Went early as we had 1 year old with us. Very accommodating. Waiter was fantastic,as was everything we ordered. Fig,prosciutto & goat cheese delish, roasted beet salad was so FRESH and rib eye steak was excellent. Definitely would return
Because this restaurant had been recommended by a friend, my husband and I had made reservations for our first evening in Charleston. We were excited about the upcoming meal. Once we arrived at the restaurant, we asked a few questions about the menu and ordered our before-dinner cocktails. We were planning on ordering our food once the drinks arrived. We waited and waited and waited. The drinks did not arrive for 30 minutes. To make matters worse, we then finished the cocktails before the server ever returned to take our food order. By this time, we had been in the restaurant 45 minutes. We were very frustrated by this time and asked for the check. We did not eat. The cocktails were great (best mojito I have ever had), but the treatment and lack of attention were completely unacceptable. We noticed one patron walk in and sit at the bar; he was immediately served a drink, bread, and something in a bowl. Not us. Our server had too many tables and seemed completely unconcerned by the fact. This restaurant needs to train their servers and to have a manager on site.
We had dinner here while on spring break with our kids. Food was great. Not sure it was the best place for a 4 and 2 year old but they went above and beyond to accommodate us and even made waffles for the boys. Great small atmosphere. Would recommend!
Aside from the hostess complaining for 5 solid minutes about how Open Table complicates her life, it was a great dining experience.
This place is overrated. We arrive a little early for reservation. Although many tables were open the unfriendly hostess sat us at a table right next to kitchen and busing area. After looking at menu and seeing what we would pay for dinner I requested better table. Was rudely accommodated. Terrible service thereafter. Food was delicious but hard to enjoy after the bad start. Don’t recommend.
All like food but shrimp and grits were bland
Our server,Jake ,was polished, professional and very attentive. Our dinner was presented beautifully and tasted scrumptious!
My daughter and I were in Charleston for an Admitted Students event at C of C. Eli's was a great start to our visit. Great food and service. Thanks Jason for being our waiter!
Fresh food and great service!
The food was delicious. Parker was a personable and attentive waiter. We would definitely dine there again.
We had breakfast there on a Tuesday morning. We got a great table in the window. The food was phenomenal. Everyone tried something different including the mushroom omelette, the salmon omelette, fried oysters Benedict, crab cakes and the shrimp and grits Benedict which had some of the best shrimp I’ve ever eaten. Everyone raved about their dish. All delicious and a great place to go!
We had a wonderful early dinner after a Chamber Music Concert. A perfect ending. We can always count on Eli’s Table to serve the perfect meal. I think we all ate ever bite on our plates!!
Excellent service, nice wine selection. I ordered the scallops- entree was small, temperature was too cool, flavor was good
we were there twice last year when we attended the Food and Wine event and twice this year...we have enjoyed drinks and dinner there with both of our sons and their wives!! Service is great; Shrimp and Grits are the best; wine and martinis are wonderful;great atmosphere (inside and outside);great location from our hotel (walking distance) and would go back again if we come next year for event!!!!
Douglas our waiter was wonderful! I had to send back my grouper as it was underdone, but it came back perfect. The chef is a typical primadonna-our table was practically in front of his window and it was actually entertaining.
I think Eli's Table is one of Charleston's most under-rated restaurants. The food is always exceptional and the patio is one of the nicer outdoor dining spots downtown. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered.
First time visiting. Food and service were terrific. We were seated very close to the kitchen so it was slightly noisy but nothing too loud. A very enjoyable experience and we will definitely return.
Unfortunately, our experience was negatively biased because our service was very slow. I was served my appetizer before the cocktails we ordered after first sitting down. I think they had to distill the Bourbon. The entree then took a long time to come. This despite the place not seeming full.
Eli’s Table was great as usual. The restaurant is quiet and the service was excellent. I had the salmon and my husband had the mahi mahi. They were both delicious.
A favorite lunch or brunch spot that is patroned primarily by locals. Very quaint and the food never disappoints.
Great food. The wait staff was busy with two large parties and found additional time to ensure we were taken care of.
The food was amazing our server was fabulous.
My spinach and mushroom omelet was fine. When I declined the potatoes-or-grits that came with it and asked for a few salad greens, my server neglected to mention that I would be charged for an entire side salad (on a side plate). I asked if I could get some bread to go with my omelet; again, my server did not tell me that two slices of toast would mean a $3 charge for 'bread service'. Really?
We were there just for a girls' night out and it was amazing all around. I highly recommend the duck and waffles! Will recommend to others.
Chad. Chad. Chad. The server had the most influence during our dinner. My wife and I were having a rough weekend and we rarely get to experience date night. We were actually thinking of leaving the restaurant because we were having such a rough day. Chad spoke about ten words and we were hooked to stay. Man he made us feel great. Thank you Chad. I can only hope all of the servers are as inspiring as him.
Delicious. Ordered a bunch of things for Breakfast. Only complaint, not everything was hot. Still delicious so didn't complain but would have preferred everything to be hot
This is the second time I've brought a group of friends to Eli's for their first experience. Once again, we were celebrating a special occasion and Eli's did not disappoint. Eli's is the trifecta: incredible service (thank you Tony--who is wonderfully attentive); amazing food (thank you Chef Billy--who even took the time to come meet us at the table); and phenomenal overall engagement (thank you Raymond--who puts up with even the most absurd requests and chooses phenomenal wine pairings).
