Farfalla - Los Feliz
Trattoria Farfalla in Los Feliz, California, is home to fine Italian fare with a fresh California-twist. It serves tantalizing dishes in its warm and cozy atmosphere. An antipasti dish such as the polenta e funghi corn cake topped with mushroom sauce makes for a great start to your meal. Trattoria Farfalla has baked and stuffed calzones, as well as pizza, like the unique “alla Brasiliana” topped with skirt steak strips and chimichurri sauce. Pasta dishes, such as the ravioli di rapini e patate stuffed with broccoli and potatoes with aged ricotta, are some of diners’ favorite meals.
Trattoria Farfalla also has take-out and delivery options, so you can enjoy its incredible cuisine in the comfort of your own home. There are also gluten-free pizzas and pasta substitutions available.
A local staple for 30 years. It was 30 years ago when I first tasted tiramisu, at Farfalla. They made me a tiramisu critic. Even they are not perfectly consistent--last Saturday it needed just a bit more cappuccino soaked ladyfinger and just a little less mascarpone. Nevertheless, what many restaurants and pastry shops call tiramisu is just a tasty treat perhaps inspired by tiramisu. We go for pasta, but don't hesitate to share a pizza.
Food was good, but overpriced. Wine list was large, but way overpriced. Service was very attentive. I didn’t go there looking for a bargain, but I left feeling that I could have found the same quality at a better value elsewhere.
WONDERFUL STAFF; HELP AND OLD WORLD FAMILY WITH YOUNG PEOPLE OF SILVER LAKE EATING THERE . ANDRA AND WAITERS COOKS FRIENDLY AND WE WATCH THEM COOK TOO.
Our server was fantastic. I can't remember his name but the service was outstanding, the food was hot and it was delicious. I had eaten at another location and it was not a memorable experience and never went back. Thinking this was a different restaurant I booked it and was pleasantly surprised. I will come back!
Great service and excellent food! It's a neighborhood gem!
Nice table and good atmosphere. The waiter came over and asked what we wanted to drink. we opted for Water and a hot tea. I quickly noticed the eye roll which tells me that the waiter thinks the bill won’t be that good since we don’t drink alcohol. That is a short sided thinking waiter because I can more than make it up in food. I am a former athlete with a big appetite. My wife order her entree and I ordered two. The waiter never once came by to see how we liked the food, or see if we needed anything. He never came by to refill our water glasses or more hot water for my wife’s tea. As I was finishing my second entree the busboy came by to remove a few plates. At that time I asked him to tell my waiter that I wanted to order a second pasta entree to take home because I enjoyed it and wanted to eat it for lunch the next day. Now we are up to 4 meals for two people. Not a bad $$ check so far.
The next time I saw my waiter was when he brought me my take home bag of pasta. As he sat it down on the table he said “ do you want anything else”? .. he never offered coffee or offered a dessert menu or even told me what the dessert options were. We actually wanted to order coffee and dessert, however with that kind of service I was so done and wanted nothing more with the meal. I asked for my check.
I always sit down with the intention of tipping 20%. It’s up to the server to make that number higher or lower depending on the level of service. I ended up tipping 15%, but honestly he didn’t even deserve that. This was an anniversary dinner and it certainly was forgettable
I can find good pasta in other places. I won’t return
It’s a pleasure to visit and consistently get a great tasting meal in a cozy setting without spending your whole paycheck. The wait staff is knowledgeable and can assist in pairing the right wine. I suggest making reservations as I’m not the only one who loves this place.
Love the ambiance. Food is always great as well as the service. Loved ghat we were seated promptly. Always worth going back!
NYE. It was packed at 5:30.
Without fail, the best Italian dining experiences in Los Feliz. Service is always good, but Alex, in particular, is outstanding. Highly suggested.
Excellent service and food! Andres is the best host! Best value in L.A.!
Always a great experience and food is always on point.
A true gem!
They are always WONDERFUL!
Excellent meal, attentive service, good atmosphere. A very enjoyable evening.
A long time favorite!!!!
Food is not real authentic italian but more for a general american audience. Quality not great and definitely overpriced especially the wines. 57 dollars for a Chianti? come on!
You can tell they have been here a while. Kind of phoning it in. Very mediocre food and service.
Food was very solid. Service is good, but the host/entry situation is kinda nuts. We basically had to flag someone down after 10 minutes. Still, the pastas are bangin.
Favorite neighborhood place. Good service, great food/
Minestrone soup was good, although a bit under seasoned. Both salads (house special with feta and caprese salad) were so-so as dressing was uneven and without much flavor. Strip steak was very good and veggie sides were nice as well.
The food was fantastic!! We both had ravioli, Ravioli Di Magro and also one with potatoes and broccoli. Both dishes were amazing and we ate every bite! The house Cabernet was delicious, as was the apple tart dessert. The service was good when we got it but not the most attentive once they got busy.
Wonderful service, friendly staff. The food was amazing! Don’t miss this hidden gem!
Lovely place to eat. Still the same good quality food.
Service was not great. Pizza was good.
Been coming here for years. Food is just as good as it was 20 years ago.
We tried something new which is always a risk, it was good, but our usual is better. We had a new waiter which also takes time to break them in. We have been coming here since they opened & will continue to come back. :)
As always it was great! The food, the service and the ambiance made our dinner with friends very special.
Great food and a wonderful atmosphere for dinner with friends
They give reservations for 4:30 PM but don't open until 5 PM, then are late opening at that time. Very disappointed. Went somewhere else where they respect you and treat you like a person. The Alcove down the street was much better than these bums.
Dinner prior to a show at the Greek.
Fish special of the day was just ok. Seating was very close to other tables & very noisy.
Authentic Italian. So good. Perfect pre Greek dinner. We will go back.
Pasta and soup was great, portions large, roasted chicken wasnt the best
Food is delicious! Sitting arrangements a bit cozy, but comfortable. Reservations needed. Food took awhile, but well worth the wait! Fly buzzing around inside...annoying, but would not let that stop us from coming back again!
Great food, service & wine.
Really good food at a reasonable price. Not too noisy. Loved the pasta I ordered but also ordered the garlic bread and it was a round pizza like thin thing. Not like your normal garlic bread. I liked the regular bread they put on the table. Service was excellent. I will be back.
My friend and I arrived at 12:25 for our confirmed 12:30 lunch only to find the doors locked with no note on the doors to explain. No one answered the phone either. We left to find another place, then returned at 2:00 to the same situation. When I spoke to the hostess that night, she told me that they had not updated their website to reflect "Summer Hours", and they are closed Mondays-Tuesdays. Given that Summer started 2 1/2 MONTHS ago, this seemed ridiculous. And Open Table still listed their incorrect hours. Once I told her about my upcoming negative review, she said that the owner would NOW take it seriously. But Summer ends next week, so. No offer for a free appetizer or anything to win me back. Just a lot of "Sorry's". I will not be offering any of my money to Farfalla regardless of the season.
No ambiance which is fine, pasta was good and nice portion, table bread was dry, Farfalla salad was sad. Lettuce wasn’t fresh and bread underneath was dry and bland. Service was great.
Pre-Greek Theatre dinner was very nice. Food was wonderful and meal came quickly. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Having been away for about 7 years, it was nice to see the overall quality maintained. I do remember, however, that 25 years ago, the Farfalla salad was spread over an entire thin crust pizza, which has not been the case, even since my last visit. The noise level was a bit much, as usual, but other than that, what started as a local favorite, has justifiably expanded in a citywide staple.
Very enjoyable dining experience with friends.
