About
We dined at Eli’s twice year ago and were blown away by the quality food at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same today. We ordered the soft shelled crab special at $42. Unfortunately the batter was so thick it totally overpowered the sweetness of the crab. It was almost inedible. We will not be going back.
Having been to Eli’s Table before, we expected great things, and we weren’t disappointed. From the service to the food, everything was spot on. Their Shrimp and Grits is outstanding! A signature appetizer, Fried Green Tomatoes Napoleon, is simple the superb.
Uninspired and overpriced. Took out-of-town visitors for a recent lunch and was extremely disappointed. Not a good ambassador for Charleston’s restaurant scene! “Black Forest Ham and Brie Croissant” ($13) was deli ham, cardboard-consistency fried green tomatoes; with “aoli” consisting of mayo mixed with dry oregano; all on a huge croissant heated to the texture of a dry brick, Lunch for 3, no alcohol, was $70. Never again!
Outstanding service! Delicious food!
Eli’s Table was amazing! Our meal was incredible and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend for any occasion. We will be back!
The best steamed mussels I’ve ever had, anywhere. Five Stars across the board, you won’t be disappointed.
Asked for inside table and got outside table
Food was cold a few minutes after served
Shrimp and grits are award winning for good reason! Small but busy—a great find!
Food was amazing! Will definitely come back! The duck and waffles is a must try as well as the fried green tomato appetizer
Great food and service
The food was great, but service was definitely lacking. We sat there for a good 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Our table was in the middle of the walkway so every time a server or patron walked by, we were whacked or clipped. We had to finally ask a food runner for drink refills. They would have 2-3 people working on setting up tables for forever (I’ve never seen it take so long to set a table) and yet patrons at the tables were having to flag down servers for their food and drink. Of the 10 tables in our room, 4 were open. I know it was an event weekend, but this is Charleston, we are an event destination and should be able to plan for these things. Like I said, food was great, but I will have to think about coming back.
Well executed dinner at the peak of a busy Saturday night. Great, inventive use of ingredients.
This actually was the best meal we had in Charleston in a 3 day SEWE stay
They seat us immediately
Put us at table at windows
But is was 2 feet away fro waiters station
Food was actually very good
Johnny was a great waiter. The whole team was extremely friendly and the food was great. A nice surprise from a random Open Table selection. Great alternative to our usual go to places of Hall’s, High Cotton, Langdon’s, Coda del Pesce, Opal...
Friendly service, good atmosphere, great southern food. Kids friendly. We loved all the food but in particular the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp & grits.
Great experience! Wonderful manager and server team! My family really enjoyed our meal there!
Prefer this restaurant for lunch. I thought the dinner prices were a little high for the ambiance
My husband and I enjoyed Valentine's Day dinner at Eli's Table. I was given a gorgeous long stemmed red rose upon arrival which I thought was a lovely unexpected touch. Our meal was delicious, service was excellent, and ambiance was perfect for such a romantic occasion. Only negative was that we were seated close to another table of four when there were other tables available that would have provided a more intimate setting for us. That said, I am sure that if I had asked to be moved to a different table, they would have obliged. We didn't ask. It was a lovely evening.
As a large party of 10 on Valentines night, I know to anticipate some glitches, however, our server was a complete amateur. I am not sure if this was his first night serving or if he was completely clueless. His ineptitude spoiled what could have been a decent meal. Food was served cold, dishes not cleared, we had to ask for drinks and to see the dessert menu. We also felt rushed. I understand the need to turn tables, hence, the business side of the restaurant business, however, in my opinion, what defines a good experience from a bad one and potential repeat business is service.
Great experience! Service was exceptional, went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. Food was wonderful as well. I highly recommend, you won’t be sorry!
Food was great, service outstanding. Enjoyed everything.
Had a late breakfast planned. When we arrived we were the only customers there so we were well taken care of. The breakfast was amazing, Poached eggs over crab cakes.
Excellent food. First visit for us. Service was impeccable. Charles Cook did a marvelous job catering to our every need. Will come again.
We were brought an entree that was not what we had ordered and while it was delicious, it would have been nice to have been charged the price of the item that we had wanted rather than what we were brought.
Great experience. Great food and good service. Ribeye and beet salad were standouts. Live music on Saturday night was very nice, but not too overwhelmingly loud.
Birthday for my daughter.
We enjoyed everything about our meal at Eli’s Table. Server was attentive and knowledgeable and all the food was great. We had the cheese fondue app, duck & waffles, burger, beet salad, red rice orzo, mac & cheese, and vegetables and enjoyed every bit of it.
We went to Eli table for my husbands’s birthday. They treated us very well and we really enjoyed our dining experience.
We were in town for the day, and Eli’s was a must. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and I would honestly recommend them for every meal while you’re in town. Our reservations were for an hour in the future (as they were already booked for the time that we wanted to go), but we had a plane to catch, and they sat us even sooner to ensure that we made our flight. They also offered us a complimentary champagne toast. I mean, talk about Southern hospitality at its finest. Amazing food, too. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. Out of the three times I’ve been to Charleston, I’ve eaten at Eli’s Table about eight times. You can never have too much of a good thing!
Absolutely amazing experience - from the service to each delectable plate we tried! Highly recommend.
Thanks for taking us late- night. Food was good, service was exceptional!!
The food was pretty good for the most part. My 6 year old daughter likes steak so that's what she ordered, however she ordered it pink in the middle (medium well), but arrived medium (too bloody). We sent it back and the next one came out well well, (gray and dry in the middle). I believe she only ate about a quarter of it. I ordered the scallops, and they were delicious, and perfectly cooked, had a great sear and non rubbery. The escargot was excellent too, for those adventurers, the sauce was nicely sweet with good hints of herbs. My wife had the swordfish, in my opinion it looked a little dry, but my wife enjoyed it. It was not the best cut though since about 80% of the filet was grayish. I know of swordfish filets being dark gray in the middle towards the backbone, but this one almost looked unappetizing. The manager came over and explained the color tone, but I don't think he was right...anyways. The drinks we ordered were advertised as "fresh squeezed". So we went fresh and ordered mimosas and screwdrivers. The juice was not fresh squeezed, so when I brought it up to the waiter, he said it was fresh squeezed by another company and it arrives in gallons. So...again, trying to justify errors is always a bummer for me. In my experience I probably would not return any time soon, but not committed to completely remove it from my places to eat list.
Delight Jazz music Friday night.
Eli's table is a fantastic hidden gem of downtown Charleston. Easily one of the best in terms of both food and service!
Our breakfast was delicious! Great service great price.
Our server was not attentive and her overall demeanor was for lack of a better term- “blah”.
For the prices of their entrees, we expected an amazing dinner, but instead received entrees that were average at best. I will say the Fig Crustini appetizer was quite tasty and the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant.
Sam was very helpful and knowledgeable with our food selection.
This is a must stop for us every time we come to Charleston. We are in town on Sunday & Monday nights so it is never busy, the atmosphere is quite and staff very attentive. The Fried Green Napoleon is one of the best dishes I’ve had at ANY restaurant, ANYWHERE. I’m a big fan of the sweet potato waffles with maple bacon glaze that will either have chicken or duck on top. They have an appetizing menu for breakfast (served till 3).
From the moment I walked in, I could tell it was going to be a nice dinner. I had a great Manhattan while I waited for my family to arrive. The shrimp and grits, snapper, and scallops were all tremendous. And don’t forget the fried green tomatoes? Definitely a place to go back to.
Went with family including 3 kids, server was great, food was good. Would definitely return.
