El Torito - Marina Del Rey
Service was iffy. Water cup was empty until the manager came over. Waitress had 4 tables
Stephanie was my server. As busy as it was she provided excellent service.
Love This Place...Great Food and service and the view is amazing
Love the fajitas
Loved it! It was our first time there, and we definitely would go back.
Meet and greet lunch
Sorry, I hate writing bad reviews, I am typically very optimistic and can see past a lot, There was just no bright side or anything positive. Rarely do I have an experience where I can not wait to leave. The food is just OK, the Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday specials are "OK". The service was the worst and after looking back on the whole experience, everything comes back to our server. She was the one that seated us, a group of 4 at a table only good for 3. It was some time before she came back, when she did, we asked her about the Taco Tuesday and how it worked, she hurried through her answer and took off. We were all left confused. When she came to take our order she was clearly hurried, did not really listen and would interrupt while we were ordering, which explains the next errors, We all ordered taco Tue tacos but only I got a ticket, she dropped off while racing by, I was able to get mine and get back before we saw her again to ask about all the other tacos, when she says, "NO, YOU 3 ORDERED TACO PLATES", yeah no ...why did my taco order work but not the other three?? LOL, she says OK, I need to go rush and cancel what I put in. She raced by with a ticket with 9 tacos on it. We also ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu, only my items came out and very far apart. When we asked about all the other items, she said she would check on them, based on the time and the broken delivery I am betting those items were either not entered OR when she went to "cancel" the three taco platers she also canceled the other appetizers. Our last app showed up at the end when we were all done. She never checked on us, we always had to waive her down, ask for everything, drinks were never refilled. It was just an awful experience, the food and the prices are just not that great to overlook all of this. I won't be going back to the MDR location, and will really have to wonder if I will do El Torito at all. We had not been in two years and this was very unpleasant.
On a busy weekend even with a reservation I had to wait about 30 min., Past that, service was nice, food always delicious.
Have not been here in years. Decided to come back and was disappointed. The service was great, great location by the water. The food was not good. Ordered carne asada plate and food was cold, bland just not good. Wife ordered a salad and literally looked like it came out of a bag. Unfortunately will not b coming back as there are better options in the area if you are looking for similar ambiance.
Fabulous Sunday lunch! Food was delicious (as always) but our waiter was absolutely amazing - so prompt and attentive. Thank you!
We had made reservations for 7:30pm because we were at the Marina to scatter my husband’s ashes at sea.
We did not dock until 8:00pm so we had to be placed on a waitlist. The bathroom had only two stalls and there was a wait. The stall I used was not clean and the hook for purses was not visible. I placed my purse on top of the toilet paper holder and it splashed into the toilet!😔
The food came out some hot and others lukewarm. I’ve noticed the later towards closing time, the worse everything gets. My daughter ordered the flaming fajitas and they didn’t come flaming at all.
It was a very long day and not worth complaining.
Margaritas were below average. Window shade was broken. Appetizer and main meal arrived at same time.
It was a perfect venue and atmosphere for a birthday celebration
I made birthday reservations in advance and the waiter told me he didn’t know when I had to remind him.
Excellent atmosphere. Excellent service. Excellent value. Excellent food.
The problem was the host was sitting every new customer in my area and not the other areas of the restaurant. Made me a little uncomfortable plus the other half of the restaurant was empty.
It was a beautiful day and nice birthday lunch my biggest complaint was the Carne asada did not taste like Carne asada but the spicy bloody Mary was delicious
Too packed; we got there and they told us they had nothing for us even though we had a reservation. Party of 6 ; they messed up 3 people’s orders and they made the remake so rush the cheese wasn’t even melted on the enchiladas. Prefer the Santa Monica location for quality
Made our reservation on open table and requested a window. Very pleased to be seated on time and at a window. Great service and food
Good service and good food in a great location.
Sadly the food was mediocre and the service left a lot to be desired.
Our waitress, Aunee (spelling) was outstanding…friendly, vert attentive, and very welcoming. Great sense of humor! El Torrito’s-Marina Del Rey is VERY lucky to have her on staff. Because of her we will be making a return visit in 7-10 days.
My sister and I made a reservation for this location. It was going to be for my birthday dinner. We arrived a few minutes early for the reservation, but they could seat us immediately, which was considerate. There were a decent number of people, but the place was not packed at all. When we were seated, we were given complimentary chips and salsa. After that, we were never checked on again by anyone. We waited for over 20 minutes, and our drink order wasn’t even taken. We weren’t located in an obscure corner of the restaurant either. We were seated in one of the round booths in the middle of the restaurant. Another couple was sitting in a booth next to us. They were left waiting as well. After them, a third couple was seated two booths down. They at least got checked on by a server, and it appeared that their drink orders were at least taken.
After waiting for over 25 minutes, we finally flagged down a busboy and told him no one had come to our table. He seemed surprised, told us which table number we were and that he was going to find the server who should have had our table number. We don’t know what happened from there because no one ever came back. We sat for a moment number to find another restaurant that was could reserve at the last minute. Our original reservation time at El Torito was 7:30pm. When we were leaving, we told the host that we wanted to go because a server had not helped us, we didn’t even get our drink order (not even water). Instead of questioning us and trying to make the situation right, she asked if we were going to leave and said that she was sorry about that happening. She didn’t try to inquire about us staying by rectifying the situation. This was a terrible experience, but more importantly, they showed that they did not care about their customers.
Mommy, daughter date. The food was great the atmosphere was diverse, everyone was extremely kind, the ambiance was chilled, and so I think you all deserve a five start all the way around!
Great food and people
This place is awful. Everything about it.
- extremely loud
- weak drinks
- terrible guac
- over priced
- indoor only
Food was great!
The same lady that was cleaning was serving the food 😖
Food was warm as if it had been sitting for a little while. The margarita tasted like water. Had to send one back because it had stuff floating in it.
Very loud, food and service good. Tables not as clean as they should be.
I enjoy an amazing view of the water while dining and this was perfect. Also, the salmon tacos were delish as well as the watermelon margaritas, good vibes.
It was so great to be back to one of my favorite places in the Marina. The food was great and everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
Excellent service and very friendly staff, the food was fantastic, and a great table location with an awesome view of the marina!
You must have been short handed when we visited. Service was good, just slow. Food was excellent.
I had a reservation for 6 pm and arrived nearly 10 minutes early. There was a large gathering of people outside waiting. No ones tables were ready at the reservation time apparently the reservation is only an “arrival time” then you have to wait. Our service at the table was extremely slow so slow. He was a nice guy but the whole ordering and getting food was snail paced. Then there was a woman who stood up and started yelling crazy talk about the service to the entire restaurant. That was very stressful bc staff just stood around and let her go off for a long time and now a day you have no idea if someone is going to go off the deep end. It was not a good evening.
After two hours of waiting only drinks were served. They blamed the poor service on lack of cooks not waiters. Discrimination ?
Busy glad we made a reservation . Great service and delicious food
I tried to make a reservation with El Torito directly and they would not let me. I am so glad we made a reservation through OpenTable. When we arrived there was a very long wait so we were happy to be seated right away with our reservation. We had a table looking out at the water so that was nice. The food was good and the waiter was nice.
