Excellent food and service. Will come back! Lots of vegetarian options.
Loved the food; very inventive...our main complaint was that the "small plates" were really not small...they were enough to share or make a meal of. Also, they need less expensive scotch to make Rob Roy's with..it cost $16! My martini, in comparison, was only $8.
Lovely view, friendly great waitress, pricey salad for amount, food ok-not great, good place to sit and talk
Restaurant is in the American Visual Arts Museum. Makes for a perfect day—have a great lunch and walk around the museum. Child’s grilled cheese sandwich was great.
A unique dining option. Good seafood and vegan options that tasted delicious. We can recommend great crispy brussels, chickpeas (really tasty), wonderful shrimp and grits, and amazing use of cauliflower (cauliflower steak) that I devoured. They have beef dishes, but we did not eat those, so I cannot comment. Wait staff and server were friendly and helpful. We will return.
Overall it was a great experience we had a very peppy waitress who facilitated with great and fast service. The food was great as well. The steak was huge!
I had lunch at Encantada because I was visiting AVAM, and I'm a big fan of museum restaurants. Encantada did not disappoint. The BLT Benedict was really good, but just a bit over-executed. I'm as much of a bacon fan as anyone, but I really don't need a full pound of bacon on my Benedict! LOL But I imagine most people would not see that as a negative. Loved the cocktail. Loved the ambiance of the room. It was very uncrowded while I was there, but I imagine it could get noisy when it's full. Service was good ... it's hard being a single diner, since lots of waiters don't like having a one-top. But my waiter was appropriately attentive, even if he was a tad confused about some menu items. Still ... I'd eat here with or without a museum visit (although I implore you to visit the museum ... it is absolutely worth your time).
We found the menu to be very limited, not a problem if the food choices are well balanced. But selling a "toast" for $16 that consists of two large pieces of bread covered with topping is not a well balanced lunch; far too much bread, no greens. Also, the coffee wasn't very good. The restaurant is in a great location, but what's on the plate doesn't live up to the setting.
Overall, this is a perfect restaurant for someone who wants a great meal at a great price. Everything was made to order and each bite was full of flavor. We had the Korean pancakes, the turnips the Cauliflower steak and chicken. Oh, and the chickpeas. Everything was great. We did need some extra sauce for the cauliflower.
Great for foodies with dietary restrictions like no gluten, no dairy but also amazing for people who don’t have any restrictions.
This is a restaurant you have to try. It’s small so make sure to make a reservation.
Food very good.
Atmosphere fun - eclectic
Service not very attentive
Juice machine broke (several juices /smoothies on menu)
None to be had
Outstanding vegan/veg food. Had cauliflower, carrots, beets and corn. Each dish better than the next. If you’re looking for beautiful, super tasty vegan/veg food this is a must-visit place.
Brought my boss from out of town, City type, she loved it
This was my second visit to Ecantada, I am a member of the American Visionary Museum and it is so great to tour the museum and then to have an exquisite dinner to finish the evening. I love the fresh, healthy , creative cuisine. The 5 Spice Duck was a sensual experience.
Will be returning again in the near future for sure. I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.
Thank you Ecantada
Went there because we were headed downtown to p/u my Senior Lifetime National Parks pass, on my 62nd b'day. Since I don't eat meat, it's nice to find restaurants that show all the ingredients, no hidden bacon.....So having not been there, we had a really good lunch.
Excellent food! The restaurant is on the top floor of the American Visionary Arts Museum. We were seated by a window looking out on the elegant staircase with a view of artwork on display. A wedding took place while we were dining. The ceremony was right on the steps of the staircase. Pretty unique experience. They were very few people in the restaurant, so I'm hoping it was just a slow night.
Awesome place sit outside
It was a restaurant week and we mainly went for the restaurant week specials. Unfortunately, they didn’t have restaurant week special and they failed to update it on there website :( We ended up saying regular prices for everything.
On a Friday night we were a little disappointed that the outside deck was not open, however, we had a pleasant meal indoors with very prompt and polite service. Only disappointment was the "heirloom tomato" starter on a large plate which included two very small pieces of tomato and enough greens to feed a family of four. Thankfully, my wife's entree had six or seven slices of tomato that she was willing to share with me. Otherwise, the fish and chicken entrees were very good as was the banana split dessert we shared. Metered parking on the street behind AVAM made it an easy exercise at the end of a week. Noise was moderate. Crowd was mostly younger, hipper than we normally encounter.
Atmosphere was beautiful but service was very slow. The buffalo cauliflower was delicious but my eggplant entree lacked any flavor.
