Ettan - Palo Alto
Loved the food and ambience, I am big fan of dal makhani served 😍
We loved the food and ambience!!! There was a bit of a wait despite taking reservation. That was a bummer. Nevertheless, loved our time there.
Our waiter was professional and patient about our girly chit -chatting. The rest of staff who helped us were friendly and knowledgeable on the questions we had over the sauces
We celebrated our 2nd marriage anniversary.
It was worth it!
The food, drinks oh my god just perfect..
Wonderful, surprising dinner for Father's Day. The service was great, especially considering how busy they were, the food was eclectic and tasty, creative cocktails.
The music was too loud and very TikTok generation, food was okay, but had beautiful presentation. Service extremely slow none attentive waiter, appetizers were all late and didn’t arrive at once for a large dinner party.
Too overpriced for everything.
Awesome food with amazing ambience
The food was absolutely fabulous! The brunch menu had just the right kind of food and such amazing renditions to some of the favorite Indian street food. We will be back for dinner for sure :)
Loved the setting and Ambience
Half the party was running late because of a delayed flight, but they were so accommodating allowing us to order before the kitchen "closed" but didn't start making our food until we got there. Every dish is unique and flavorful. The portions are on the smaller side, but it just gives you an excuse to order more and try different things. Love the people, the decor, the food. Moving to the east coast and will miss this place dearly!
It was an experience dining at Ettan. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend the Vada pav and the monkey buns.
Good was good - not great - cocktails were below average - overall a decent place
Beautiful location and food excellent
Good food and environment. Had a few issues with allergies
The non-alcohol drink and vada pav were tasty - but the vegi options we chose were average or below average. The menu says moong panneer, but what is the usual palak panneer with some raw moong sprouts thrown in. The other item was a dish with asparagus cooked in banana leaves. Sounds exotic but really nothing memorable about it. Both are called “large” dishes and are priced at $30 each the portions were very small.
For my husband’s birthday we went for the first time to Ettan last night. The event was truly memorable, we loved the ambiance, the energy, the friendly and competent staff. Our server José Mendez was above and beyond!!!! But let’s not forget the food, the wines and the cocktails! They were absolutely amazing, we tried the caviar, sesame crisps, chicken, octopus. The bread and the coconut rice stood out! We will certainly come again soon and would recommend for special occasions or date night.
Amazing food and service! Creative dishes for whole family!
Amazing ambiance, amazing food and amazing service. Already been there twice now and will go back again.
Had such a great time. Our waiter was a delightful person and we will definitely be back. Thank you!
Excellent food and amazing taste. I would certainly come back for the food & ambiance. There was absolutely no flaw in any of the dishes and the chefs suggestions were awsome. Drinks were imaginative and refreshing. However there was a lack of imagination in the plating and presentation for the dishes, which i did not expect from the chef Sri. But the food was a delight and portion sizes were awsome..
Tldr; not really worth the money you end up having to spend.
The cocktails were okay, nothing to write home about. Good fried chicken, monkey buns were quite novel. The rack of lamb was the most expensive item on their menu, but very disappointing. The meat itself was lacking quality, and wasn’t cooked well either. One side was medium and the other well done. Flavors didn’t really come through either. The grilled pineapple dessert was different, but not genius.
Maybe sticking to the more “desi” items on the menu will leave diners happier.
I have been to Ettan for lunch and then for a family dinner. We really liked Ettan and their hospitality when we went there for lunch. However, our most recent experience (last night) was drastically different from the lunch we had at Ettan a few weeks ago.
We had made a reservation online in both cases.
When we made a dinner reservation, we requested a high chair for our 3 year old nephew. It turned out to be the first dinner the little guy had at any restaurant. We were asked to wait for a couple of minutes & our special requests - high chair + a birthday cake were not acknowledged when we checked in although I reminded the person who greeted us about the high chair.
A high chair was not given to us initially and we had to ask for it multiple times. The table we were offered at first did not meet our expectations either as I had emailed Ettan earlier and specifically requested if we can be seated at a relatively farther & quiet corner. When we asked for a different table, one of the Ettan team members asked us if we had a reservation. They were not on top of things at all! The staff who waited on us & served food did not give the child water although we were served water in glasses / place a plate in front of him either. The child was waiting patiently and did not fuss about it at all. We had to ask them to make our nephew comfortable several times. Most of the dishes we ordered were either cold / not reheated properly. Nothing seemed particularly fresh. However, the staff did not even apologize for the lack of courtesy. Very disappointing!
If you make a request for a birthday cake, please be warned that it is not a cake that can be shared as it is complimentary & very small. We could've brought our own birthday cake if we were informed when we inquired & made a reservation earlier. When I shared this feedback & requested to get some cake / desserts to go, we were not even offered the desserts menu / asked if we needed any other desserts.
excellent food and service from the arrival to the end of the meal. well balanced flavors for the dishes and great recommendations from our waiter
Good experience. Food was delicious and there were.plenty of vegetarian options. Sesame chat and black pepper cauliflower were crowd favourites. Deducting a star since we told them that it was a special occasion and had asked for an outdoor table. They seated us indoors at a table in front of the service station, so the ambience was not great. But the service was super attentive. Overall a good experience.
The food was amazing, and the staff was so nice. Beautiful interiors too.
Best place to have Indian food in the bay area. I drive all the way from SF. The delicacies offered by Chef Srijith and his team are awesome. I am vegetarian and love the: Vada Pav, Seasame leaf chat, Edamame Vada, Naan, Roti, Dal Makhani, Mung bean paneer, Paneer makhani and chocolate puck desert.
I love this place! Food, ambience, service, location
My second visit to Ettan did not live up the expectations. The food was so so and the overall experience was not as good as I was hoping it would be.
Delicious food, great service
Great ambience, but this was not cal-Indian cuisine. We had both North Indians, South Indians, and Californians in our party none of them could decipher the cryptic menu. On top of that the food was bland and the portions were tiny.
Great place to visit. Would recommend more to go there for dinner, lunch had less choices. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the food was great.
Food was great and the setting was fantastic. Beautiful interior. Service was very slow to get our food. Hard to get any server’s attention in general. Considering the amount you pay for your meal here I would expect more impeccable service. Definitely needs major improvement.
Great ambience, nice music and the food is amazing!
It was an absolute experience. The food was on point all the flavors and pairings went so well. The decor added so much character to our dinning experience.
Fantastic food and service!
Food was amazing and the ambiance is the cutest I’ve seen.
The restaurant is full of sunlight and have beautiful decor. I'm usually not a big fun of Indian food but I still think the food is delicious!
It was a birthday celebration, restaurant could have had something personalized for the event.
Great food & ambiance. I would definitely recommend trying it out. Just make sure u have a reservation especially for weekends.
Our first visit. Food was very good, service was quite slow.