Eli's always elevates dining so that it becomes a truly unforgettable experience. All of my girlfriends said it was one of the best culinary journeys they've been on in a year.
Waiter was terrible. However after 1 hour with no food manager realized there was a problem. Really went out of his way to make evening better.
I was really looking forward to trying this place out. And I was so incredibly disappointed. We stepped in the front door and waited for at least five minutes before we finally took it upon ourselves to interrupt the maître d'. There were people standing around and the maître d' was arguing with one of the waitstaff about tables that were available. We were finally taken to our table( Which we did end up changing because it was really foggy outside and sort of misting so we opted to move underneath the Pergola) The maître d' did put a tablecloth on but we never received any silverware until after our appetizer came nor did we receive any cocktails until after our appetizer came as well which was at least a good 15 minutes. We ordered the goat cheese prosciutto and fig bruschetta. There had to be at least 3 tablespoons of fig preserves I never tasted any goat cheese I'm assuming it was between the almost microscopic slice of prosciutto and the bread but all you could taste was fig and bread. Very disappointing for the price.
I ordered the memorable mohito. The only thing Memorable about it was that it was awful. It tasted like club soda, the mint had not been properly muddled and it was completely water down with no simple syrup whatsoever. I Express my disappointment to the waiter who by the way never even read us the specials until we asked. And it was another 15 minutes I was almost done with my dinner before he brought me a replacement. Which was slightly better but still pretty awful. I was not offered another beverage of my choice instead.
The table next to us had a big hoopla with 3 to 4 waitstaff standing around them as they complained about being ignored and being there for quite some time.
The entrées were delicious. However the overall experience was very poor. For the price that you're paying for these entrées: the service, the ambience, the waitstaff and the maître d' should be impeccable!
Overall very very disappointing.
Not inexpensive but worth every penny. Service and food superb. Second time there, we will continue to visit here on every trip to Charleston.
My family and I enjoyed Elis Table, very cozy restaurant with nice outdoor seating area. The food was only good, by Charleston standards. Waiter was young, perhaps new, and was not particularly familiar with the menu, or skilled at knowing when to check on the table and when not to. So, service was very average. In most cities, I would say that Eli's table was very good, but in Charleston, just ok.
Great meal and service! Sat outside on the patio on a lovely day.
Greated with a smile for breakfast , sat us right away. Staff very friendly and polite . Bacon bloody Mary’s are the best. !!
The food was very tasty. I had the shrimp and grits and it was very good. The portion was small for the price, my opinion. My wife was just ordering a salad. A beet salad. Our server suggested a side of salmon with the salad. It was a great suggestion. The salad was maybe four bites. Tiny. The salmon was perfect.
The food took over an hour to be served. They apologized for the delay. The kitchen got slammed with everyone ordering at the same time. It was busy and I understand that does happen. They also apologized for being out of bread. We were told it was the day after Valentine’s Day and they ran out yesterday. That I don’t understand. Worst case you go two blocks to Harris teeter and get bread. Although it should be fresh everyday.
All in all the place was very comfortable and the menu is interesting and what I had was very good If you are not very hungry and want to try some good tasting food you will enjoy Eli’s Table.
We had heard good things about Eli's Table and were looking forward to dining there. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to our expectations from some of the reviews we had read.
We started with the Gruyere cheese fondue which was actually quite tasty. We thought that we were in for a treat with the rest of our meal, however that wasn't meant to be. One of my wife's favorite dishes is Shrimp and Grits and she has tried that dish in many southern restaurants as well as having made it at home. We had heard that Eli's Table's Shrimp and Grits were award winning, but in my wife's opinion, they were the least favorite of all the one's that she has had. She said that if those were voted the "Best in Charleston" as our waitress had mentioned, she didn't want to try them anywhere else during our visit. I had the half chicken dish and while the chicken itself was ok, the mashed sweet potatoes were pureed to the point where they looked and tasted like baby food while the one stem of broccoli tasted as if it had been burned.
While other guests nearby us received complimentary champagne, our waitress never provided us with any. When it was time for our check, she ran our credit card and brought us the bill back to sign but with no pen to sign it with, then she disappeared for the next ten minutes before we had a chance to ask her for a pen.
All in all, their attention to detail was lacking and we were disappointed in our entire experience. The best thing about our meal was the warm bread brought to our table before our meal. Your experience may differ, but we won't be back.
Outstanding service and delicious food/wine
One of our favorite places. This visit was for Valentine's dinner. Staff is amazing. Raymond is a treat.
Would not recommend. We waited 30min for our breakfast, people that arrived after us were served before us. The resturant was not busy.
The sweet potato pancakes were so burnt they couldn’t be eaten. (See photo)
The service was terrible.
Won’t go back there again.
Waste of money.
I love this place! Parker was amazing and the food was literally to die for I can not wait to tell my guests about Eli’s Table!!
Very nice place- the grits cake with the shrimp Benedict was amazing and the sweet potato pancakes definitely delivered
