Eli’s Table Ratings and Reviews
We absolutely loved our time here. We did not have a reservation but by chance got seated quickly on a Sunday night! We were given a toast of a sparkling wine to celebrate our night out! It was very tasty! I was also given a complementary rose along with an appetizer to share with the table. We also ordered a couple of additional appetizers...the fried green tomatoes and the Fondue! Both were amazing! I ordered the Crab cakes and they were outstanding! Others got the Duck and Waffles, The Fillet, and The Shrimp and Grits. All were delicious. Our service and total experience was charming and personal! Will definately be back! Great job to all!!
My husband and I just ate here for the first time and had a great experience. We loved our food and had great service. I’m giving a 4 for ambiance because we were seated by the front door and a large group came towards the end of our meal and filled the entrance as they waited to be seated, which took a little away from the mood. There are many amazing restaurants in Charleston, so there is a high caliber of competition, hence the 4’s in my review. All in all the food was superb and the service was better than most. We will definitely go back!
We made reservations, got there early told the host staff we were here, they said we will be with you in a few minutes. After 40 mins, reminding them twice we were still here
they then checked and someone checked we were already seated in the system. WRONG! Waited 15 mins for a server, then 40 mins for our food. After all that my husband ordered a BOWL of soup, he was given a cup with 1/4 missing in the cup and it wasn’t hot. It may have been busy but for these prices and previous ratings we were terribly disappointed. Should we return to the area we will NOT return.
All in all we had a great meal; the food was very good and our waiter was excellent. I gave 4 stars because getting seated was pretty inconvenient even with a reservation. The front of house seemed disorganized. We made reservations for 6 on OpenTable, yet had to wait 15 min to be seated. It was 35 degrees outside so I specifically asked for standard indoor seating when making the reservation, however, there were no 6 tops available when we arrived. After 15 min of waiting I asked the front manager what was going on and she said she could only seat us outside; though tented and heated it wasn’t really ideal for the weather. We pushed 3 tables together and made it work because a group of 6 would have a hard time finding another lunch reservation. I just think if they can’t accommodate large parties then say so online and don’t allow the reservation. It worked out, but larger parties should probably call ahead.
Visiting in the area and glad we found Eli ! A plus that they serve breakfast till 3. Had the beignets to share , the yogurt and berries to share and the avocado egg croissant ... all was very yummy ! The service was great, too. They were super busy so we were glad we made a reservation ! If we were local , we would be back
This was our first visit. We arrived at five p.m. The restaurant was empty. The woman who seated us wanted to put us at a table across from the open kitchen (very noisy with pots banging, etc.) We asked for another table and she moved us back one. We asked to sit on the other side of the restaurant, she said it wasn't ready. She was extremely rude.
The food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for the rudeness we experienced. We probably won't return.
Amazing food! There was 4 of us dining for lunch and we all were raving over the food. Only con was the two hostess arguing with each other over who they were going to seat first. We ended up seating ourselves cause both got mad at each other and walked away leaving us wondering what was going on. Other than that, it was awesome!
Be forewarned, the sweet potato pancakes are huge! On the heavy side especially with the sweet and nutty topping, so you can easily share even the half order. Red risotto w sausage and egg was good if you want something different and a little spicy. Bacon was excellent and a little crispy how I like it.
The place isn't crowded, maybe 6 tables, 20 people. It's nice and clean. But that's all about the positive of Eli's Table.
Service is very very slow, it lasted more than 80 minutes between appetizer and main dishes. In between nobody cleaned the appetizer plates, or even came to our table. We ordered a tea, which never showed up during the whole time.
We asked for some bread for our toddler daughter, they seemed to have completely forgotten. When we asked again, the response was bread is being baked at the moment. We have to ask the manager for the 3rd time to get the bread. Unfortunately, the bread was neither warm nor anything like that. All the dishes came luke warm, not hot.
