    Definitely style over substance! The brunch board which looks fab on social media was a big disappointment - especially at £28! - with the worst pancakes I've ever tried in my life (thick and stogy!) I've had much better waffles and French toast elsewhere too, it definitely didn't come across as having been freshly prepared. Such a shame.

    Eve is a lovely venue with lots of potential. This was my 3rd visit. The food has always been good, choice is great and prices are reasonable. My main gripe is with the slow service and lack of staff visibility. After 20 mins of waiting we had to go up to the bar and ask for someone to take our drink order. Staff were around the bar but chatting to eachother. This is poor. Throughout the meal the waiter was chatty, but we had to call them over for drinks again. At the end there was literally not one staff member around. We waited a good 10-15 mins. In the end I had to walk to the other bar to ask for the bill. The restaurant was quiet, we were the only table there by 10pm. Because of that there wasn’t much off an atmosphere. I felt bad for the DJ. I don’t know if Eve is not that well known yet, possibly because it’s in the hotel. They need to do more to get people in and help create a better crowd. It’s a shame as its location, decor and food make it worth a visit.

    Unfortunately our experience was not great. The food was quite pricey and wasn’t good. The bread was stale, the eggs were cold (almost like they were pre poached). Very small portion for the amount - we had the avocado Benedict for reference. The staff were not attentive - we asked for water and never got it, the coffee also tasted like it was old. The staff walked around without looking at the tables, it seemed to be poor management. The venue is beautiful and the live music was great. I just think more training for staff is required and the food definitely needs a huge overhaul.

    We had a table booked for 3 o’clock. We arrived at 5 past 3 and were seated, we then sat till 3:30 and never even had a drinks order taken, we then decided to leave and we would eat/drink elsewhere terrible service which is a shame as we really looked forward to trying the food and cocktails won’t be back.

    My friends and I were celebrating some very special news and the staff at Eve went above and beyond to ensure we had a brilliant celebratory brunch. Tara was superb to deal with prior to our arrival, Maisie and Colin were fantastic as our waiting staff on the day. We honestly couldn't have asked for more! The food was delicious, from the small plates (salmon poke, avocado benedict, chicken burger) to the sharing platter (the sweet platter). Just perfect. The cocktails were innovative and very moreish and the prosecco was one of the nicest we have tried. We were at the themed brunch and the band, Cow Cow Boogie, just added perfectly to our special day. We honestly had a ball. Eve is a secret wee gem of a place, with the loveliest courtyard! Just an amazing experience and we will definitely be back.

    What an outstanding find! Food was excellent, decor amazing, staff perfect! It's the small things that make places like this outstanding. The staff were impeccable, attentive and lively and seemed genuinely interested in us. Food was outstanding and we will return. I highly recommend!

    We went for drinks to Eve, in the Virgin Hotel. Very nice surroundings in the heart of the city. We had some cocktails and a few other drinks on Sunday afternoon. Drinks were good, cocktails are at the upper end of what you would expect to pay in Edinburgh however probably befitting the location. Decor and ambience was good. My main gripe would be the service. After being seated for about 5 minutes a waiter came to take our order. We advised we were having drinks but were still waiting for one of our party to arrive any minute, so we asked him to come back in two minutes. He said fine and he would get us water in the meantime. He then disappeared off to the outside terrace and it was a good 10-15 minutes before he returned and took our drinks order. There were a few other staff milling about but none near our table and short of going up to the bar and directly approaching someone else, we had this wait. Add another 10 minutes or so for the cocktails to be made and it was a good 30 minutes from taking our seat to getting a drink. Of course there is a further 12.5% service charge added to your bill (which I paid) and the card machine is presented with no mention of this and if you were happy with that. So in summary, nice place, pricey and service could be better...management please note if you read these reviews.

