Eldridge House Grille
Chicken Fried Steak
jalapeno cream gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans
two lobster rolls, white wine garlic butter
It was very clean, friendly staff not at all busy as I would have expected. I got the Prime Rub and my husband chose Alfredo with chicken and we also shared 2 appetizers. Tons of food and we took alot home! I wasn't as impressed with the Prime Rib as I had hoped to be. It had a strange texture, and the flavoring was good but didn't seem to match my expectations for that cut of meat. Overall a good experience. The manager came by several times to check on us.
We felt safe as the tables were distanced apart. The staff all wore masks. The food and drinks were excellent. Service was spot on.
Outstanding food and service!
Our server was great. She gavie us the perfect amount of "attention". The food was wonderful and the mixed drinks were amazing!! Price was a bit on the higher side but not horrible.
Quiet and comfortable brunch on Sunday afternoon. Food was good and service excellent. They did a great job with Covid precautions and we are thankful for that.
Food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Our group ordered a variety...fish, pasta, salads, etc. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Jayhawker margarita was really good, too!
Great with social distancing. Good food. Except for charging $1.50 for extra dressing....
I ate at the restaurant two days in a row and ordered the salmon both nights. On both occasions, I asked that the salmon be prepared medium rare and it was definitely medium. The service and remainder of the meal both were very good.
The environment provides an air of casual but upscale dining. The food is reliable and the wait staff competent.
We made a dinner reservation for 500pm (after daughter’s KU move-in time) to ensure the restaurant could accommodate in light of COVID-19 restrictions. Promptly greeted and seated, but that’s where the promptness ended. We sat at our table for 10 minutes without 1 person coming to check on us, wait on us, or even acknowledge we were there. As a matter of fact, 2 additional tables were seated and served (by 2 different servers), before I finally asked one of the servers to please find our server and send them over. The host finally brought us water, but no server. Another 10 minutes went by before anyone came to the table. The server apologized and indicated no one told him he had a table. Still unacceptable, as the host sat us, I spoke with another server, and the host then brought us water. There were only 4 table TOTAL in our section, so it wasn’t busy. Kinda set a bad tone for the rest of the meal for sure. Food was pretty good (not spectacular, but good). Fix the communication issues. Mass Street can’t stand to lose another establishment.
Words cannot describe just how bad our brunch was, we arrived at 10:30 asked for coffee they had none made. 20 minutes later we got coffee, had to ask for silverware and napkins, waitress looked at me and said”oh”
Eggs acmes 10 minutes later, I think they cracked them and put them on the plate. They never hit the fry pan!!!!!
Hash browns were still frozen, toast was not toasted, had to ask for condiments!!!
This place was horrible beyond words😡😡😡😡😡
I would have been better off driving down Mass Street throwing out $28.00 out the window.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Reservations are not required but highly recommended. We were seated on time and we were not rushed. Everything you would expect in a nice restaurant. Expect to see us again.
It was such a wonderful date night. The service was great and food was delicious. Plus they were very good keeping us safe and at a distance of others because of covid-19.
Filet was perfect, server was good, price is high.
We have been there dozens of times.
I notified them at the time reservation was made that it was a birthday celebration. They took our dessert request and never brought it out. After 15 minutes of waiting, it just was not worth waiting any longer.
Had dinner on a Saturday. The E now has the best steaks in Lawrence and great truffle fries. The asparagus was sad and puny. Had breakfast then next morning. The best parts were the service and no waiting. The food -- eggs, meats, hash browns, etc. -- were uninspired.
Just what we wanted - ate at the bar - perfect
Great food great service
Great service good food. Didn’t get dessert because kitchen had closed???
They let their liquor license expire. It sure was a shock to sit in a bar and not be able to order drinks. I never would have made this reservation had I known that there was no alcohol being served.
The staff opened the main dining room that was not supposed to be opened until later in the evening when they saw that it was fir our Mom’s 79th birthday. We really appreciated it! Good and service was great!!
Wait staff was exceptional and attentive. This establishment had just gone through renovations and we thought we would try their new menu. The new decor is lovely. We did not know that they had lost their liquor license but BYOB was encouraged. Menu looked very intriguing with interesting flavor combinations. Execution of the dishes was a little bit lacking. I ordered a wedge salad which was slightly overdressed but absolutely delicious. I had ordered a carbonara dish and the wine (alcohol) was not completely cooked out which was a bit off-putting. It wasn't overly rich which was pleasant, but not burning off the alcohol gave it a bit of an odd flavor which would otherwise have been spot on. We had ordered a couple of appetizers, a fondue and crab cakes which were both pleasant. The fondue was more like a queso which I am good with, but don't call it fondue unless you serve it that way, pot and all. The crab cakes were good but the dipping sauces just did not quite compliment the cakes. My husband had ordered chicken which was served with green beans flavored with smokey sweet bacon. However the vegetable dish came out with way too much bacon for the green beans. The bacon overwhelmed the dish. He said the chicken was delightful moist and delicious. It was served with a cauliflower mash that was rather bland. Coffee was spectacular and is often the most overlooked item, but it was spot on and delicious. My spouse had pie and ice cream and was delighted. In all, the experience was good, portions are overly generous, the food is basically done well but flavorings toppings are not executed well. For a mid-priced place you will eat well. If you're looking for a fine dining experience, I think the kitchen staff is still learning and growing. Perhaps just an off night for them.
Saved lots of money because they have no liquor license. The food was very good--and 1/2 price Monday burger night can't be beat!
I took my girlfriend here for dinner the night of our formal dance, it was a very calming and comfortable setting for a fancy dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing.
Our waiter was so sweet and helpful. Overall we had a wonderful experience!
Excellent! the food the staff, everything was top notch!
THEY DIDNT HAVE A LIQOUR LOCENSE AND I COULDNT HAVE CHARDONNEY!!! Pretty annoyed.
Food was delicious! Service was good. The only negative was no alcohol could be served due to some paperwork/license being in limbo.
We would definitely return. Next time we hope to partake in some cocktails with dinner.
They were understaffed that night. Otherwise, good experience.
Sitting in bar area on a Friday night was very loud.
I made reservations at the Grille for a quiet birthday celebration. When we arrived, we were told that the KU football office had usurped the entire restaurant and as a result, we were seated in the bar. It was so noisy, and certainly had no atmosphere, that we could not even carry on a conversation. We should have been called and given the choice to cancel
Our meal was excellent. 3 of us, each found the meal and service quite good. Service was most attentive to our wishes. The entire experience was exceptional.
Everything we ate was delicious. I especially loved the Lobster Mac & Cheese. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall a wonderful experience and will be coming back again!
Our waiter was awesome. Food was great with value.
We had a very nice meal with friends. The historic Eldridge Grill is lovely after a recent refresh. We asked for a quiet table since one of the party has a hearing impairment and they gladly obliged. Our waitress Maddie was friendly and professional. Our food was beautifully presented and flavorful. The pot roast and French Dip were delicious. We will return.
we love dining here!! Great food..great staff..great views...
We made sure our server knew that we were heading to the KU game and she made sure that we got served in plenty of time to make it to the game. Food was great!
Upscale but relaxed feel – one of the few places you can hold a conversation with your dinner partners. Everything ordered from the menu (diverse choices) was excellent and reasonably priced. Homey food such as pot roast and caesar salad was just as good as the ribeye and roast chicken. Service was well-timed and friendly.
An enjoyable anniversary dinner! Service was superb. Food couldn’t have been better. We love visiting the Eldridge. See you soon!
