Very nice for my date & me.
This place is the total package. Upscale feel and appeal yet very reasonable. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is always nice. It's always an evening well spent.
My food was overly salty, and the server wasn’t very attentive. Not sure if she was a newer employee, but the restaurant wasn’t crowded so I can only state my observations. For the price of the dinner (1 soup, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 3 cocktails) my partner and I still felt hungry after leaving. The noise level was moderately high, which was likely due to the full lobby outside the restaurant itself. All in all, an average dining experience and we most likely would not return.
It’s rare to have service like what we had at Fall Line. All the staff was very attentive, it was a great experience. The food was very good, I was in the mood for a cheeseburger and I’m glad that was the choice I made. It was cheesy and juicy and cooked perfectly. Fries were fresh and salty. My wife had the chicken, she said it was very good. Butter cake for dessert which was so delicious. We will definitely be back.
We decided to celebrate our birthday with the Igloo experience. I appreciated the Blue Tooth speaker in the Igloo that allowed us to set our own atmosphere. The lights and decorations was perfect. It was a very intimate setting.
We both order appetizers. I had the Crab-cake Hushpuppies. They was ok. Not really flavorful. I also didn't care for the dipping sauce provided with the hushpuppies. My Husband ordered the BLT Devil Eggs which he throughly enjoyed. I thought they was Ok but a creative idea.
Main Entree I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with Honey Glaze. I was disappointed. The Chicken lacked flavor and the drizzle was runny with a hint of spice. Nice try but it didn't work for me. The chicken tasted like Shake and Bake. It was very Tender. Also maybe a little Burnt in appearance. I didn't like the Cole Slaw at all. I couldn't describe the Taste. The Mashed Potato's had a Mushroom Gravy and I didn't enjoy the taste. my Husband had the Wagyu Steak and French Fries. I can say the Steal was very Tender. He enjoyed it. Once again just not enough flavor for me.
Signature drinks was average. The Mule and an Apple type drink which escapes me at the moment.
Best part of the meal for me was the Desserts. Hit it out of the park with the Gooey Cake and Strawberry Shortcake.
The Service was good. Andrew was our Server and he was attentive and offered a great experience. The Manager Mark was also a hit. He was disappointed I didn't enjoy my meal and compensated me without me asking. I appreciate yes it and was not going to complain about my meal. Also the Desserts was free in celebration of our birthdays.
I will try this place one more time. I will not do the Igloo. It served its purpose for the moment. I think more sites would make it more appealing.
Exceptional fare. Stellar cocktails. Intimate, contemporary vibe. A must for date night.
Our waitress was outstanding and helped with food allergy issues with kindness and care. The food was delicious and even better than we could’ve expected. Great location central to performing arts locations. Free valet for diners is a great benefit.
Potential to be a great place. Menu reads well but the food and or quality of the food did not deliver. We ordered pimento bites. Thumbs up. GREAT. French onion soup. They didn’t bake it to melt the cheese they used a butane torch and the fuel from the butane came through nicely in the soup. POOR. Shrimp and grits- wasn’t bad but wasn’t amazing either. Their choice of chili powders in seasoning was unexpected. Grits delivered more like mashed potatoes. Actually truly not sure it it wasn’t mashed potatoes. AVERAGE.
Worst dish of the night( and most expensive on the menu ) BRAISED Wagyu beef. Carrots literally burnt. I mean burnt! Meat was tender and tasty however sauce tasted like it came from a JAR LAST WEEK. Small portion which I do not mind. But the quality and execution was not there for a $32 dish. Not sure if I even got 3 oz of meat. I won’t even say POOR. I’ll say WORST DISH EVER.
DRINKS - outstanding
DESSERTS AMAZING. But I’m sure they got those at restaurant depot.
VERY FRIENDLY. Greeted us. Called ahead about reservation. Was impressed and excited when we walked in the place
he was training someone. Greeted us. Someone else brought our drinks and then he disappeared and we had to get another waitress to take our order. Someone should have trained him before you allow him to train someone else. He was nice but.. yeah…. I understand. It’s just hard right now.
amazing but clean your damn light fixtures. 🤮 greasy fingerprints. The dimly light lights draw your attention to them. Just sayin.
Would I try it again? Probably…
1. I’m forgiving
2. It is pretty convenient if you are staying at the Marriott
RECOMMENDATION TO THE RESTAURANT.
Either bring your food quality up or take your prices down until you can get it together. You are not in alignment with expectations, execution and delivery. An honest review to let you know areas you can work on. Hang in there!