"Duck & waffels" was ok, although the waffles was certainly overcooked, very very dry. The "catch of the day" was a complete disaster, it was extremely salty. It feels like someone strayed half box salt on the fish (the risotto was also salty, but tolerable). Our neighboring table seemed to have the very same problem with this fish dish, and their steak as well. We have heard them complaining about how salty all the dishes were. Eventually, they ended up leaving without eating anything! We had to finish eating our dishes, because it was difficult to find another place to eat this late in the evening. We eventually tipped generously, because it’s the holiday season, we would like to share the holiday spirit.
In a nutshell, we think this place is completely overrated, not worth the money. Food was not great, some of them are plain simple horrible. Service was very poor. Although they were friendly, but not efficient or professional.
BTW, don't be fooled by the owner's response. This is automatically generated by computer programs, not by any human being. It seems a bad rating will trigger the computer program generating a response email, with identical wording.
I booked my reservation for Christmas dinner a month prior. Unfortunately so did many others, overwhelming the small entry way resulting in me standing over a couple enjoying their meal. After 10 minutes of being rudely ignored by the hostesses and staff, I finally was able to check in. We were sat 15 minutes after our reservation outside in 47 degree weather with minimal protection from the cold. We asked to move, which they obliged to another outdoor table and then quickly sat another party in our spot. The food was amazing, our waiter did what was in his power to make us comfortable by replacing the propane tank in the heater but it was a very disappointing experience that left a horrible taste in our mouths. We received no compensation, apology or acknowledgement that we were spending over $200 for our dinner in a very uncomfortable environment that should never have been used in winter. Management and/or ownership was greedy for money only, not preserving the customer experience at all. We will never return and can only share this horrific experience with others recommending they also not waste their time or money.
We were seated for our 4:30 reservation at 5:30. They definitely overbooked. Also, short on staff. Many waited standing hovering over patrons tables. Very uncomfortable. Meals were served cold. Server was fantastic, but overwhelmed by no help, and overbooking.
We were treated horrible by the hostess as soon as we walked in. The restaurant was overbooked and understaffed. It took 20 minutes to get are drinks and after we got our food our plates sat done for 45 minutes after we finished. Several people walked by but did not bother to take the plates or ask if we wanted anything else. Took 35 minutes to get our check. Very disappointing and we won't be back. It was our special Christmas dinner and it was ruined
our reservation was at 4:15, we arrived at 4:09, seated at 4:35, it was 20 mins before we could get a glass of water. we had 1 app, a salad ( the lettuce was charred edges were ash, some of the lettuce had freeze burn, it was hands down, the worst salad i had ever tasted, i did not eat it after the first few bites, however was charged.) entree arrived at 6:15, asked for the bill at 6:30, got it at 6:40, returned to have it signed at 6:54. was charged full price, never an apology for the food or lateness. ruined our evening plans. This restaurant is the example of a high priced mediocre tourist trap, would never recommend to anyone.
My wife and I were visiting Charleston from Birmingham AL for the first time during Christmas vacation and had reservations on Christmas Day. Eli’s table was recommended by one of the managers at our hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner that afternoon. I believe it was booked solid that day. Steak and prime rib was excellent! Hope to return to Charleston soon. Thank you
I made a reservation for Christmas Brunch . I had called the restaurant and they said that Brunch would be served not a formal meal. When we arrived they seemed totally overwhelmed with seating people. They had overbooked. We left immediately after learning that someone had given me the incorrect information.
Great service- particularly appreciated as I was 10 minutes late to a 10pm reservation. Enjoyed my special martini and dinner was delicious. I haven't felt well for three days and I ate the whole meal. Met the chef- a delight. The owner is quite funny, and clearly focuses on excellent customer service. Only complaint- they were out of Red Breast Irish Whiskey on the bar. Left with Jameson (phew, phew), so I had a fun martini.
Nice place to be on Christmas eve--- full of nice staff!
