Great food and ambiance! Will definitely be back for the Cali burger
We went out for Valentine’s Day, it was busy as expected. We had reservations for 8:30pm and still ended up having to wait approx. 10 minutes to be seated which isn’t the worst considering the day. Our server was very kind and gave us plenty of recommendations, he was still timely and attentive even though the high volume of customers. The drink menu had a variety for all yet wasn’t too expensive. The food menu had plenty of options, my lady is vegetarian yet the plant based menu and the appetizers still gave her plenty to choose from. I had steak ( fillet 7oz) and sushi (spicy tuna roll) along with a few Tequila Sunrises which were quite strong. From the food and drinks everything was delicious, no complaints and we definitely will be returning whether for a date night, or a casual dinner with some friends.
Nice place, server was friendly. We ordered cocktails, a couple apps, and we each had the surf and turf. Drinks and apps were good. Steaks could have been warmer and the shrimp was cold and came on a separate plate, unlike shown in the picture. They were out of their main dessert.
Overall, an okay experience. Nothing I would run back to.
Half the menu not available and no hot drinks available
We were there last night and there was a "Restaurant Week" menu and I had the ribs with potato salad. I was thinking I'd have a bite or two of potato salad since I am not a big fan, but their potato salad was like none other - it was warm, creamy, bacon-y - completely off my diet but worth every bite! The ribs fell off the bone. I always love their chips and guac as well. Perfect spot to head too before or after the movies.
Last night the service was a bit slow, but we were chatting away so it wasn't that much of a problem since we saw a movie before hand. Ask for a seat in the dining room if you are not into the at least 8 TVs in the bar (not a fan of cage wrestling).
Still great but noticing the prices increasing throughout the year
Great food, amazing atmosphere, genuine-good quality service! Will be coming back!
First time dining at Earl’s. Overall experience was just OK. Not against giving Earl’s another chance. During my visit I was seated in a booth with what I learned was occupied by off duty staff (guest) of Earl’s. The group was highly intoxicated and very loud. In further, I observed one of the employees/guest from the aforementioned booth approach the bar and and physically reach into the condiments caddy removing cocktail garnishes. In every establishment that would be considered a health code violation. I summoned the on duty manager and made him aware of my observation..... He freely stated “the individual was not on duty but she was the head Bartender. Regardless of her position as a guest she should NEVER approach the bar and definitely not use her non sanitized to handle the garnishes that will be placed in the drinks of other customers. The Manager stayed he would discuss the matter with her but I never saw him approach her. Prior to ending my dining experience, the group left and never once did he speak to her. Hopefully it was an one time incident. Food was excellent however the cocktails needs a little TLC.
Sam, our server, was amazing! Very attentive & on top of it. The quality of the food was superb. No complaints all around.
Went on a Sunday for Brunch. Three of us ordered the American Breakfast. Told that it didn't come with toast! So we asked for side orders of toast. Then we were told they were out of toast! When egg orders came, mine was wrong. I had asked for my eggs cooked basted. Server did not know what that was! I explained that the butter in the pan is ladled over the egg yolks to partially cook the top of the yolks. When the order came, the eggs were sunnyside up and accompanied by a separate shallow bowl of partially melted butter! Manager came over to see how we were doing. Explained that the eggs were not cooked properly. She apologized and took them back to the kitchen to have the order corrected. I also mentioned that we were surprised that they had run out of toast. When the corrected order came back it was accompanied by a side order of toast! I guess they found two slices somewhere in the kitchen. Finally when the bill came, we were charged $3.50 for the toast! I would have expected to be comped for the toast due to the messed up order. The ambiance at Earl's is pleasant but noisy. Music is quite loud so not easy to talk. As for the drinks, two of us had specialty cocktails. Mine was mostly ice in a short glass. Gone in three short sips. Not worth the $14 price tag. Have been to Earl's multiple times in past and service and quality of food is inconsistent. At times, outstanding. At times mediocre. Not the place to go if you want to have quiet conversation. Location is convenient, but you pay for it in higher prices and erratic quality and service.
Love the look and the atmosphere! Service was great and the food was good. My California burger was great. My husband said his salad bowl was good but not great, but he looks forward to trying another dish at our next visit.
The restaurant across the walkway, The Yard House, had closed 3 days prior to our reservation and it quickly became clear that Earl's was completely unprepared for the additional business: the problems started as soon as we were seated. It took our server over 15 minutes to show up with the menus. She was great, but it was clear that the restaurant staff, particularly the kitchen, was totally overwhelmed. It was a half an our before we got our drinks. My salad showed up eventually (the plate was ice cold); about 15 minutes after that my wife's salad showed up, but the salmon filet was raw. She took it back to the kitchen thinking it would be a quick fix, but no: we waited some more. After nearly an hour with no food we finally decided to leave. (The appetizer, garlic french fries, showed up as we were putting our coats on to leave.) The server was apologetic, then two managers showed up to smooth things over, but - seriously - that was awful. We've been going to Earl's since they opened; I really doubt we will be going back.
Would have given a better review but the brunch portions were very small. Service was great though!