    Had seen a bit of hype around this restaurant and booked for our date night. Arrived about 25mins early and stood at empty hostess station in the bar area for 10mins before we were approached, we were directed to the bar but the waiter didn’t take our name. The poor Barman was run off his feet alone in the bar that we couldn’t get a drink menu let alone a drink. About 5 mins before our reservation time, I went to find out if our table was ready and was directed to another hostess station next to the toilets. We were told our table wasn’t ready but they had another available. We were stuck in dark corner next to the coat stand and the bar where we could hear the staff complaining about how much of mess the restaurant was. The menu was so difficult read given how dark the corner was and after waiting a further 10 mins with no sign of service, we left.

    This restaurant is amazing, very beautiful. The staff were pleasant but I felt the service wasn’t as good as it could be and half the staff were not in uniform so it was difficult to know who were staff and who weren’t. For such a nice restaurant I felt the service could have been slicker. Our order had mistakes and a cocktail needed to be sent back. £4 for a small dish of smashed avocado seems a bit much. I’d love to go back sometime if the place was run more efficiently.

    The food was amazing and very filling, cocktails tasted amazing and was able to get a custom made one which was great! The live music was very good and made the time there even better, would definitely recommend to anyone and will be going again once we are back in the city

    It was my partner and i’s first time at Eve on Friday 25th and we absolutely loved it. The staff were amazing, the food was unbelievable, the cocktails were lovely & I loved the fact you could pick a cocktail that wasn’t on the menu and they would make it for you. The music & vibe was so relaxing and chilled. It’s definitely high end service and food with relatively normal & reasonable Edinburgh prices. I have already booked to come back for brunch for my birthday. I can’t wait!

    It was a great vibe for a Saturday afternoon with a live band, but very loud for the space. Food was fine, poke bowl ok, too much rice and bit stodgy. Chips warmish. Staff are great but big area to cover and so not really attentive, had to keep looking for staff for service. Overall great place for drinks and chillin, wouldn’t bother with the menu.

    Some dishes very fairly priced such as the beef brisket which was billed as a small plate but was a genuine meal even without sides. Beware, it’s spicy! We also had the fish, sliders, monkfish & chips. Flavours were good all round. Only feedback would be the chips which were just frozen chips presented well. I don’t mind that they were frozen chips necessarily but i do mind paying city centre prices for them! Cocktails were lovely, we tried 3 & none disappointed. The location is nice, décor interesting & outside area unique. Seats are very comfortable so it’s easy to hang out there for a long time. The drinks menus are looking a bit ragged & could do with a new print. It’s nice but the website overhyped it.

    We went for the brunch menu which wasn't on so we had the regular menu anyway as we were starving and it was Friday during the Fringe so unsure if we'd get brunch somewhere else nearby at short notice. We had the £55 sharing plate and charcuterie. Aside from the charcuterie being terrible (a packet of small supermarket cold pepperoni only) the rest of the food was decent. The drinks were ok too. The service was slow though and it was hard to get the attention of staff. Also, the atmosphere was non existent - the music was almost silent. The venue has potential but we didn't enjoy our time here overall. I put in the booking notes that we were in for brunch so it was disappointing that no one told us in advance or when we arrived that this menu wasn't on. A table who arrived after us and sat directly behind us left for this reason too.

    A great place to get away from the Fringe crowds for something different to eat. We were a group of 8 and 2 small plates each was plenty and very tasty. The service was good, friendly and welcoming.

    Fab meal in lovely surroundings. Our waiter was attentive, helpful, friendly and funny. We had the sharing platter which had a great variety of delicious dishes. I would thoroughly recommend it.

    Superb bar, food and vibe. This was a family birthday celebration However having spent over £500 for a table of 6 on the evening I was very disappointed to see that I had charged for a £26 bottle of wine that we did not order or have at our table. When i tired to rectify this in person, I was told by manager that he could not do a refund for me as he did not know how to do it and that he would have to check with his finance dept re how it can be done. A very disappointing response and at time of writing this I have still had no confirmation that I will receive said £26 refund.
