Fairchilds Public House
Fabulous meal and service. My drink was subpar, but everything else was top notch.
Three out of the four of us had the salmon, and it is prepared beautifully. We loved the vegetable that was served with it.
We had a little trouble locating the restaurant as it was a very large complex of buildings. Parking was plentiful and it was free parking.
We had a very nice female waiter and she had a very pleasant personality. We all enjoyed what we ordered.
Great ambiance. Nice service. Food was so terrible I couldn’t even eat it. Chicken sandwich was a fatty grizzly thigh in a tasteless batter.
I ordered the mussels and within 30 mins of leaving I was getting violently ill in the bathroom of the Icon theater. So...
While it was interesting being drenched in cold sweat and nearly passing out and lying down in a public bathroom floor, I won’t be back.
I think these guys have a promising property but need some work to realize it so it is a cool craft beer kind of place. They need to take a look at state of mind to understand how to create a better atmosphere.

Just meh hotel food
I read a review in the paper so decided to try Fairchilds PH. Cocktails (Martini, Cosmo & Mule) were generous and very good. We ordered beef & fish tacos ($18). Tasty, but rather pricey for 2 tacos & some chips. We asked for sour cream & guacamole & they were brought to us right away with no additional charge. Restaurant was busy for a week night and it's obvious that wait-staff is doing their best to serve drinks and food in a timely manner. Down-side was a group of about 8 people in a corner table shrieking, laughing, yelling with absolutely zero regard to other patrons. Fairchilds acoustics is such that noise is amplified in their large dining room. Finally after what I imagine were several complaints/requests from customers, staff must have asked the group to quiet down. They complied, but it shouldn't take customers to start the ball rolling on this. I might go back for a drink (only).
The outdoor terrace is such a treat. Lovely ambiance. This is my second time at Fairchilds and the service has been wonderful (although both times have been quite early - during happy hour.)
I believe it has potential. It was empty when we went so no ambiance. I thought the food was a little expensive. And the biggest irritant, though not talking too much money, when server asked if I wanted more iced tea and then I was charged for a second cup. The first server, the second server needs lots of training.
The food was excellent - the acoustics inside made the place very noisy, but the patio was quieter. They seem to be working out the kinks on the service - Raymundo was very attentive, but the guy bringing our drinks came up from behind and didn’t look at my uncle and said “How are you ladies doing?” He never even looked at my uncle. But it’s new, and hopefully he will be fired.
The setting was relaxed and open. Service was excellent and the Happy Hour prices were an amazing value. The calamari and the poke tacos were excellent!
The service has remained poor, and the food has gotten worse. My steak sandwich bore no resemblance to the same sandwich ordered a couple weeks ago - just a pile of rubbery steak on a store-bought bun. Disappointing because it’s a nice space.
It’s too bad this place fails to even be a good restaurant and is certainly nothing like a public house. It’s an overpriced hotel restaurant with mediocre food and painfully slow service.
Severs need to be trained
This new spot is fine but nothing special. The explanation of the name is too aspirational and ridiculous, which is a fair way to describe the entire experience. Our server was pleasant enough but seemed to lack training in food and beverage serving. She did not have anything near a clear grasp of the wines by the glass nor did she know to offer a taste before a bottle was fully poured. Also her hair was hanging loose and needed to be pulled back. We never did get plates for our shared starter despite the fact that she said she would bring some. The food was ok, calamari not hot enough and over cooked, pokey bowl, too much greens, no rice, and not very much fish, the spicey chicken was tasty and well spiced.
Came here for happy hour. It was a good value for the food and drink choices. Just wish they didn’t put a mayo sauce on everything like calamari and poke nachos. The Brussels sprouts, edamame hummus, and truffle fries were delicious! Service was also very good.
It’s located at the bottom of the Hyatt hotel in downtown Mountain View.
Went here for the first time for dinner Wednesday night, as we’d driven by the restaurant a few times recently. The atmosphere is lively and pleasant, we would definitely have hung out in he lounge over drinks if we had shown up earlier.
We were seated quickly after we arrived for our reservation at 7:30, but the speed ceased after that. Our waiter was very kind and helpful, but it took at least 15 minutes for us to get water and order our first drinks. We waited another 15-20 minutes to receive our bubbly (for 2 out of 5 of us), and we waited at least 45 minutes total for our appetizers to arrive after we’d ordered them.
We ordered the Mushroom toast w/cheese on the side, and the pretzels app. Pretzels were fine, but beer cheese fondue for them was cold. The mushroom toast had the cheese on top but at this point we just took it as it was bc we were really hungry after waiting so long. We received our entrees about 30 minutes after the appetizers, and the plates from the apps weren’t cleared until literally just before we got our main courses. My dad ordered truffle fries instead of regular with his chicken sandwich, and they served regular instead. My brother had subbed roasted potatoes for the Brussels sprouts with his ribeye and he received a double order of French fries. He had also ordered the steak medium-rare and it was definitely medium well, not rare.
We didn’t make a big deal of the mistakes bc again, we were hungry! But the restaurant DEFINITELY seems to still be working out the kinks both with the service and the food. We enjoyed our time there despite the long waits and food mishaps, and we’ll give them another chance in a few months. Hopefully they will have fine-tuned their service by the time we come again.
Although we reserved a table we were seated in the back and there were long delays between ordering and receiving our order. We arrived before the end of happy hour and it took over 15 minutes to get our first drinks, which were a bit watered down. The server came back at 7:05 and graciously allowed the rest of our party to order drinks and food from the happy hour menu. The venue is in a hotel and not on the main drag so parking is a little easier but it’s somewhat isolated.
For a not so full restaurant the service could have been faster
Food was decent, but the big let-down was the service. Both the greeter/seater and wait-staff was a bit clueless and slow.
They are still figuring out everything as part of a soft opening. The servers are not completely familiar with the menu, especially the cocktails and wine menu. The entrees were delicious and just the right portion-size. Would go back for happy hour.