Very underwhelming. Service was not great. Salmon was way overcooked that it was not edible.
By the time I got my plate, my friends were done with food.
I don’t love earls but I go for convenience.
This is a usually good spot BUT, the music is too loud, the food this time was not great, hamburger too small, my salmon dish weird tasting, the dessert was fine and the waitstaff is ALWAYS great...
I asked for my steak plain with not butter it came with butter.
I wanted to order a salad but the waitress was in a hurry to put the order in so he couldn’t wait for me to decide in a salad for appetizer. When he came back I asked if I could have any veggies with the guacamole since I can’t eat the chips (when before they game me celery) he said the guacamole could only come with chips. He was not kind and rush.
Very nice menu and attentive servers. Really beautiful interior design. A feel-good spot that’s a welcome refuge from the everyday.
Steaks are small and lack flavor. Chicken strips are good, wings are good, tried the side Ceasar twice it was soft both times, desserts are good. Chicken sliders are good.
The host, hostess and our waitress were so accommodating. My 13-year old daughter celebrated her birthday with 10 friends. Our waitress read the situation perfectly and was so patient and relaxed with the tweens.
Earl’s is a very welcoming restaurant with nice ambiance. I went with 7 friends and we were given separate checks which helped a lot. Bernie, our server, was outstanding and did an excellent job. She was very attentive. Big thumbs up!
Consistently good food, well prepared and attractively served.
Limited menu choices, however.
Wish there were alternative green vegetables to go with the entrees.
Great for dinner before the movies!
Great food and a good price! They were very busy when we arrived early. They sat us at our reservation time not earlier so we went to the bar. We tried some of their specials and they were very good. The place is very clean and friendly.
Great deal for brunch and mimosas. The food is good too. The service should have been quicker with refills with the bottomless mimosas. I do recommend this place for brunch!
We eat at Earl’s several times per year and the experience is always good. This time, our server was exceptional. While she was quite busy, she kept an eye out for any needs we might have. I wish I knew her name. Thanks for a great evening!
Good food and great service! We ordered the blackened Sirloin and Steak and fries and both steaks were great. Will definitely visit again!
We’ve dined at earls a few times and this was a very disappointing experience. They brought out the wrong food, a kids meal we didn’t order but were charged for and got no compensation for the mess ups. The kitchen even charged us to “fix” the order of tacos they messed up.
Great ambience and good food. I love cm=oming here for brunch! I left off a star because they ran out of one of the menu items. Otherwise I'd recommend to others and come back again!
Great vibe. I hosted a brunch for 8 people during "happy hour". Will definitely go back.
This is the first restaurant in chicago which did not treat me like money and let me and my friend relax even after we were done . They did not ask for check even when we were done and they took the plate , only when we requested check they would bring one which was very pleasant . They gave us our time and didn’t chase us out after we were done . Was an amazing experience overall . Will definitely be my spot for dates or friends get together .
Poor service and a special occasion wasn’t acknowledged.
Absolutely amazing! Will definitely be going back - the staff was very helpful and full of great suggestions. Buffalo cauliflower appetizer was very good!
Hi Julie, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback! We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Tanya Kishan General Manager
Large menu with plenty of delicious options. They had 1/2 off bottles of wine the night I was there, which was great because their bottles are not cheap. The server seemed a bit inconvenienced that we were there. But the food was great and I will definitely be back when it is warm out to take advantage of that patio. If you have to drive, they do validate parking for the attached garage.
We've been going to Steppenwolf for years and stumbled across this place while searching for another place to eat after the show. I didn't realize that this was opened for 4 years. We loved our meals and we looking forward to going back again. By the way, we parked at New City, walked to Steppenwolf and then Earl's validated our parking ticket.
Excellent food and service!
Service wasn’t very great and food was overpriced for what you’re getting. Great space and good for fitting groups but overall not a great dining experience.
Another great experience here! The ambience is perfect for a weekend brunch and such a great price for the mimosa brunch!
Hi DCov, Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to leave us a review! Sincerely, Tanya Kishan General Manager
Great happy hour, and although our dessert was just NOT right the restaurant had no hesitation on removing it from our bill; Kudos......
Soup was cold, and upon asking for a new one, it was cold again - supposed to be a warm chowder. Salad was good, but it should be for $20...if in the area, worthwhile, but wouldn’t go out of way / not a destination restaurant.
Loved happy hour at Earl's! Great food and drink specials, beautiful light filled space and awesome service!
I recommend Earls for the food and the waitstaff service. The truffle fries, burger, and the ahi poke bowl are all great dishes. I have to call out how long it took for us to get seated with a reservation. The front of house manager had us wait for 20 minutes with a reservation with open tables in plain sight. If I didn't step up to confront how blatantly awful her deliberate delay was, we would have waited longer, I imagine. It never fails: whenever we make reservations at Earls, we are always asked to wait in sight of empty tables. This makes no sense! But on the night that this review is written about, it was so flagrantly bad how deliberate the waiting window was for those of us with reservations, when there were empty tables in plain sight of all us waiting.
