FERRO
Enjoy live music under the pines almost every night in the expansive concert area or quieter al fresco dining on the front deck. In the winter, cozy up to the beautiful fireplace in the elegant lounge/bar.
I went here with by boyfriend for our anniversary and it was very nice! They made sure we sat where we wanted and gave us a free dessert and a cute anniversary card. The food was very good but we were most impressed with the service, they were all super nice and accomidating.
Food and service was excellent
Our favorite restaurant in Idyllwild, however if Frank is going to serve in the back patio during the winter he needs more heaters.
Just too cold. We couldn't enjoy it. It looks nice but until summer it is not enjoyable.
Always a great Idyllwild dining experience :) Even outside in November, was cozy enough next to the heater on the back patio...
Excellent service, delicious food and amazing ambience!
We drove 2 hours to Idylwild and 2 hours home just to eat here. By far the best Italian food in So Cal.. never disappoints
Lovely ambience, courteous service, delicious food, fantastic menu & diversity of selections. Unfortunately our food took quite a long while to come out despite our party of 6 being the first customers at the restaurant when they opened at 3pm. Our dinners were all cold so presumably, the dishes were sitting out for a bit in an attempt to bring everyone’s dinners simultaneously. Our server was absolutely lovely but perhaps a bit inexperienced or overworked, as everyone was left waiting when they wanted to place additional drink orders or ask for anything after our initial drink orders were placed. The food was fantastic but would have been even better had it not been cold. Overall, we just appreciated being able to dine al fresco.
Ferro is a great Italian restaurant and everything about it was great!! The ambiance, the authentic food, the service, seriously everything was great!!! The best part about the food was knowing everything was fresh and made by scratch. I would recommend this restaurant for anybody looking for something authentic I will likely be coming back again just to eat here
Fabulous!!! Awesone our waitress was lovely! Food, spectacular
Best pork chop ever
We love the staff and food at Ferro!!! Such a treat :)
Dinner was terrible! Obviously there was no chef food horrendous! Steamed Clams came out w oily sludge in bottom no broth and the spice level was hotter then ***t! My partner ate one and was like those are very hot! The seafood risotto tasted like instant rice cooked in Campbell’s Condensed Tomato Soup with one clam (that was shut), 2 shrimps and something else that was all burned thrown on top! The bread was great everything else bad
FERRO continues to have an amazing kitchen and delightful menu, with an array of choices for all tastes and pocketbooks. Everything seems to be “just right,” including a reasonably-priced wine list and delightful cocktails. And the food... scrumptious! Again, we were delighted to be assisted by Katie Potter, who, among consistently exceptional staff at FERRO, is among the best of the best - everywhere! GO THERE, but be sure to call them before coming, as with Covid and sometimes frisky weather, their seating capacity may greatly vary.
Next time we're getting pizza - it looked great.
Nice wine list!
Enjoyed the dinner and the service. Thanks!
Truly the most underrated restaurant in Idyllwild!
Generally great food and service. Just avoid the very disappointing desserts.
Great food, great cocktails. Came here for a nice birthday dinner after an 8 mile hike and we were not disappointed.
I had higher expectations for the ‘higher end’ dining restaurant. Due to covid, there is a 90 min dining limit..our food took almost an hour! I ordered squash over polenta $18. it was blah and barely warm..unfortunately our server never came by to ask how our food was otherwise I could have at least asked for salt & pepper. Hubby ordered sea bass for substantially more $$ and it came with the same blah polenta & chard that was my dish..barely warm too. I would say the bass was cooked nicely and was hot. We won’t go back & would advise anyone who asks to go on down to the brewery instead, prices are high there too but at least the food is served hot, in a timely manor & tastey.
First visit to Ferro for the wife's birthday. Food, service, ambiance were all exceptional. Will be back to dine at Ferro next time we visit Idyllwild.
Service felt rushed. Should have gotten our drinks before being asked for our dinner order. Waitress seemed in a hurry. Entree came out too quickly after our appetizer was served. Just to rushed feeling for a nice diner out.
Always good service and food. The outside is the place to be. King of the hill.....
Always a fantastic experience!
great pizza , nice chilled rose , outdoor seating well spaced out . Covid awareness from diners and staff was perfect. great for kids and dogs !
Hay, I get these once a week because I go there 1-2 times a week! It is still the BEST resturant in idyllwild, setting service, food, parking, safety, etc! Can not say any more, an it has been a “... can’t say ...” for years. Also, thank you Katty for the best service ever!
