Really enjoyed Estuary. My wife and I took a weekend trip to DC to checkout the Cherry Blossom Festival. Stayed at the Metro Marriott and wanted a close restaurant. Very happy to have found Estuary. Service was excellent. Drinks were amazing. Food was excellent. Had a charcutier appetizer. Excellent. I had the Carbonera dish and my wife had the rock fish. All excellent. Would definitely be back again.

Overall a very pleasant dinner. The food was pretty good, but not over-the-top memorable. The fish dip was the best thing we had. The onion tart was good but the seafood carbonara was too rich and really didn't hold together as a dish. The beet salad was also pretty good, but the dressing was a little runny. The wine list is ridiculous-- only a half dozen bottles under $75. Most were over $200-- including $500+ for Chinese wine. Seriously?

We have been to Estuary numerous times and loved it. We make a special trip and stay at the Conrad to dine here. This time the food did not meet our expectations. The mushroom risotto needed seasoning. The oatmeal was mushy. The fruit that we got to go was moldy. It was not the experience we grown accustomed to.

We went to Estuary pre-covid and had a nice experience. Our recent visit was far inferior to the last. Instead of sitting in the actul restaurant space, we were at tables set up in the bar area. It was not the same intimate experience we had previously. We were two feet away from a large group in the bar area on the sofas having cocktails. While our server was pleasant and attentive, it felt more like a bar server than a regular dining service server. We had the roasted cabbage with kimchi fried rice and while it was very good, the temperature was not as hot as it could have been which diminished the experience.

We were in town for my kids spring break. So this is more from a family perspective. raw oyster appetizer—wonderful: fresh, sauce homemade French fries—-wonderful: not greasy, homemade ketchup My son had the short rib with grits—he said it was the best/largest piece he has ever had which is true bc by time short rib is cooked it’s shrunken down to a tiny portion. I had the seafood bouillabaisse—-it was fresh and not salty. The fish was really good at the bottom

This would be a fantastic place for any group who wants to actually talk and not have to yell over the noise. Service was perfection, and my meal was a delight. I had the apple/custard starter, ceviche, and the rockfish entree. I can’t find fault with anything (not that I was trying), except I don’t understand why they weren’t slammed with business. Can’t wait to go back on my next trip.

I enjoyed lunch at Estuary; however, there are limited options on the menu. The burger is phenomenal but should come with a side of fries - not as an add on. The cabbage dish was tasty for a vegetarian but, just a thought, the addition of bulgogi or some pork would be a great option for someone wanting protein. Service was very good.

My wife and I had their expensive Valentine's Day dinner and it was mostly OK. The biggest problem for me was that the steak dish had some unchewable pieces of gristle or connective tissue or something. At those prices that simply is unacceptable. The service and ambience and wine pairings were good, but not particularly memorable.

I had a wonderful experience. I usually treat myself to brunch after church to unwind and reflect on the days sermon. The food was delicious and overall the customer service was impeccable. They were very accommodating. I was not a hotel guest but they did not treat me any differently. I ordered way more than I should, but I’m 5 months pregnant. The food came out quickly and they allowed me to take my time to eat and let my food digest, although they were closing down for the day. Five stars across the board!

We went to this establishment for restaurant week. While I might have misread the online menu, there was a rigid menu that did not allow for any choices besides the dessert. In addition, everyone at the table had to order the same restaurant week menu. With the lack of options, everyone at the table would be eating the same items, removing the ability for us to try multiple dishes. The place was also inflexible. We asked our server if it was possible to order two items a la carte and then order a restaurant week item. If profit was their concern, we were paying triple by our suggestion. While the server was excellent and attempted to ask on our behalf, the establishment refused and would only offer a 6 dollar discount off the full price main course item ($26) being offered on the restaurant week menu. This option also didn’t include the salad or dessert from the restaurant week menu. Therefore, we’d be paying 20 dollars for one item off the restaurant week menu and get nothing else compared to the restaurant week course set that was $25 dollars. The restaurant week courses were also a reduced potion size. Therefore, the value was nonexistent. We settled on ordering 2 completely different main courses normally and skipping the restaurant week option. We did also order the restaurant week main course item separately since we were already there and hungry. The food was quite good. However, I would definitely not return and I would advise anyone who wanted to try it out for restaurant week to skip it. There is no value and it is such a small sample of what this place offers.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to take advantage of restaurant week and try this restaurant. Overall very nice experience, the food had very good flavor. We both ordered the Caesar salad and short ribs. For dessert my husband had the sorbet and I had the carrot cake. As I said everything was very tasty. My only concerns, my short rib had a large chunk of fat which made my portion smaller. I thought I would make up for the smaller portion with dessert, but the slice of cake was small. It was the first time I left a restaurant hungry and I am a small woman. My husband on the other hand was very happy and comfortable. I was also surprised it was not noted we were celebrating a special occasion which I put in the notes. Everyone we came in contact was very pleasant. Yes, I would try the restaurant again.