When I booked online on Sat for a Sunday brunch I was given a message that a party of 6 could not be booked online. I tried calling and calling only to get pushed to voice mail over and over. So we just booked for a party of 4 not inviting two others we wanted to join us. When we arrived at 12:30 pm on Sunday they clearly (empty tables, even outside) had room for a party of 6 so that was very disappointing to see. How does a place of business not answer their phone all of Sat. night and Sunday morning and have their voice mail full? Service was average, they were very slow, we waited at least 45 mins for our food after it was ordered. This was my second time here, first was for dinner. The food both times has been very good, they just lack staff and good service. I honestly see the wait staff working very hard, they need more people. That is a management issue.
We will not go back, which is unfortunate because it is a really cool place.
We had a fantastic meal and delicious drinks on the patio, which was spacious and shady. My children, two and four, were enthralled by the 'whirlygig' sculptures and enjoyed having some space to explore without fear of breaking/destroying anything. The museum is really well-curated, with an eclectic mix of exhibits, and an excellent museum shop.
Brought my daughter to Encantada for a special Sunday lunch. She is a Chef in LA and is always looking for something unique and different where the food resignates with the decor. We enjoyed the cuisine, service and atmosphere. A must try!
The place for vegans and vegetarians. Most restaurants have lots of meat dishes and a few veg options. Here it's reversed. The meat eaters will still be happy though. Still plenty for you.
Also, great wine selection. Service was excellent.
Food absolutely amazing. Needs a renovation on fabrics and seat cushions. Every seat cushion and window seat bench cushion was filthy. Shocking considering how good the food is. So maybe ch so that I didn’t want to touch it.
The staff was friendly and the restaurant pretty but the food was truly terrible.
I work a fine dining restaurant as a line cook. My wife and I thought that the food at Encantada was outstanding. We split the Nashville cauliflower, gnocchi and culotte steak, along with a bottle of wine. All were seasoned well. Portion sizes were good - left satisfied (not stuffed or hungry).
Only complaint would be that we wanted to be outside on the patio to take advantage of the nice weather (although a thunderstorm rolled through earlier in the day and understand why the patio was not open).
This might be our new neighborhood place for a quick bite.
Unfortunately the patio wasn’t open. Menu was the same as our last visit in September.
Good experience . Nice pacing of meal
A couple of the dishes were tasty (grilled artichokes, brussel sprouts), but a few mains (the gnocchi) were not very good and roast potatoes with several of the mains were under-cooked. We had a good meal here a year ago, but they were certainly off their mark this time and we will not be returning.
Too loud for us!
One of our party couldn't hear at all due to the noise. Great choices for vegans, but brunch choices limited otherwise. Took forever to get decaf coffee. I think she forgot. The veggie omelet was fair but nothing exciting. Just came with some greens, no toast or potatoes. Not a good value for the price, in my opinion.
Bad service, mediocre food, but cool museum and ambiance. Expensive.
Great vegan options. Really tasty even for omnivores. Very friendly and accommodating servers. Nice atmosphere. Easily walkable from the inner harbor but not at all touristy.
We've enjoyed this restaurant space through its several incarnations, including long ago when it had a cool view of the harbor . Alas, that view is now blocked by expensive condos. Sunday was the first time we ate on the terrace. We were delighted with a bird's-eye view of the whirligig and Federal Hill. It was a sunny, breezy day, and a lovely experience.
Very good food, but the place lacks any real ambience, partly because the tables are so far apart. For a Friday night it should have been busier.
I made advance reservations at Encantada for brunch with three friends on a day when we toured the American Visionary Art Museum. We were seated on time and enjoyed a leisurely meal with excellent service. Our server did not write down our orders, which included some special requests, and everything was as requested. Bottomless mimosas were refilled without hesitation. We spent almost 2 hours in the restaurant enjoying our food and conversation. As the crowd thinned out, the noise level subsided. Everyone in the party enjoyed the meal, especially the Brussels sprouts--the best! I would recommend and would return.
First time at the museum and restaurant. Can't believe I never knew about this place. Loved the Baramundi dish. Best I ever had. Loved the museum and also having the restau rant right there.
The food was delicious. The ambiance of the place is just wonderful and the art work is amazing.
I brought my friend here for her birthday dinner during vegan restaurant week. We were amazed by how flavorful and beautiful the food and cocktails were. The ambiance is lovely and our waitress was a delight. Thanks for such a special night, we will definitely be back!
Went here with my wife for her birthday and had a phenomenal time, in addition to outstanding food & excellent service. A great little hidden gem that is definitely worth giving a try!
Was looking for a restaurant that offered many vegetarian choices and Encantada did not disappoint. The roasted chickpeas, grilled Brussels sprouts and the cauliflower were delicious. And the guests enjoyed their entrees as well. If I had one suggestion it would be to suggest sharing more. We had three orders of chickpeas and two would have been plenty.