Fall Line scores high on all levels: decor, ambiance, service, cocktails and food. The menu is a unique and upscale spin on southern "comfort" foods (this is not your grandmothers meatloaf and mac-n-cheese). Bonus: plenty of parking nearby as this restaurant is in the downtown Marriott. We will certainly go back.
Loved having a private igloo outside for a date night. Especially loved that we could adjust the temperature to suit our preference and play our own music on the included bluetooth speaker. So smart!
I took my husband there for his birthday. We wanted to try a new restaurant and this didn't disappoint!! The food was amazing. Every dish, every course so perfect. We will definitely be going back.
Fantastic service!! Everyone was so welcoming and attentive!
We loved our experience at Fall Line! Prices were a bit high, but that’s expected for a special occasion place like this. Everyone was kind and friendly and service was wonderful. I wish they included more apps and drinks on their happy hour menu though!
Low light and cozy. Everyone was very friendly. I got the oven roasted chicken and everything was cooked to perfection. The happy hour prices were a bonus! Great for dates
Isis was a great server. Atmosphere is amazing.
Chuck was also very helpful.
For our anniversary, we decided to try a new place. After reading rave reviews, we took a chance on FLK.
We were greeted warmly and given a glass of Prosecco for our anniversary. Nice touch! Our server was amazing. We tried their Old Fashioned cocktail, delicious. Crab hush puppies were so good, we could’ve eaten another order.
Next, a half dozen raw oysters. They were very small but tasted great. Since We weren’t very hungry, we each had the kale and apple salad for dinner. We ate every bite.
We are going back again on a Wednesday night, as our server informed us it’s half-price wine night for bottles under $100. Great place in a hotel. Highly recommend
Originally wanted to reserve the igloo but you have to email in advance for that. Did not mind because the inside is beautiful! Drinks are great and I really enjoyed the crab hush puppies. Had salmon entrees which were cooked perfectly and still juicy. Would love to come back.
Dining experience ruined when entrees arrived before we were half done with appetizers. Never had this experience before. Told runner, waitress and manager and all nice but did not address and seemed apathetic about my issue. Perhaps this is corporate owned and explains the lack of personal interest. They need to address their processes before I would return.
Had the braised waygu special, hardly any meat and a tiny portion, confusion over sides, what was and wasn’t available. When finally resolved it wasn’t delivered with my meal, they’d forgotten to ring it through.
In summary an overpriced hotel restaurant, plenty of other better choices in downtown Richmond.
Good afternoon, I am disappointed to hear that your food wasn't good or plentiful as it could have been. I would like to do a little further research regarding the confusion of the sides. Do you remember who your server was so I can touch base with them to ensure they know what our offerings are, moving forward? Sincerely, Chuck Peeks Restaurant General Manager
Very enjoyable experience. Very creative menu and everything we ordered was delicious.
First time going was a great atmosphere. Food was really good
Bait and switch. I booked directly by clicking a link titled “book your igloo experience” upon arrival at the restaurant I’m told I have a regular table, the link online is a mistake and there are only TWO igloos (which basically has a endless waiting list) but of course we stay, we eat. Sub par food, like a bowling alley trying to serve fancy plates. Cinebistro has better quality. All night people showed up for “their igloo” to be fed the same lines. Clearly this is a market strategy to lure people in. They got me that night but….Never again. Only thing good was the service, everyone was really nice.
Dinner for 2 - $150 with tip
Seasonal drink -$14
Crab ball hushpuppies - mainly filler
charcuterie board - so bad!! toast pimento cheese, small sausage, pickles and couple other things $17
Wedge salad - no
Kale - good
Chicken -mashed potatoes like water huge unseasoned piece of chicken
Shrimp & grits - tiny portion and no
Good afternoon Tiffany, I am distressed to hear about your experience on Friday. I would love the chance to make this right by you. Please contact me at email@example.com (minus the e) so I can discuss this further and hopefully be able to turn this experience around. Thank you in advance, Chuck Peeks Restaurant General Manager
This is a hotel restaurant and nothing more. The service was horrendous, so bad they ended up comping our drinks. And the food is completely average - bland flavors, and an uninventive menu. The prices may look upscale but this place most certainly is not. You can go dressed up but expect to be seated next to someone in sweats who just walked down from their room. If you’re going to drop over $100 on dinner and drinks for 2, go literally anywhere else.
Good afternoon, I sincerely apologize for your experience last Friday, I would like to have the chance to investigate a bit more regarding your food and service. Please reach out to me directly so I can learn more about your experience. firstname.lastname@example.org (minus the e). Sincerely, Chuck Peeks Restaurant General Manager
When we first pulled up to the Marriott I thought, "Oh no, not another hotel restaurant where everything taste like paper. How wrong I was. The food was incredible and our waitress Raven was very attentive and personable. I ate the pork which was a large bone-in chop very well seasoned. My husband had the pasta...Yummy. The atmosphere is a bit noisy being it is a hotel with check-ins and office Christmas parties, etc. but the restaurant was sufficient in buffering the exterior noise. I would highly recommend folks gives this restaurant a try.
