Food was incredible
The service and the food was fabulous. I had the yak ribeye and thought it was very good.
Fabulous dining experience. Best steak I have ever had. Excellent wait staff, extremely courteous and attentive. Definitely will be going back on special occasions.
My family enjoyed a meal here to kick off our Crested Butte vacation. I can’t think of a more perfect beginning. The food was deliciously prepared with attention to detail.
Phenomenal restaurant if you love meat, especially steaks. 3/4 in our party had the special, a bone-in Fillet. I had the flat-iron steak, which came with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. We ordered a couple sides (crab mac n cheese and mushroom risotto). For dessert, we shared the chocolate layer cake and a scoop of vanilla bean homemade ice cream. We had plenty leftovers for a full meal the following day! YUM!
Amazing steak. Price is consist with an upscale steak house at $40-60 per entre.
Went there with wife and two young boys (9 and 6). Food was very good and ambiance was just what we wanted for a nice evening in a ski resort town. It was a little pricey but for the specialties and types of steak, it is pretty understandable. Kids had a nice time and we never felt that they (staff) wished we hadn't brought them. Speaking of staff, our waiter was amazing and his support staff were extremely attentive.
If you get the chance to go and want a wonderful night out after skiing with amazing food....head to Elk Avenue Prime. We will definitely be back!
The food here is always great, definitely try the filet. This place also has an excellent beer wine and spirits list to please any pallet.
The food is expensive but well worth it. Amazing food, amazing cocktails, amazing service. Overall 10/10 experience.
Nestled on the main drag in Colorado’s last great ski town, Elk is a Brooklyn steakhouse bathed in western casual ambiance. The steaks were prime, perfectly prepared and seasoned, complimented by a Wine Spectator list rivaling none. Not inexpensive, but worth the cost for a great meal.
Death Row Delicious
If I had a last meal request it would be from EAP.
Came here two years ago and was on the “to do” list for our Spring Break 2018 trip. Was just as good the second time around. Started and ended with the same Brown Bear cocktail. Wine was Duckhorn Cabernet. I had the elk tenderloin both times and it may be the best meat I’ve ever had. My wife had a special feature Miyazaki Wagyu beef our server advertised as bucket list worthy. It was no exaggeration. Another guest got the Colorado trout - okay but not a repeat item. Quality is my hot button. Don’t come here looking for a cheap meal but if you are looking for the best meal money can buy, Elk Avenue Prime is at the top of the list.
The food and service was excellent but It was dry expensie.
Service & food in this restaurant was spot on. Would highly recommend. The wine list has a lot of great options, high & low.
We were delighted with our professional server, Bob! Sometimes, the meal may be outstanding, yet the server and or service is not so memorable. It was our first time to meet Bob-and Sharney, also, who was a joy. The hostess was very personable. We will return! Bravo!
Emily had one of the best filets of her life. Joe likes your au poivre flank steak and seemed satisfied. Beth seemed to enjoy her trout and, I , my salmon. Though my wife and I shied away from the more expensive steaks our bill still approached $200 making this too pricey except for special occasions.
Excellent steaks, cooked exactly the way you order. Service and atmosphere both good. This was the best restaurant we dined in while in Crested Butte.
We had a wonderful time, food was outstanding and service was friendly and professional.
Delicious food and great service
Excellent dinner! Always consistent and high quality, from the old fashions to the filet chef/owner runs a terrific restaurant and it carries throughout. Always a treat when I’m in town with friends or entertaining guests. Crested Butte gem.
Three years straight we’ve chosen Elk Prime for “go-to” night out. Hasn’t disappointed yet! Great food and awesome wine selection. Recommend to anyone!
Fabulous as usual! I love the fact that my favorite cocktail is brought to my table without even ordering it from the awesome bartender, Cole. We had Brian as our server on Valentine’s Day and he was the best. Attentive but not intrusive, cautious and aware of my food allergy, and really nice. The steak and lobster were prepared perfectly. Always love a night at Elk Prime. We love Curtis and Julie and think this place is the best in CB!
This was our second trip to Prime on Elk. We love steak and the steaks are great. All of the food on both of our trips was terrific. The one downside this year was the service. It is amazing what a good attentive server can do to add to a special night out. This year Prime on Elk fell way short.
Had lobster & steaks, and all were terrific. Fun atmosphere, little noisy, however great staff and food more than compensates. Will visit again next year, as we are from Texas. We had 2 meals there, in a 6 day visit.
Great job to all!!
Their food is amazing along with their service. I have eaten here many times and it never disappoints. They have some of the best cuts of steaks in the country along with an extensive wine list. I would highly recommend!
