Ed's Lobster Bar - Sag Harbor
Went for my boyfriend's 40th, and it didn't disappoint. He is a lobster lover and was so happy with the meal there are just no words. Staff was on top of it and super friendly. Couldn't have asked for any better.
If Ed’s had heaters it would have been better
We went with another family for dinner and they had large tables to accommodate us. The manager and staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a good vibe.. We had a pizza, tuna tartare and fried Ipswich clams followed by brisket burgers and lobster rolls. Everything was delicious.
There is a local band that plays a few times a week. The band played jazz and rock n roll. It was a nice vibe and very fun for a Sunday lunch.
If you’ve been to the NYC location you get that NE feel and the food is always great the same is true at Sag Harbor.
The food is always first rate. The service is among the best I have experienced. It is always a pleasure to visit Ed’s.
The freshest oysters from Montauk and the best lobster around.
Jazz night at Ed's Lobster Bar is always a treat! The staff are super friendly, the food is great and the musicianship is world class. My wife and I have been there four Thursdays in a row and haven't been disappointed once.
Went on a quiet Friday evening in January. Lovely host and manager, excellent service, and best of all, great food (lobster roll and burger). We even enjoyed the wines by the glass. It was very quiet and we were pleased with the value. We will definitely return!
The ambience at Ed's is really off -- too bright for dinner. And there was no bar tender so we sent the drinks, made by the owner, back twice.
went for the Jam Session; will go for that again, but eat elsewhere. The food was truly awful. How can you have lousy fish in a fishing community? No one is minding that store. But the staff were really nice.
Excellent!
David, the manager, tried hard, but ultimately, the place failed to provide acceptable food or service. The place was far understaffed, which, given it being the off-season, was not intolerable. However, to have management tell us that they were too busy to make a drink, is simply bad business. Moreover, we were promised a steep discount on a bottle of wine, which, of course, did not appear on the bill (too upset to ask at the end). The server, who was brand new, tried hard, but was unable to overcome lack of basic training (gluten free specified dish came out with gluten abound), and the food simply wasn't very good. Very unfortunate as their NYC location has always delivered. I truly miss Bay Burger!
Place was closed. Why did they accept the reservation if they were going to be closed.
We highly recommend the lobster roll.. large chunks of lobster and no filler!!! Also you must try the mussels in the lobster broth... exceptional! Their service also could not be better.. very attentive wait staff. Not much ambience... but who needs that if you go with someone you care about! We sat outside and enjoyed the informal patio.. and each other’s company.
We went to Ed’s after having difficulty finding a table elsewhere to finish off Labor Day weekend. Ordering was difficult and they got a few wrong items which were corrected except for one dish they kept getting wrong. My vegetables were cooked from frozen (corn and beans). Quite expensive which I understand for Sag Harbor but cost didn’t match experience and it’s not in downtown either - it’s about a mile out of cebtral Sag. Margarita was not drinkable. Tuna steak was huge but so bland I didn’t even finish it.
Won’t go back here for sure. Maybe the one in NYC offers a better experience?
Lobster roll was good as was lobster Mac and cheese. Otherwise stay away from other non-core items from menu.
Delicious Linguine with Clams & Fish ‘n Chips
Had waited all summer to finally get to check this place out. Pretty disappointed. It's not a place for dinner it's more of a snack shack. We walked in and at first were impressed with the decor and modern look. We then waited for nearly 5 mins where no one greeted us or told us where we could sit. I had to grab someone's attention to ask if we could sit. And it wasn't busy at all. We sat at one table and had to move because it had used utensils on the table. The table we sat at next had food all over the floor and more used utensils. If you are going to charge $36 for a small lobster roll you should at least clean your restaurant. Food was overpriced and average. There's much better places that provide better service and a more reasonable and better tasting lobster roll. Nothing to see here unfortunately as I was really excited.
Food is mediocre - there is ZERO managerial staff
Second time I’ve gone and been disappointed. There will not be a third time
Lobster roll was outstanding!
Great menu and super staff - love it. It is the classic roadside twist on modern dining.
The food was outstanding . We had lobster roll, fish tacos and New England Clam Chowder. Highly recommend!
Nothing close to quality in NYC
Highly recommend trying this new spot. Friendly service, superior food.
The place is nice but pricey. They were out of the wine and appetizer we picked. Mussels were good. Fish and chips were so so. Give it a try. Maybe they were having an off night
No need to go out to Montauk/Amagansett for a lobster roll anymore. Lobster roll was so good we went 2 days in a row. Oh...and the fries...you won’t be able to stop eating them. Best restaurant in the Hamptons!
Lobster roll was good, the NE clam chowder was terrible... It tasted off and was watery. I don't get the loud house music, thumping in my head, in a lobster place. 🤔 maybe I'm not the demographic target. But. Tried the restaurant and there is not much spin to a lobster roll so it doesn't stand out from any other "lobster" place on the east end or any end.
Bright, cool and casual restaurant with delicious food and drinks, great service....quiet on an early Monday evening!
I would give zero stars if possible. Everything about this place is wrong. We went for dinner on a Saturday evening. This place should not be open for dinner. It’s a casual lunch place at best but it’s overpriced and doesn’t even try. The service was non existent. We sat outside and was attacked by mosquitoes because they didn’t think to spray their property? We had to wait over 40 mins for our bland sub-par food. We had the lobster roll which you would assume would be a specialty. It was the worst lobster roll I’ve had in the entire East End! We ordered oysters (how do you ruin that?!?). They were too small and didn’t even provide a spoon for vinegar. We had to wait 30 mins to get them too. Finally, I have to also mention the terrible drinks we ordered. They tasted like they were mixed by a 12 yr old kid. Just terrible and so embarrassing. This place will not last the season. They don’t understand where they are or what they’re doing.