While reservations were limited the restaurant was pretty empty but filled up when we arrived. The ambience was unique. Some elements like the mural and decorated trellis were nice but the draperies very clearly reminded me that I was in a hotel lobby. We were really happy with the crab hush puppies, they were crispy and the dipping sauce was flavorful. The happy hour drinks were a great value (love a 5 dollar glass of wine). Complimentary valet parking was also great.
The complimentary valet was a huge convenience. We were sat promptly w reservations. It was nice that happy hour was until 7. We had the crab hush puppies and corn bread apps, shrimp and grits and fried chicken. All were delicious. The cocktails were also great. A runner did spill a glass of wine which got two people in our party wet (accidents happen). It would have been nice if the management had offered to take the drink off of the bill. We were sat next to a waitress station, surrounded w curtains that was a bit noisy. Otherwise would recommend!
Our server Isis was very attentive and sweet!
Food and service were good. No ambiance in this downtown Marriot
Our first time in and the redo of the space is amazing. Unfortunate there's no restroom in the restaurant...a pretty good hike to the ballroom facilities. Service from Greg and Baileia was attentive, friendly and efficient, getting us out in an hour to catch an 8 o'clock show. The fried chicken and crab hushpuppies will get us back soon. Thanks.
Check this place out! We had fantastic service. We came for our date night and we were able to be seated quickly for our reservation. Come a little early on Friday because the valet at the Marriott was a little backed up.
Appetizers: Lump Crab Hush Puppies - if you can only get one. We also got the Deviled eggs, want to try the cornbread next!
Entrees: Roasted Waygu (melts in your mouth) and Fried Chicken (delicious breading, a ton of food and ultra creamy mashed potatoes)
Drinks: so much S.Pellegrino and a Lakeside Gin
Dessert: wanted the peanut butter and key lime pies... too full this time will do better next time!
Great all around
We had great service from beginning to end!! The place is tastefully decorated with a clean modern vibe. Our server, Jamari was outstanding- perfectly attentive and very upbeat. He had good positive energy which fed our souls. The food was superb. The crab hush puppies were lightly fried. It was a generous portion for 3 people. The entrees were cooked perfectly. The halibut was like butter. The hangar steak was seasoned right with the right amount of pink. The belly on pork chop was the largest I’ve ever seen. Very delicious. To top off the meal, we had the gooey butter cake which was scrumptious. Do not leave the table without trying this delightful dessert.
This was a truly wonderful dining experience.
Overall the experience at Fall Line was good. The ambiance was inviting, the staff very friendly and responsive, the menu offerings diverse, and the food delicious. I would absolutely recommend Fall Line to friends and return.
Andrew was our waiter and he did not disappoint. We had the hushpuppies as our starter and they were moist and crispy. The french onion soup was amazing the broth was flavorful and the cheese was gooey. The halibut was also flavorful with heirloom tomatoes and peppers along with the fennel and the sauce was awesome!
We didn't realize the restaurant is in the Marriott on 6th street and generally we're not big fans of hotel restaurants. The restaurant itself is appealing and our server was friendly, energetic and knew the menu. They do need to work a few kinks out in delivery. Our server let us know that they'd appreciate us ordering any appetizers and dinner at the same time to ensure we got our food in a reasonable time - an odd request but we went along with it. I asked her if that meant the app's and main dishes were coming at the same time and she said no. Well, they didn't arrive at the same time, but I wasn't even half way done with my salad when our meals did come.
My pork chop with the belly on was excellent. A great cut of pork, well flavored and perfectly cooked. My wife's bucatini with a beurre sauce was, as she said, basically pasta and butter sauce - she wasn't that thrilled.
The food and service were great. Would definitely come back again
Wow! Food was fantastic, easily one of the best restaurants in Richmond. Highly recommend!
The food and drinks were fantastic. Service was great. The only issue was the noise. The music level could be turned down some. It was hard to hear those at the same table. That said, it was nice to get out and visit a place that seemed to have staff that really enjoyed their job. Highly recommend.
I was very excited to try this place out, and it did not disappoint! Service was great, cocktails are awesome!
My wife and I split the clam chowder, crab hushpuppies, and Southern Fried Chicken and all three exceeded expectations!
Definitely would recommend checking it out for yourself.
Reset of the bar on a Saturday night and had great service from Andy. Can't wait to come back again.