Great location, beautiful restaurant. I had the lentil soup to start, it was delicious. Husband had a green salad, also delicious. He had salmon and it was quite good. I ordered the margherita pizza. I confess I’m a pizza snob, I have a wood fired oven at home that I use at least weekly.
I’m not sure the pizza was cooked in the beautiful outside pizza oven as it arrived from the kitchen along with the salmon. Plus, we were sitting next to the pizza oven and I did not notice it in use. The pizza could use work. It’s the second time I ordered it there and it was just OK. It was flat, without a puffy corniche like crust. Like from Blaze pizza. There was no leoparding of the crust nor cooked marks on the bottom, even though I asked for it well done with a little char. The sauce was tomato paste like, not like a fresh sauce.
The wine list was excellent with a great blend of new and old world wines. Excellent service. We will be back for sure, I’ll just get the pasta next time.
I appreciate the abundance of vegetarian and vegan options, thank you Ferro!
First time at this restaurant; would recommend! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on menu. The pizza is delicious, although I would have preferred it a little more done. The pasta portion sizes compared to price are not exactly equal but food tasted delicious all around. Wine is a bit pricey but if you’re out for a date night or special occasion I would recommend it! Tables were as socially distant as possible and all staff wore masks outside. Temperatures were taken before being seated. I would have preferred a QR code type menu instead of a traditional menu for these times. Not because I don’t think they’re cleaning them in between but hey, you can’t be too sure right now. Just one less thing to touch. The ambiance was nice, the weather was great, and the lighting set the vibes. Overall, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to go to this restaurant. I enjoyed it very much and will return again! Highly recommend! Oh and they’re dog friendly!
During this pandemic we spend a lot of our time in Idyllwild. While there, twice a week, there is a restaurant of choice that fits the bills of, is good, it has outside eating, service is great, not a lot of noise, fairly safe, good value, good parking and as I said in the beginning the food is always great!! Can’t say much more than that.
Best pork chop ever!
They have very good servers and an excellent bartender. We always enjoy their food. The menu is not extensive and I don’t think it’s changed at all in the years that we’ve gone there. A special now and then would be a nice option but perhaps not a reasonable request in our covid era. Ferro is on our list for every trip to Idyllwild. It’s a lovely outdoor environment with delicious food and outstanding service. A real escape.
Always exceptional. Always.
Our server was Addison. Great service! Pizza was outstanding. Very enjoyable meal. Delighted to find service & food like this in a small town.
Favorite local restaurant, dine there frequently and have never been disappointed.
We arrived 5 min early for our reservation and had to wait 30 min to be seated. They sat people who arrived after us before us. My husband’s steak was over cooked and although a lovely waitress (who wasn’t our server) asked if it was cooked properly, we said yes because we didn’t want to wait for another one. My sea bass was delicious and perfectly cooked. We ordered dessert to go and it was the smallest sliver of cake that was broken and for $12 it wasn’t even shareable, however, it was also delicious.
When in Idyllwild, dining at Ferro is a must. The quality of the staff is only exceeded by the quality of the food. Don't miss the flowerless chocolate cake for dessert.
They never disappoint and they are working extra hard during these challenging times to keep us safe and feed us well.
We had an amazing dinner. Everything about Ferro was wonderful. Wait staff was friendly, food was excellent and ambiance was superb. Highly recommend.
I would take this review with a grain of salt as I don't really expect restaurant's to be able to be five stars all the time during this pandemic. Our server was definitely handling too many tables and also appeared to be making drinks behind the bar, so service was s-l-o-w. The carpaccio and drinks were amazing. My husband ordered rabbit which appears to have included an ENTIRE rabbit. It was delicious and my hubby definitely had leftovers. I order the brined half chicken and was really disappointed. It was brined for way to long. I could not eat it, way to salty (and I'm a salt lover). Luckily I brought it home and repurposed the chicken with a pasta that I didn't add salt to and it was perfect. It was nice that they brought ice cream and a candle and card to celebrate my hubbies bday. I would still recommend it as it could have just been an off night and to be fair, I've over-brined poultry myself!
My husband and I frequent FERRO as it's the best place in town. The entire experience is always fantastic. The staff, the surroundings and of course the food. I highly recommend it!
We dined at this restaurant on a Sunday night in Sept 2020. It was fairly busy. They accommodated us in the back patio, which was very nice. The food was excellent and the service was very good. They have a creative cocktail and drinks menu. We will definitely return.
