Farmer's Table - La Mesa
duck confit + vegetable duck ragu
red wine marinara + parmesan fresh basil + scallions
roasted cherry tomatoes + fresh basil + fresh mozzarella
This was our first time out after the quarantine. Dining at Farmer's Table was amazing...Service was excellent, and the food was delicious. It's a favorite in La Mesa. So happy they have reopened.
Food left something to be desired. Limp bacon cold eggs 5 beers 108 dollars....nice wait staff and ambience
They’re handling reopening during the pandemic with grace. I felt safe and the brunch was delightful.
Hidden gem in East County! Has unique dishes but unfortunately they were out of quite a few items last night. Service was pretty good but was lacking in some areas and the overall value was ok (pretty expensive). Will definitely be back though because they have unique flavors and it’s a perfect place for a special occasion!
All food was underseasoned. Kitchen looked dirty and unorganized.
Love the Margherita pizza! Friends enjoyed their salads and entrees, too.
Varied and thoughtful menu. Cocktail list was equally as varied with great seasonal touches. We'll definitely go back.
Fantastic as always!
They accepted a 10pm reservation, and once arrived they said it was closed. When I told the receptionist I have a reservation, he told me in a despotic way "don't know what yo tell you"
Delicious food, good service, cute decor!
Farmer's table in La Mesa is conveniently located on La Mesa Blvd, which worked out perfectly for my group. We had attended the Farmer's Market just up the street a couple of blocks, and has had stopped at San Pasqual tasting room for a glass of wine and to pick up a nice chilled bottle to take with us, before walking to our dinner at Farmer's Table. I had been there before and really enjoyed it and I hoped my guests would as well. We had made a reservation and as soon as we arrived our table was ready for us. Robert our server was a delight to interact with as he was very knowledgeable as to what was offered on the menu, and was attentive to our needs. Everyone had a great time and I know they are excited to go back and try something else on the menu, we really appreciated all of the fresh food choices.
The food and drink here is severely overpriced. It’s a great place, but more people could eat here and enjoy it if the prices were more reasonable!
I brought an out of town friend here; it was the first time there for all of us. Fantastic food and service. I would definitely go there again.
Got an egg Benedict. Was pretty bland. Thought about getting their sweeter breakfasts but wanted more sustenance so I went for the Canadian benedict. Sorely disappointed. My friend got their breakfast burrito which also lacked flavor.
We had a very good cheese board appetizer & short rib dinner. Although the polenta that comes with it is not my favorite. Great service & cute place!
Every time I visit Farmers , it’s fun. The pizza (Italian) is point on. They are very busy and service sometimes suffers. The staff is friendly and helpful. The salads are always a must along with the rest of the menu. I’m glad they are in La Mesa
Excellent place for dinner! Great food & service.
Great food! We all enjoyed our meals. GF options makes the meal enjoyable for all!
Breakfast was delicious. The atmosphere and service were both warm and welcoming. Great spot!
Service started off subpar, waitress was fine except we felt rushed. Food was OK, almost NO vegetables in either main course, which was the draw for “farm to table” in the first place!
Busy on a Saturday which was expected. Unexpected was our waiter who was rude for the first half of our stay. First she told us the bread and butter would come out when it would come out because they were busy. But other waiters didn’t seem to have that problem in getting that for their guests or for us when we flagged them down later. We also wanted to hold on to one menu to order more items, but the waiter took it away saying they needed it. But the hostess stand had at least 20 menus at the time! Soup of the day was very heavily salted and almost inedible and I like salt. Mac n Cheese was surprisingly good and not heavy. Octopus app was tasty and cooked nicely. Glad we tried it, but for the price, we will in the future eat at other establishments in San Diego serving similar menus at lower price point, but also executing it better and with more professional service.
Food was...meh. Beet salad was basically nothing but beats. Calzone had no sauce, and crust was charred so much it all tasted like charcoal. Beer was merely cool, not cold. Nice ambiance, poor execution.
great place and great food. Waitress was very helpful.
The food was great, the service was too slow. It took too long to get food. Our server was very friendly and helpful.
