Very nice dinner for my wife's birthday. We had good service and the table was great.
Good food, service & drinks. Would dine there again. Recommended.
Really enjoyed the Sea Bass and my husband loved the stuffed sole. Our server was very pleasant but service was pretty slow.
Food was good, service was not. Was not checked on, did not come back and see how food was/offer more drinks, food was lukewarm, prosecco was food temperature.
The gnocchi were very good, so was the crab cake and the jar appetizer. The pizza was average, nothing great. The Mac and cheese for my kid were just ok, not restaurant quality.
Service was good and fast.
Horrible experience. Nothing went well. Incorrect and poor description of dishes. Slightly spicy pasta meant both people in our party had to send the dishes back because it was so spicy. Pizza came out cold so they made me a new one. Nice right? But then the second pizza was raw in the middle. I was so excited about the squash blossoms but the coating was so thick and dense that you couldn’t even taste the blossoms. The crab artichoke dip was oily. Desserts were lackluster and one was out so they brought out only the ones available and didn’t even offer to replace the missing one. Just an overall terrible meal and bad server training. $200+ for 4 people with 1 drink each, 2 apps, 3 mains, 2 desserts and 2 coffees. Ridiculous. One of the worse meals I’ve had in decades.
Great food, fun atmosphere and terrific drinks.
Nice ambience but food quality has done downhill. All dishes were average with nothing memorable. Given the price, it isn't up to par.
What a great little spot. The patio was super cute and loved how the restaurant was open and airy. The staff was amazing and the food superb. We really enjoyed the artichoke appetizer and the carbonara pasta.
We had a wonderful lunch. So happy that you are open.
Great place, great food, happy service (much more rare these days!) - definitely recommend!
We enjoyed the dinner. The server was wonderful.
Our only regret was it was during Octoberfest (or bad) and the parking was NOT fun.
We had the restaurant week special, the steak was fabulous, cooked to perfection chargrilled, the carrot salad was to die for. Excellent food
The food was great. We had an outdoor table that was away from most of the crowd which was nice. However, the service was very slow and we almost felt forgotten about.
Birthday ! 10 people and two of the 10 had to send there plates back because food was cold.
Can’t believe this restaurant is still open. Consistently terrible service, disgusting food, filthy chairs and tables, and way overpriced. Last time my order was served ice cold- and since they didn’t check in, just had to eat it. No discount or apology. Gross. Have been here multiple times because there are so few choices in East County, but will not be returning.
We came for Restaurant Week. It was our first time. The food was fantastic! We will certainly bd back!
Our dinner was so delicious! The crab cakes were light and fresh and the steak - oh my! Thick and juicy. Dessert was picture worthy and decadent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back soon.
Comfortable, pleasant environment to meet friends for HH which was excellent options and prices! I prefer a crispier pizza crust all around. Food was tasty, service impeccable and company the best!
I was invited to eat breakfast here years ago, shortly after the La Mesa location opened. We were seated just inside the open patio. I remember the incredible ambience and the delicious farm-to-table food. Everything about that experience was noteworthy!
We don't live in the area, so I haven't returned for years - until the other night. I was setting up a business meeting, and La Mesa was a convenient location. I remembered my experience at Farmer's Table, made reservations and was looking forward to hosting my wife and our guest to a memorable dinner and meeting.
The ambience was what might be expected for a Monday evening - and perfect for a dinner meeting. There was definitely energy, but the "buzz" didn't interfere with good conversation around the table.
Our server was personable, helpful and attentive. In fact, all the staff we encountered were friendly and hospitable.
My only disappointment of the evening was the food. Not to say that it wasn't good, but it wasn't the amazing experience I enjoyed at breakfast years ago.
We started with the calamari appetizer. It was seasoned well enough, but was cooked inconsistently so that we had perfectly deep-fried pieces and others were rubbery. In ordering our entrées, my wife was conflicted between two different dishes and went with the stuffed sole that our server recommended as "bursting with flavor." Once it arrived, the fish was baked nicely; it had a perfect, flaky texture, but everything lacked seasoning - including the crab meat and shrimp stuffing. Not that it was bad, but it was definitely not bursting with flavor.
