stuff ourselves before the entrees arrived. We dined on flavorful steak frite and Korean-style bavette, and ended our meal with a piece of olive oil cake (so light and tender), the homemade rocky road ice cream with homemade marshmallows, and raspberry-lychee-rosewater sorbet. Everything was very yummy.
We parked at the Marin Tower public parking lot on Smith Street which is well lit, has security cameras, and fewer homeless people.
We had planned to spend our 20th anniversary on Oahu and dining at Fete. In October of 2020. After two reschedules of the entire trip, we were able to be there for our 21st anniversary instead, but we both knew it was the place for dinner on THE day. I had indicated anniversary in the reservation, and unbeknownst to us, a friend who frequents Fete called in for a special surprise. So, from the first moment we walked up, we were treated as though we were the most special people in town that night - from the hostess to our server, all chimed in with Happy Anniversary greetings. We booked the chef’s counter because we have enjoyed that experience in the past. Even with a few changes, it’s still a great time - watching the chefs work quickly, diligently and with obvious love for what they’re doing is a delight. And then you begin to experience the next level of service with the server carefully relating the specials of the day and discussing not just ingredients but flavors and the restaurant philosophy with gusto. Now, it’s time for the food. Not a bite that didn’t work beautifully with all of the other bites around. We ate the baveau and the fish special with gusto matching our server. After the second cocktail, we asked our server about a drink our friend had named after him and suggested we might like one. She got a kind of surprised look on her face as she told us that our friend had already arranged for us to have that cocktail on him. We all laughed, and the drinks arrived. The drinks were amazing - tasty and well-balanced. Finally, Chuck - one of the owners - checked on us, well after having stopped by to say Happy Anniversary, to make sure all was well and let us know that another friend in town had ordered some after dinner drinks for us. He came to the table himself to pour those for us. Our first anniversary celebration has always been one of our favorite evenings. Our 21st anniversary celebration at Fete now ranks alongside that one.
All good. Everything tasty and fresh! Everyone was please with their lunch plates!
Food and service was extremely delightful. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance and service. We read great things about the food and it didn’t disappoint. Definitely a must try if you’re in the area!
Great service and amazing food as always! Mahalo!!
A great place for a business lunch. Had the quinoa burger, legit tasty! Partner had the Korean chicken sandwhich. So good. I wish they did breakfast....
Overall the food was delicious. I am a vegetarian so my meal selections were perfect. My husband’s chicken was deep fried as noted so he was a little concerned but once he broke into the skin He said he would have the same dish over again. The dessert was phenomenal and wine. We will be back! I should also add parking wasn’t that difficult. We did find street parking but was also told there Is paid parking nearby.
Food was good but service was slow and inattentive.
Started our dining experience outdoors for lunch but noise and unpleasant sights made us want to move indoors. The staff graciously allowed us to do so. I shared a beet salad and cavatelli pasta. Both were good. Our wait person did an excellent job.
Best meal we’ve had in along time!! Get the Half Fried Chicken!
Fete has been and continues to be my favorite restaurant! The food is always fabulous and I enjoy the cocktails as well. (My two favorites are Spicy Kitty and Fete 75)
Lovely restaurant an easy walk from Iolani Palace, in a location which appears to be experiencing a "renaissance" (this is a GOOD thing). The beer/wine and food menus were both interesting, including the specials for the day we were there. The quality of the food was excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed it! It's well managed, but the staff were stretched too thin, so don't be in a hurry if you're there at a popular time, but that is true in many places right now due to pandemic-hangover, so that doesn't lesson our review - just want folks to be advised that it may take some extra time.
We usually love Fete, but this visit was a sour note. The Hostess was a bit rude and rushed and our waiter seemed to be jousting with another nicer waitress for our table. The Spanish Ahi appetizer is normally very good, but this time it was clear they either pre-cooked/seared the ahi and held it in the fridge or did something else to it as it was quite cold and chewy. The salad was excellent, but the risotto was over seasoned with herbs and too heavy a sprinkle of breadcrumbs. Finally, Fete can be loud given the high ceiling and hard concrete floors so why we need background music blaring is a mystery. We found ourselves struggling to be heard at our small table and noticed others needing to raise their voices which just made it worse overall. Seriously, skip the music and hang some accoustic tiles. We come to eat and talk not yell at each other.
A nice place to enjoy good food with friends!
Fantastic service, great food, staff is friendly and attentive. Really great.
Come here often and they never disappoint! My son and I oved the lemon zucchini risotto, and my daughter loved her mon cheong fish in parchment paper, We're just sorry we didn't get to try the salmon wrapped in prosciutto that they had - but there's always next time! (Hopefully it's still on the menu).
Our waitress (Alex) was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She was working hard with many tables but we never felt ignored or without. One of the best servers we've had in any restaurant!
Never disappoints. This place is consistently fantastic.
Fantastic food and service!
Fete is a hidden gem...the food is absolutely amazing! Definitely the best meal we've had since arriving in Honolulu. Great service, good value, and a place we highly recommend!
Still the best place to eat in Chinatown. The menu is not extensive but comforting, reliable, and embracing. Eating here is like being invited to your best friends loft in SOHO and she just so happens to be a top restaurant Chef sharing a meal with you on her day off. Super special and intimate. The service here is attentive and personal. Pro Tip: The wine list contains treasures you will not find anywhere else in Honolulu. Parking sucks but walking back to your car after dinner provides a certain entertainment value that only Honolulu Chinatown can provide.
They never disappoint.
Excellent wine list. Service was spectacular, there was a slight incident with our order but it was handled beautifully. Booked a
Reservation at the sister restaurant for tomorrow. Thanks y’all!
The service was great and the food was excellent!
This was my fifth visit to Fete and as usual, the food was absolutely delicious, wonderfully presented, locally sourced and arrived in perfect time. Eleanor, our wait staff was bubbly, gracious and very well informed. Fete is becoming our go to place for pick up lunch and a nice week night dinner.
We were there at 3:30, so it was quiet. But very pleasant. We’ll go back for sure!
Great experience. Started off at a table adjacent to the kitchen but they quickly moved us to the bar. Great time.
Service was outstanding. The food and drinks were excellent. We’ll sit inside next time. The outdoors was too noisy with bus traffic and sketchy foot traffic. Otherwise we’ll worth it!