We came here for our usual date night, the service could have been better, our initial server lacks personality, just dry!. Rafael saved the day, very pleasant, and was helpful with taking our orders for appetizers after almost 25min. Also, brought me hot water for my tea that was served Luke warm. The manager was also present and checked on us a few times. We ordered the fish (flounder ) to share, was good and came a la carte. We ordered the smoked cabbage for the rice to share but that was a mistake. The plate had like 5 tablespoons of rice on it with a big huge cabbage for $29. You have this huge fish that was served with nothing but some veggie on top. The roasted oysters were the star of the night. Hush puppies were just okay. Also, the oysters had trout ROE and the grilled fish. I think am good on trout Roe for a while. We went to the bar and was charged $10 more for something I didn’t order. The bar tender said “I just clicked a button”. Well you clicking the wrong button was going to cost me $10 if I had not paid attention….. will I come back ? Maybe for the ambience and drinks but not for the food. It was okay.

Dined at Estuary on Christmas Eve and enjoyed their 4-course (5 with dessert!) Feast of the Seven Fishes. Every course was delicious, from the roasted oysters with smoked marinated trout roe—which converted two roe skeptics—to the beautifully presented whole fish and creative playful dessert. Service was attentive and lovely without being smothering. The ambiance was cozy and elegant, but not so formal as to feel stuffy. We would gladly return to dine a la carte or enjoy a drink (the cocktails were fabulous too!) at the bar. Looking forward to it!

The complimentary bread for the table was awesome , hush puppies too much breading not enough filling . ribs and grits were good , didn’t particularly enjoy my pasta dish . The deserts weren’t the greatest. Didn’t like the pear desert , the other was fine . Looks like their menu changed because most of the beer food reviews they had online weren’t on the menu . Our waiter did good considering his tables were so far apart from each other . Quiet ambience

First time to go back to Estuary after 2 1/2 years of pandemic absence. The new female chef has brought Asian flavors to the menu, a surprise discovery. My friend and I tried seven dishes ( four appetizers plus one dessert) The fish dip , the crispy pig ear lettuce wrap and the zucchini noodle Dan Dan mien style are standouts. The service was very attentive and professional. The place has the best view in DC, overlooking the glittering City Center Plaza with the towering Christmas Tree.

My husband and I were staying at The Conrad and had a dinning credit to use from our credit card. We were celebrating our anniversary and this restaurant was amazing. Prior to our reservation we had drinks and hush puppies out on the heated patio, Winter Bay. Excellent service and such a great spot to hang out. My husband love the inn keeper cocktail. Back at Estuary we were seated along the windows near the kitchen. It did not seem loud, but my only complaint is that it was too bright. The tables all had little lights on them, which seemed like they would look great with the lights lowered. It almost seemed like someone forgot to lower the lights. For our appetizer we got the fish dip, which was great. It came with some crackers and a couple of slices of toasted bread. We each had a glass of wine and complimentary champagne because of our anniversary (thank you!) For dinner we ordered the bouillabaisse and the braised short ribs. No joke, my mouth dropped when I tasted both of these dishes. They were so delicious. Like mouth watering, almost cried with how amazing they were. The short rib melted off and it was paired with yummy grits. My husband said that the shrimp in his bouillabaisse tasted like lobster. The broth of the bouillabaisse was one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted. For dessert we split the chocolate crème brûlée and had a complimentary slice of cake that was decorated with a happy anniversary note. Both delicious! Amazing service and the most delicious food ever.