The same was true of the pappardelle that I ordered. The beef ragu was tender - almost melt in your mouth. But, assuming that it simmered long and slow in tomatoes, onions, garlic, etc. it was surprising that it was just bland. Our friend ordered the truffle pizza and commented, "Yeah, it's good."
The prices were expected for what the menu promised, but not for what we received.
Food fell short of expectations for the price.
First of all let me say I'll be back. Overall I thought the food was good and the service was attentive. My problem is that, with tip my bill was 265 for three people. The value was not there. The appetizers were excellent but the entree plate presentation was not up to a level it should be. A $35 pork chop in La mesa should jump off the plate but the sauce completely covered the plate and destroyed the presentation. Same for the other two entrees at the table. The presentation is the premium we're paying for but it looked like Sunday dinner at your parent's house. Also the mashed potatoes, which came with everything were beyond bland and I doubt very much they were Yukon Gold which the menu said they were. But the real problem I had was one of their employees. She was a manager or assistant, not a server. She was walking around the dining room helping and eating food as she did. At one point she stuck her finger in her teeth like it was a tooth pick. Why she thought this was acceptable is beyond me. Anyway, I'll go back because I believe there are alot of positives in this restaurant. La mesa needs this restaurant to be a success, but they need to bring the value up or the prices down. They do not have a lot of room for error.
It’s menu is getting stale. Plus they were out of fruit and English muffins at breakfast?
I cannot say enough good things about the service, food and overall experience. It was amazing and we will definitely be back soon!
My Mom had sea bass, I had halibut both, too dry, overcooked and flavorless. Very disappointed, since they were the most expensive items on menu.
Brussels sprouts, figs and bacon were also burnt and calamari shrimp appetizer was cold!
We usually love breakfast, and thought we tried dinner. We probably won’t return for dinner.
Joel and other staff were superb!
Good food but a little pricey
Our meal was wonderful, the service was great. It is a little on the pricey side, especially the appetizer menu. But all in all a good experience.
Quick client lunch. Service was slow but friendly. I’m at the point of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. The old fashioned was poorly made; no excuse for that. But the manager or supervisor pop a shot in there once he saw from afar that I was scooping ice out of it. I was happy with that. Food was delish per usual!
The service was very good and attentive. We had the chicken and pork chop, both of which were cooked too much and were very dry (as were the vegetables with the chicken). We ate on the patio in the evening and flies were a constant companion throughout the meal. This was the first time that I had a moderate food experience here so hopefully it was the exception and not the norm.
Our server was over the top excellent. Friendly! Prompt! Just the best. Sorry I forgot her name
Brad was awesome. Ambiance was pretty. A little loud for my grandparents but fine for a younger crowd. Delicious food, great old fashioned. Free cake for bday! <3
Food and service were great. The flies are annoying but it’s hard to control that if half the restaurant is open
Charming sidewalk restaurant in La Mesa. It's Italian by the language you hear from the chef and staff but not quite Italian food. A nouveau cuisine featuring organic and local markets. Fun modern farm decor and the staff was friendly and quick. Just a different blend of flavors than I've had before, which was Artichoke Ravioli w olives and a non traditional tomato sauce. Tasted good and not heavy or rich, just fresh. My hubby had stuffed sole w crab and shrimp which he loved. We had no problem getting a reservation on this Thursday evening. With drinks be prepared to drop a Benjamin.
Date with my two besties
Fresh lovely flavors with outdoor dining. Nice atmosphere in downtown La Mesa.
Server Joel was great, good recommendations, especially on drink selection. Menu offerings change from time to time, but still a great variety in offerings and price point.
Great breakfast. Took my parents there and they enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great outdoor seating in a quaint neighborhood.
Everything was great! Especially our waiter who was so attentive and kept checking on us. The blackberry lemonade made with their version of moonshine - very delish! Also the truffle flat bread was yummy (maybe add a little truffle salt for us foodies in the back).
Timing of bringing out the main courses was poorly synchronized. Pizza had nice fluffy crust.
Service was slightly slow, but waitress was adorable. Food was really good, we will be back
