The shrimp shumai is incredible! Best thing we ate there. The menu has something for everyone and all of the food we had was delicious. The ambience is very nice, minus the music being a bit loud. The service is as good as can be expected given the lack of workers. I definitely recommend giving this delicious food a try.
Had a Friday night reservation at 7:30pm, we didn’t get our meal until 8:45pm. We were comped our meal due to the delay but our server was very aloof and not communicative which yielded frustration and confusion. Dumplings were very good but not worth the poor service. Also, a list of beverages on draft would be nice to have; this was not provided and not realized until I saw the bar walking to the restroom. I didn’t have tea but they had a good selection. Needless to say I will not be eating here again.
I know everyone is short staffed, but to wait for 45 minutes for your dumplings - and not all of them mind you, just the first plate - without any apologies or explanation is just not acceptable. The dumplings were good, not the best I’ve ever had and the service was okay, but the decor and ambiance was nice. We may try again and hope for a better experience but with so many great restaurants in Madison it’s unlikely we will return any time soon.
Wonderful place for great comfort food and tea! They have beer and wine as well. Our service was outstanding, especially considering how short staff the industry is right now. I see us being regulars at this place.
Absolutely delicious food. Service was good, they seemed to be understaffed but doing their best (who isn't these days). My only feedback for Feast is that I've tried to order takeout twice (I live in the neighborhood) and they never answer the phone!
Really authentic, really good. There wasn’t one bad thing on the menu and we had 1/2 of it.
Love the atmosphere but the food was way too expensive for what you got. While they pride themselves on quality of ingredients, overall the taste wasn't anything spectacular. Combine that with tiny portions and slow service on top of their hefty price tag makes this one a very simple skip.
Our food was delicious. Ambiance was a blend of Chinese and modern with a touch of old Hollywood. We were a group of 6 and wanted to order plates to share. Our server was not helpful when we asked for recommendations such as how many plates to order or what to recommend. Luckily we had 2 diners with us who were familiar with the menu items. We opted for 6 appetizers and 4-5 main plates. It ended up not being enough so we ordered another round of 3-4 apps and 2 main items. The server acted very annoyed and was rude the rest of our experience. Also to note it’s not like we sat at the table too long either nor was there a line to get in. It seemed like he was one of maybe 2 servers working so perhaps with staffing changes the service will improve. Definitely go for the food, you can’t go wrong with anything.
Just inside the front door, a wall of fragrant teas. Live music being played on a beautiful Chinese instrument. Classy decor. Dumplings and scallion pancakes are really good. Tables are reasonably spaced. Only quibble: the wine list. BYOB if possible.
Food is amazingly delicious and the service was great.
Recommended by a friend. The place was quiet, with an elegant vibe, perfect for my friend’s send-off. The food was AMAZING, and the wine was superb. We ordered two appetizers and wine with our meals and we both only paid $30. Will definitely be back with everyone I know!
It’s one of my new favorite places in Madison. When I heard the word “dumpling”, I just automatically thought it was not my thing. It is now!
Really wonderful meal. I had the pork belly buns and the three ingredient dumplings. Everything was fresh. Service was great.
Lovely interior, good food and service.
Excellent handmade dumplings, wonderful tea and experience.
Just OK. Scallion pancakes and steamed shrimp dumplings we very good but everything else was average and relatively pricey. Service was below average but it could be they were understaffed.
Uncomfortable outdoor chairs.
First off, we loved the food. So delicious. However, The service was deficient. Nobody at the front to greet us. They were clearly short-staffed. We chalked that up to COVID and restaurants getting back up to speed. Our table was too dark. The water provided was clearly sitting somewhere a long time. No ice, lukewarm. Our server greeted us with, ‘Are you ready to order?’ Here’s a tip for ALL restaurants: when you seat your customers, pour them ice water at their table and ask if you can get them drinks. Then, provide the drinks. Take their order. This way, the customers enjoy a beverage while their food is prepared and they’ll likely order another round of drinks with their meal. We’re constantly stunned this isn’t standard practice. The biz is missing out on selling more booze/beer/wine, the moneymaker for restaurants. In our case, here, our drinks arrived about the time of our food. We enjoyed the fabulous meal, but didn’t order any more drinks. We’re going to give FEAST time to get staffed up and try them again.
Hi John, Thanks for visiting Feast and giving us positive review for our food. I also apologize your experience from our service side was not ideal. We appreciate your tips of how to greeting our customer, especially the way to serve drink as the standardize of a fine dine in restaurant. Again, thanks for your valued feedback. I hope we will give you ideal service next time when you stop by us. Owner Mike
Cool place to go with friends.
The food and service were exceptional. There is a nice, outside area to sit and enjoy the great weather.
I didn’t know there would be so much variety and so many different types of dumplings. The pan fried ones, the rice stuffed one, the scallop one…I can’t even pick a favorite. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the edamame - it had some oil on it that I didn’t like. Aside from that this was a great evening out.
We loved Feast! The food was delicious, the aesthetic/atmosphere was stunning, and it was the perfect spot for grabbing a drink with friends or for a date. We ordered the pork buns, edamame, and dumplings! All were delicious. The edamame has quite a heat kick, so if you don't like spicy, don't get it. We will definitely be back!
I went to Feast with a group of five friends - they had reserved a nice big table for us. The service was friendly and fast, and the ambiance was casual yet upscale. We enjoyed ordering our dinner family style, so that we could try more types of starters and dumplings. Our favorite starter was the pork belly bun and we enjoyed all of the steamed dumplings we tried. We even tried the dessert dumplings with egg custard filling, and they were delicious!
Overall a very good experience
We were so delighted to eat at Feast. Delicious food. Quiet and socially distant dining. We could walk to Coda where we went to hear Jazz concert afterwards.
Food was great in a very nice looking restaurant with a great courtyard. I highly recommend!
Great service in a hip atmosphere. Food was delicious and a good value.
Awesome food and awesome service. Our waitress was super helpful with telling us what everything was, what was in it and how to best enjoy it (she made sure we knew what sauces went with which dumplings). We tried a lot of the chef recommended menu items and they were all really good— the shrimp hargow and the pork belly buns stood out as particularly amazing! We’ve already made plans to come back again with friends soon!
Dumplings and tea were delicious! Service was quick. We could have used more of an introduction to the menu and an explanation of some of the items - I felt we had to ask a lot of questions of the server to figure out how the menu worked which was a little annoying. It was their soft open though, so I’m hopeful that will improve.
I wanted to like this place, it was a disappointment
This was a really nice meal overall. It is a little difficult to rate because of Covid. Waiter was helpful, but sort of afraid of his own shadow and too eager. He also seemed to be the only one working and was able to give good suggestions. Will return for the good, reasonably priced and to get a better feel for the place.
Service was great. Loved the food. Great all around.
We had a great time. Everything was great, especially the buns and dumplings.
This restaurant was extremely beautiful. The ambiance, lighting, decorations was excellent. I thought the dim sum was better than the dumplings I initially ordered. I felt the dumplings could have used some more taste but I had a great time at this restaurant nevertheless.
Only drawback was that that server, when standing by our table, did not offer to replace chopsticks that had dropped on the floor beside him from our table.
Great dim sum and dumplings. And I'd recommend splurging on the more expensive teas from the tea menu, they were great. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and great care went into the presentation of everything that was served to us!
Interior decor is beautiful and not only is the ambience quiet, it is calming, soothing, and relaxing. Staff friendly, helpful.
The food is a beautiful to see as the decor, and tastes amazing.
Great food and service. Highly recommend the different buns!
