   A major dining experience. Great staff who know their stuff. Food that's a joy to share around the table. Do what you need to do to eat here.

   We sat at the bar where a super-friendly server (I'm sorry I can't recall his name, but he's a redhead) took excellent care of us. The "drink your vegetables" cocktail was awesome with the trio of appetizers we shared - peanuts, eggplant and pigs ears - all of which I'd order again in a heartbeat! So many flavors and textures with a nice amount of heat without being overwhelming. The arroz gordo was more than we could finish between the two of us, and every bite was delicious. Of the new places we tried on this trip, this is top of my list for a return visit!

   It was very hot. I assume the AC was not working. Service was good. Although very salty the food was good.

   The Chili prawns probably rank as a top 10 favorite dish from anywhere. Bacon fried rice was as good as you would hope and the peanuts were surprisingly complex and tasty. The vegetarian glass noodles were underwhelming, despite a lovely presentation, not quite bland, just one-note flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

   The two of us had the arroz gordo and it was delicious! just a tad too much for two people, but the flavors of every component of the meal was amazing. It had a great balance of asian and portuguese influences and they work so well! It also went really well with the Mango Mimosas! The vibe is vibrant, with great decor and friendly staff. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chefs doing what they do best. Will definitely come back when we're back in Chicago.

   Great menu, excellent service, fine cocktails. I was a little disappointed with the outdoor seating but wouldn't hold that against fat rice. Well paced and structured meal - fine cuisine. Make sure to have a reservation.

   This was one of the best, all around meals I've had in the city for the last year or so. We were pleased with alll aspects of our time at Fat Rice. A warm, helpful, knowledgeable staff added to the experience.

   Perfect service. Delicious food. Creative drinks and atmosphere. The personality of the place is warm and interesting, just like all the people we interacted with.

    We were a little disappointed. The smaller plates we had such as the mussels were pretty good. Where things fell short was their namesake dish Fat Rice. It was somewhat dry and lacking in flavor. 4 of us did not finish it. The wine list is very limited.
