My wife and I were on vacation in London and found this little gem on Open Table as it was within walking distance from the Marriott (right across the street). It is part of a hotel, but the food was really good, the staff extremely attentive and we even had a chat with the chef about risotto dishes. I would highly recommend you try it!!

First the location wine and service were lovely and they were open on Christmas night. For that we were thankful. Unfortunately beyond that it was uninspired and barely edible. I don't enjoy giving bad reviews but we paid £213 for the worst Christmas dinner we've ever had Traditional Christmas dinner was fried bread puff as the amuse bouche. Fennel salad was tasty as was the fried shrimp. The turkey was a white/dark meat roll that was so dry it was hard to eat. The vegetables were boiled brussel sprouts and potatoes with no taste and less texture. Gravy was salty and sparse. Dessert was Christmas pudding that was so dry it broke apart with a fork. Clotted cream was curdled. Chocolate mousse was tasteless thank heavens for the sparse smear of passion fruit to give it a little tang. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or tea with our dessert. This restaurant is part of Hotel Xenia the high-end Marriott (the Autograph collection of Marriotts). I am sad to say the turkey dinner I had on the flight to London (in coach class) was better than the dinner we had here. I could not recommend ever dining here.

The intimate feel of the upper level of the restaurant was very good for a small family party, the set menu offer with Prosecco was excellent value, staff were friendly and welcoming, the wine list offered lots of options for every budget, great presentation...a good find and we would definitely return if staying in the area again.

We booked at 5pm for a pre-Proms dinner which coincided with the restaurant's opening time. Unfortunately the kitchen had apparently had a very busy lunch event so wasn't really ready for us and a reduced menu was in place. The food was good but served on cold plates which further didn't help and as we were on a tight timetable then not something we really wanted to resolve. The deserts were fine. The waiting staff were very apologetic and couldn't have done anymore to try and please us. A bit disappointing and maybe we were just unlucky. Would go back but not when under time pressure- for a long lunch perhaps.

Very pleasantly surprised by our experience. The only disappointment was price of water, juice and dessert - which were ridiculously expensive, so this makes us think twice about a return visit.
