A Night at Encore: Worth the Noise (and the Wheelbarrow)
Took my wife to Encore — first time for both of us. Quick summary? Drinks and food were top-notch. Ambiance? Picture dining in a high-end fishbowl — all glass and all noise. My Apple Watch actually warned me I might suffer temporary hearing loss from the decibel level. (Thanks, Apple. I came for dinner, not a health advisory.)
Still, we’ll definitely go back — the food, drinks, and service more than made up for the acoustics.
The night kicked off with a Gin Elderflower Basil Smash. I had no idea what I was getting into, but I’m glad I did. It was refreshing, unique, and tasted like summer in a glass.
Then came the bread with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic. Warm, fresh, dangerously addictive. I wanted more. It was offered, but I declined. (Personal growth moment for me.)
Up next: the Italian wedge salad. Forget your average wedge — this one had layers. Layers of flavor, a perfectly balanced dressing, and crunch in all the right places. Check the pictures on their website — it’s as good as it looks.
For the main course, I went all in: Shrimp and Lobster Fra Diavolo. Spicy, rich sauce poured over blonde and black pasta, generously loaded with seafood. I scraped the plate clean. If they’d brought me more bread, I would’ve mopped that bowl so well they could’ve reused it — no rinse needed.
Paired it with a glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, and it was a match made in Italian heaven.
Dessert?
Lemon Tart Brûlée and Coffee. Bright, citrusy, and just the right amount of sweet to wrap up the meal. The tartness reset my tastebuds, which, at that point, were ready to file a workers’ comp claim.
Our server, Samantha, was excellent — attentive, friendly, and nailed the VIP treatment I jokingly requested. In fact, by the end, I needed a wheelbarrow just to get out of there. She didn’t hesitate — she plopped me in, gave me a push, and off I went, full of joy and pasta.
We’ll be back!
