Great food, amazing drinks - love LES and very cute outdoor space
Wonderful Meal. Wife and I dined at Essex on day after Thanksgiving so Essex was much less crowded than previous times. Service was attentive without being overbearing and manager remembered us from past visits. Food was consistently excellent especially the short rib and the octopus. Will definitely be back.
Le menu de thanksgiving était très bon, un bémol, nous avons commandé le dessert au début avec tous les plats et notre choix n’était plus disponible en fin de repas ! Dommage !
Not happy with service
Went for Thanksgiving. The appetizers were good. But for the mains they ran out of ingredients and started substituting replacements that were inedible. For the desert we received burned pecan pie. Just a small step above terrible.
Went for the Thanksgiving dinner.
It was very crowded and noisy.
The turkey was great, the revisited pumpkin cheesecake as well but the pumpkin soup wasn't at all.
The neighborhood is really not welcoming.
Thanksgiving dinner while in the city.
Our waitress was great - but the hostess was very snippy, and was also very rude to another guest while we stood there.
Quality of food and drinks was great.
Based on the interactions of the hostess, and how she treated multiple guests - I would not go back.
Absolutely delicious food. Limited but good wines by the glass. Top-notch, attentive, and friendly service. Very convenient to the subway as well.
Amazing thanksgiving meal
Great Thanksgiving menu. Everything was delicious. The vegan lasagna was the best I’ve had. The turkey and fixings were awesome. Wait staff was super attentive.
I already wrote a glowing review. My son and I loved the Thanksgiving feast, and I particularly loved the pumpkin soup. The textures of the pumpkin flesh and broth with the pine nuts was exquisite!
That soup should permwnantly be on the winter menu if it isn’t already
We went for brunch. Bottomless mimosas and The Aristocrat is what I ate. Pretty darn good. I recommend.
Can’t wait to go back! Def getting the gnocchi again. It was excellent! Best I’ve ever had
Went for my birthday. The server did great informing us that the kitchen was backed up and we ultimately didn’t end up waiting long for our food. She also made sure to stop by and make sure our drinks were filled. Food was just under seasoned. Ambiance was nice.
The service was awesome, they were very accommodating. Food was typical, drinks were good, a fun atmosphere overall
Food and service were exempted
We enjoyed our dinner and drinks. The service was excellent!
Super fun brunch spot with good food choices for the bottomless brunch and decent drinks
Overall the experience was great and Im thankful for our amazing server. She did everything to make sure we had a great experience. I was not too happy with our bill at the end. I originally booked a table of 6 but had two friends join at the last minute. Due to the two extra our brunch price went up by $10 per person and it was not for gratuity. I have never dined somewhere and was charged more because of the group size. I could totally understand it being an additional service charge for the waiter but we still had to add an additional 18 to 20 percent tip to the final bill even with the extra $10 per person being added to the bill. I honestly felt like the restaurant is taking advantage of people with this additional charge. We did not receive any extra service. Serval floor staff members who seemed to be there to help out did not even refill any of our drinks. They continuously walked pass us and we had to wait for our one server for any additional refills on drinks. One would think if we are being charged extra, additional staff would be around to accommodate the group. For this reason I do no recommend this establishment. No one should ever leave a place feeling punished for bringing in business.
We found this restaurant on Open Table and thought we would give it a go. We really liked the atmosphere but were even more impressed once our server greeted us (ugh, I wish we could remember her name!!). She was energetic and friendly and we enjoyed the opportunity to chat with her on her recommendations for our NY adventures. She was articulate about the menu items that we had questions about and we took her up on all of her suggestions. The food - oh my gosh, so so good! We got the Fall Vegetable Lasagna, which might be the best lasagna I've ever had AND the Gnocchi, which was rich with flavor in all the right ways. The appetizers too were delicious! I would highly recommend and have added it to my list for the next NY trip!
The $60 reservation cancellation fee is ridiculous!! No wonder it was only less than half full .The menu used to be larger and better. I miss the creamy French fare instead of ginger Asian spices. It’s was ok, not the great special occasion restaurant it used to be.
Took my boyfriend here for his first time. He enjoyed it which made me enjoyed it. Waiter was nice and attentive. Food was good and the atmosphere was nice. We will be back for another go around.
Went to Sunday brunch and sat outside. The food was delicious and we had a fabulous server. So much fun especially with Bottomless mimosas. (Which were not like other places where it’s all OJ with only a “splash” of sparkling wine.). Looking forward to going again!
We reserved table for 12 and they did an amazing job, good service, good food and perfect drinks! … and great value!
Steak and eggs were no bueno - everything was delicious though and service was great
We had people visiting from out of town and they had a great time at brunch!! Music and atmosphere was so fun and the food was good too. Excellent service!
Had a great experience sitting outdoor for a larger party dinner (11). Eunice reached out to us to sorth logistics, the waiters were very nice, food came out on time, food was delicious, and overall great service!
Food was mediocre but drinks were good. Recommend the screwdriver
Had a nice time but boy do they rush you outta the restaurant. It was pretty stressful.
Very good spot for brunch ! Food was excellent and service was good.
Great experience. Loved it and Hannah B our waitress was great.
Best bottomless brunch!!
Cool Monday night . Relaxed atmosphere, we had the calamari and hamachi crudo to start with . My wife had the salmon and I did have the short ribs as a main course up to perfection. We love Essex , it is our pleasant place (specially during the week) , since the weekend is crowded and hard to get tables. Thanks again Essex!
Fantastic Dinner! We really enjoyed our meal at Essex. The charred octopus was stellar, as was the salmon and the (gigantic) short rib. Great selection of value wines and attentive, but not overbearing, service. Would highly recommend.
Not good. Calamari & Shrimp wontons we’re average at best.
Steak was smothered in butter but edible.
My wife’s salmon was fishy & not edible so we returned it. To the waitresses credit they did take it off the bill. Didn’t offer anything else but not recommend at all.
Staff was friendly, however however we had trouble getting our server’s attention (possibly understaffed? Server had multiple large parties simultaneously). Menu is appealing; execution OK, not fantastic. Potato pancakes were tasty but served unappealingly on a few pieces of wilted lettuce.
Coffee was disappointing; reminded me of a suburban diner.
Great! Would highly recommend for brunch