Been to many steakhouses in many cities. Beef here is as good or better than any of them.
Great Steaks and sides. Wine list was nice although vey pricey. It is expensive, but that is to be expected for an area like Crested Butte that has to ship in a lot of their products. They had NW oysters, Japanese and domestic steaks, so the need for overhead is well understood. Just don’t ball at the prices, this isn’t Outback.
The steaks were amazing. Cooked to perfection, seasoned just right. No need for wine reductions or other propaganda B.S., just letting great meat from great ranchers do the talking. My sone had the Colorado lamb chops with a glaze and it was phenomenal. I highly recommend it, but expect to pay for a fine meal in an amazing location.
The tables are tight, and I seated against a timber log post. Need to give the patrons larger tables to fit water, wine, bread, entrees and sides and still allow them to get up and go to the rest room without hiring their neighbor.
Best steak I have had in Colorado though.
This was our 2nd visit in 2 years.
The steaks are to die for the 18oz AKAUSHI RIB-EYE was amazing.
Def get the Aged White Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Smoked Potatoes, Asparagus and the Jumbo Lump Crab-cakes!
Side portions are on the larger side and they make great leftovers for a kicka$ breakfast!
Oh and don't for get the Bread-pudding for dessert.
The food here is fabulous and consistent. We started with the Brussels Sprouts, which are great. We split the wedge salad, it’s huge with great blue cheese dressing. The Elk Tenderloin with the ravioli was heaven and the 10 oz filet was perfect. The wine list is extensive, with a wide range of price points. Highly recommend when your in the Butte .
Great dining experience. The 32 oz tomahawk steak was underwhelming.
Excellent meal and service. We split the buffalo ribeye with peppercorn sauce smoked potatoes, wedge salad, asparagus, and the fried brusselsprout , appetizer. It was fabulous and I RARELY am willing to fill out any survey!
Our overall experience was fantastic. My husband and I came here for our “nice vacation dinner” and couldn’t be happier. The Star of the meal was the Colorado lamb chops. This was the best lamb my husband and I have had, and we have had a lot of lamb. I would definitely recommend coming here for a nice dinner!
Food was good, restaurant was super loud, extremely loud. It’s an open concept restaurant and the lights are bright so their isn’t really ambiance but the food is good and prompt and waiters are attentive.
Definitely a 5 Star Restaurant!! The food is amazingly wonderful. And the service is top notch. You can't visit Crested Butte without eating at this restaurant.
I was just in CB for two days and had the chance to pop in. I found them on yelp. My dinner was AMAZING. I had the trout special which was incredible with risotto. I'm from Seattle and very critical about seafood. This experience did not disappoint. I had the fried green tomatoes to start. Great. I opted to get the corn side dish which was some rich magic with bacon and truffle I believe. Amazing. I portioned controlled so I could also add some dessert. I had the cherry crisp. It was amazing but my only critique is the dessert was not served piping hot which I would have preferred. I could have sent it back for sure but I was so stuffed I was getting miserable. The server was very friendly and attentive. Wine list was good on a cool ipad tablet.
My only real critique overall is the ambiance. There were screaming kids in the restaurant and I guess it's the trend now to take children to restaurants where the entres are 40-60/dollars. I can appreciate the CB vibe. The restaurant really is just a big open room with lots of noise. I LOATHE eating at a fairly high end restaurant with TVs on and sports on. The bar is in the restaurant eating area which adds to the noise. It's a CO thing. Good community feel but noisy. Worth the cost but to me definitely a splurge - not an everyday restaurant.
I'm generally not a fan of fancy steakhouses but had promised my son a nice steak dinner. I was very happy with Elk Ave Prime nonetheless. While sporting seriously high prices, the food and wine were excellent, as was the service and the ambiance.
We always eat at least once if not twice at Elk Avenue Prime while we are visiting Crested Butte. The food tastes great and the variety is wonderful!! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! Julie & Curtis you have a great restaurant that is our favorite place to eat !! Hope to see you soon!! Thank you, Ty Smith
Elk Prime is a very good steakhouse. Prices are high but quality is good. Huge wine list is difficult to navigate on the provided ipad but persevere - there are good bottles below $50! The elk was a standout! Service was very professional. Would return .
Excellent food and service . We eat here every time we come to crested Butte
Our server, Bob, was extremely friendly and attentive. Everything came in a very timely fashion and he got us everything we needed without having to ask a second time. Their house whiskey sour was amazing and they had such a great menu it was hard to narrow down what we wanted. He even put a candle in my boyfriend’s dessert for his birthday! The ambiance was the perfect little Crested Butte cabin with a modern swankiness. Can’t wait to come back.
