Ernesto’s is the acclaimed Basque-inspired restaurant from veteran chef Ryan Bartlow, who has worked at world-renowned restaurants, including Akelarre in Spain, Alinea in Chicago, and Frenchette in New York City. At Ernesto’s — which has been named one of The New York Times ‘best new restaurants’ of the year, among other accolades — Bartlow offers a menu inspired by his years spent cooking and living in the Basque region of Spain, mixing signature traditional dishes with seasonal riffs on classic flavors.

Ernesto's is open for dinner Monday from 5:30-9:30pm and Tuesday-Thursday from 5pm-9:30pm with the kitchen closing at 9:45pm, and Fri-Sat 5pm-10pm with the kitchen closing at 10:30pm. We accept reservations and walk-ins. We take reservations up to two weeks in advance with our books opening at midnight.

Everything was great. The only issues were that they didn’t turn on the A/C so it was really hot inside, and the food took a long time to arrive. Besides that it was great.

Dinner with friends in a neighborhood we don’t usually dine in, so that was fun in and of itself! The Spanish food was tasty and a nice change from our usual cuisines. The waiter was patient with our lack of Spanish skills and clearly explained the various dishes and paired a nice wine with the food we ordered. Overall, a great dining experience, my only complaint was the noise level, which was on the high side, although in fairness, we were able to hear each other at the table, w/o having to say, “what did you say?”

The food was good, not really excellent in my opinion. The Menu is small and they don’t seem amenable to modifying existing dishes. No complaints about the service. The price is ridiculously expensive for what you get

Wonderful cocktails, especially the melacoton, a Spanish version of a margarita. (I had a second.) Overall, the food was thoughtfully prepared and presented, but the tuna entree was slightly overcooked and therefore drier than we would have liked. The monkfish entree was exceptional and was served on a bed of thinly sliced potato. We had flan for dessert, appropriately firm and velvety. Our server was well informed, friendly and find-able.

Food, wine and service were outstanding. It was a touch loud (they could benefit from some soundproofing) but everything was otherwise excellent.
