no one torld us the restaurant had just reopened and was not serving a proper menu only Pizza until we arrived at the restaurant. The website nor open tables gave that information. So we actualy never ate at the Fat Hen, too bad because we had really enjoyed it when previously there, before pandemic

It was lovely and quiet. Just what we needed.

Appetizers were forgettable and mains were made inedible by the amount of salt in the sauces. Hoping the had an off night but imo there are way better Italian options in Boston

Hi, food and service was great but not lots of options to choose from. Menu was very limited, and so we asked if we can order something from the second hall (the sister restaurant - "La Brasa") answer was no. BTW the name on our bill (the creadit card record) was of the sister resturant (La Brasa)

First time, and it was delicious. I really appreciate a small menu that is done well. Will definitely come back!

As usual, the chef Brian Miller is doing magic in the kitchen. Most creative dining in the area!

Wow! What an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional, extremely welcoming and they had reduced the number of tables by half. They were only offering a fixed 4or 7 course menu but every dish we had was outstanding. Great for a special event especially a celebration or date night!

As we were one of the last parties they had before closing for the pandemic, the dining room was very quiet and our waiter was great!

Quiet...dark...nondescript...If you don't live in the neighborhood I wouldn't bother making the trip!

We came to celebrate our anniversary and have a meal that would be special and memorable. It absolutely was. We each had the 7 course tasting menu and each course was both interesting and delicious - I think one or the other is fair to expect from a tasting menu but we left satisfied and talking about the dishes for days. The wine pairings were fantastic (we asked for the list) and a good value versus buying glasses or a bottle. Finally it is a very small, intimate and unpretentious setting (which we liked), as if it wants to remain a hidden gem. The service is excellent and the chef served each of the courses and explained them to us which is kind of mind boggling. Fat Hen was recommended by a few friends, and we will recommend it to a few more.

Did the tasting on wednesday evening, the food was incredible, thoughtful and inspiring to an industry warrior. The wine pairing was great, providing more balance to an already exceptional meal. Would do it all again.

Very good food albeit expensive. We did four courses with wine pairing- had duck and filet for mains. Cabernet excellent though meant to go with duck, better with filet as strong- but rest of pairing mediocre. Business much better than cannoli.

Food was overall fantastic, the gnocchi with smoked butter was fantastic! Really appreciated that they let us have an off-menu dessert from their valentines menu.

Excellent food. My wife, son and I celebrated Valentine's Day dinner at the Fat Hen. We did the Prix Fixe and had a wonderful culinary trip. Jacob was so knowledgeable of wine and course selections. The food was so flavorful he could hardly finish the current bite to eat into the next. Great wait staff that allowed us time to enjoy our meal and night. Gem in the neighborhood of a sophisticated cuisine with a casual atmosphere fusion.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious. Not only is it a creative menu, but the favors and tastes are impeccable. I have had the good fortune of eating at almost every upper echelon restaurant in the city and this is bar none the best restaurant. The ambiance is romantic and with a cool, edgy design. Also, Jamie is a superb waiter! Please dine here.

We ate there on a whim and it turned out to be one of the most serendipitous culinary experiences in the two years we've been living here. When people talk about Italian food near Boston, I wish the cuisine at Fat Hen was the one getting attention. Every component of the dish is carefully prepared with intent; we ended up ordering three mains even though we weren't even that hungry going into dinner. The service was excellent and attentive, and I'm so glad that this quality institution is part of the broader Cambridge community.

Prefect date night experience. Chef Miller never disappoints. Tonight’s favorites, the scallops, the agnolotti, koji steak, the hamachi with the kombucha, farro with truffle egg... need I say more?! This place is amazing. Do yourself a favor and get the tasting menu. Perfect wine pairing by Jamie and Jake. We will be back!

The tasting menu was awesome! Even though we gave no indication as to preferences, the choices that the chef made were perfect and made for an incredibly enjoyable meal. The wait staff is super responsive. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun venue.

Very good food in a nice cozy atmosphere. One of the best wine pairings I've had.

This was one of the best meals we have had in the past year. The only down was the dessert, which was still good, just not as amazing as the rest of the meal.

My wife and I had a great time. The waiter knew the menu very well and made great pairings for wine with each dish. We were very impressed and this level of expertise is hard to come by even in the higher end places.

What an incredible place with an equally incredible staff. The attention to detail in both the food and the service is beyond reproach. The food was delicious and the plating was stunning. I can't wait to go back.

Great restaurant! The only suggestion I have is to expand the cocktail menu. Other than it's a great experience!

Always challenges with new combinations

This is our fourth time here. And they continue to astonish with unique pairings of spices and ingredients. Never a misfire. Tangy bass crudo, an Asian hint to the gnocchi, and tender roasted duck breast. Unique flavors. Nothing is ordinary. Brief but excellent wine list. I highly recommend Fat Hen.

I’ll make the decision easy for you! DINE HERE. While the ambiance of the place is dim lit and romantic the food and it’s extraordinary staff is what keeps me and my husband going back again and again.
Pasta dishes are unbelievably tasty and the crew is so accommodating. They treat all of their diners with soigné attitude. Enjoy!

The Chef’s Whim dinner was amazing again. Chef Bryan is very clever and talented. So many phenomenal flavor and texture combinations. Can’t wait to go again

What can I say? The Fat Hen doesn't fail. This was a terrific New Year's Eve prix fixe, and the tone set by the staff extended to the tables, with pleasant exchanges on either side.

in the past, Fat Hen has been one of our favorite restaurants. The $95 prix fixe that we had fell short. The small bites, foie gras pate, and gemelli were terrific. The main course, steak, was not even average. The dessert, a tiramisu popsicle, tasted of freezer burn, and just wasn't right. The cost was 'way too much for this meal. The front of the house seems to have suffered since we were last there, and the place looks just a little shabby. We were disappointed and saddened and I hope this nite was just a holiday aberration.

Great place for a date

It’s one of the best restaurants in Somerville. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice evening dining experience.

Great dining experience - we thought the food was special and delicious!

We visited Fat Hen for the first time to celebrate my partner's birthday. Jacob was our outstanding waiter. He was very helpful with the menu and wine list and contributed greatly to our choices and ultimately, an excellent dining experience. My partner has not stopped saying that he had his best meal ever at Fat Hen! We'll be back!

We made 530 reservations ahead of B’s game and showed up early. We were the only people there at 5 on a Saturday night and the food and service was excellent. A small and quaint setting - they seat about 30 and we’d definitely go back.

Great little 30 seat restaurant. Food is immaculate. Foie gras terriene and the pasta with the duck confit were just delicious. Cannoli ricotta could be a little sweeter. Great dinner thanks.
