El Techo Ratings and Reviews
I'd come expecting a decent brunch experience even though it was raining. The covered terrace and heat lamps made the experience quite comfortable, but the jalapeno cornbread eggs benedict was lackluster, lacking any punch or flavor, really. My Bloody Mary, even though made with a custom mix, was uninteresting as well, save, perhaps, for the generous portion of pickled veggies. On a nicer day, I can imagine sipping mimosas and overlooking the drabness of the food and feeling happy with my brunch choice. On this particular day, I could have done better elsewhere.
I had reserved a table for 12 for my birthday celebration for a Saturday brunch! I know they don’t take reservations for dinner, so I was quite pleased when I found out! It was the perfect brunch!! We were seated right next to the view on a long table that fit us all! It’s a small restaurant up on the rooftop, so it was a little snug! But nothing that would bother us. The food and drinks were all amazing and trendy! They also sang happy birthday to me with a candle in the buñuelos! Our server was also super nice and patient putting up with my crazy friends and family! We also left my gifts up there and came back 30 mins later to the hostess holding them for us. Great customer service!
The food and drinks here were great and the view was lovely. That being said if you are trying for a Sunday brunch, I'd skip it. The tables that seat two are the size of a lunch tray and so close together that the waitress's hair kept brushing my arm as she checked on the next table. Not what I'd like as I'm eating my breakfast. It was REALLY loud as well. Had to practically yell over all noise just to be heard across the tiny table. we came when it first opened and it was great, now it's too crowded.
Sadly disappointing. It took 3 weeks to get a brunch reservation, so the actual experience was anti-climatic. Of course it's great to have brunch on a rooftop patio, but it can't be the only redeeming factor. The eggs benedict was good and served on jalepeno corn bread, which was a nice change. The service was TERRIBLE!! After taking our order, our server was never seen again, until check time. We had to keep asking the bus boys to bring salt, hot sauce, water, etc...
So if you want a rooftop view and are willing to wait three weeks for a table, this is your place.