Been there twice, extremely noisy both times. Conversations must be shouted. Service was so poor I had to refill my water glass myself. I had to get a water carafe from the waiters station myself. After the food arrived no one bothered to ask us if everything was all right. Very slow service although admittedly the place was crowded with lunch patrons.
Was had the farm salad which was awesome and my wife had the ravioli dish which she loved and I had the pork loin which I also loved
Sorry to have to say this, but the service was so bad on Friday we had to leave. Our server came and welcomed us and never came back. There was no one around to tell this too so we never ate and we had to leave. It was a business lunch and we didn’t have half half an hour to wait for our server so we waited 15 minutes and walk down the street to another restaurant that was a little more welcoming. It was very disappointing especially since I had been there the day before for lunch and my waiter left for the day never to say goodbye or announced that he was leaving and there would be someone else helping us. Not a great way to run a restaurant that generally has good food and good service. Hope it gets fixed!!
Service wasn’t attentive. We had to keep getting someone’s attention:
It was a really good meal. I guess I was a little surprised by the pricing, though. Seemed a tad bit overpriced. But other than that, it was a good experience. Service was good, too.
The food was OK. They were not able to verify that one item marked GF and VEG was what it said and suggested it was likely a typo on the menu...that can be a pretty significant error for some people. The service was very good except the entrees came out while the starters were only about 1/2 eaten. I gave it an overall "very good" because we've eaten there numerous times with better experiences. I don't think we'll go back for dinner; maybe lunch for pizza or salads. Total bill with starters, wine and tip was about $240 for 3 people. Not what I expect for the price.
Loved restaurants week menu.
Reservation was for 630pm. Restaurant was packed but we were seated in a minute. You could see all the workers hustling and bustling. Took our order at 639.
I thought the bread was cornbread because it was so soft and crumbly. Overall not bad. Really taste the rosemary.
17 minutes for cheese board to come out but everything on it was delicious EXCEPT for the mustard. Wasn't a fan of that.
Also took a while to get water to us. We were all empty on water at 712 and didnt get a refill until 726pm. Happened twice.
Food took a full hour to come out but was expected with how busy it was.
Short-rib rigatoni was kind of just ehhh. I was disappointed in the dish. Our server did offer to replace it but I didnt want to be that cistomer. It reminded me of Dinty Moore in a can. Should be renamed Return-a-toni quick-ly.
Unfortunately the swordfish was pretty dry and flavorless as well. Didnt quite have the zest I was expecting.
Chicken was the best. Plenty of flavor from the very first bite. The lemon zest with the fire grill was unbelievably good and I dont even care for chicken.
Edit! I ended up ordering the pork loin. Night and day from the Rigatoni. The yam balanced out the flavor of the red cabbage and the bacon went well with pork.
Rodolpho the manager was very kind. Spoke to us towards the end of the night and apologized for the pasta but honestly other than the water hold up the service was excellent. He also let us know the short rib rigatoni was only for restaurant week (keep it off the menu).
Dessert was good. Latte was also very good.
This location is better than the Little Italy one. I would drive the 20 minutes to come back.
Food here is very good and a good variety of choices on the menu.
Just overall wonderful experience, made my daughters birthday memorable
First discovered this place during SDRW - Sep '19. Was happy to see it was back in the rotation for SDRW - Jan '20 because we liked it so much the first time and wanted to go back. Coincidentally we had the same table as before...so I guess it's tradition now. Will definitely go back again.
Service has been lacking the last couple of time we've been there. Still enjoying the food.
My fav place! Excellent service always and delicious food :)
A disappointing visit, more so because our first time last year had been so wonderful. The seared ahi was well done, the pork chop dried out and our server could have cared less.
We arrived on time to our reservation time but we were made to wait 20 mins. We told receptionist we would wait outside because we were getting in the way of waiters. When I went up to receptionist if our table was finally ready she didn’t know who I was and then proceeded to tell us they had called us. When I reminded her I had told her she offered an excuse but no apology.
The waitress service was mediocre. She seemed to be in a rush every time she came up to our table. She was not
This is my fifth time at a Farmers Table (Little Italy and La Mesa) and have always had a great experience.
