   I had requested a booth … the hostess went to see if it was ready , and then just waved her arms to come on back to where she was , and told us no booth was available, looking around I saw 4 empties… the service was slow ( because of staffing) I’m sure… food was So So the filet that we ordered was full of gristle… overall not a good experience for $120 only 2 guest

   We had been wanting to eat here for quite a while and was a bit take back by the interior - did not realize it was a step back in time. Not a big deal as it was fun and kind of cool. The service was great. The salad was FANTASTIC and I will return for that item alone. We were disappointed in our steaks (filets) as they were more smoky than mesquite grilled as expected. The 9 oz. cut was a clearly an end cut of the filet and not worth the $27. The 5 oz. filet cut was okay and not too bad for $17. I'll try the ribeye next time. We won't be rushing back anytime soon, but for a quick steak fix and a great salad I will return for a lunch fix. Too many other places in Dallas to spend $70 for a lunch for 2.

   My family's dinner experience at Dunston SteakHouse on Aug 13, was poor. The waitress gave us 2 sets of utensils for a party of 6. The remaining utensils & plates arrived after 2nd request, and after the appetizer arrived. The medium rare 14 oz. Bone-in Ribeye that we ordered, came out charred, burned and dried. It was thin and small. I still feel hungry after eating it and the 2 sides.

   The new Dunston's interior is a major upgrade, with more newly leathered booths. Service was hampered by a 22 person party in the back, so food presentation was a bit slow. However, it was very good Dunston style food. Always a pleasure to visit this timeless, true Texas institution.

   I love Dunston’s. My grilled chicken and baked potato were perfect. The salad bar is always awesome. And the wait staff are the nicest people. It’s nice to know that there is still a place where a real Texan can feel at home. Thank you, Dunston’s!

   This is your classic American Steakhouse. Food was fine and the salad bar was terrific. Steak was cooked properly and my wife liked it very much. I had the quail which I felt was a bit over cooked. Sides were wonderful with the baked potatoes coming with the toppings on the side so you could build your own. Bread with honey cinnamon butter was great. The pricing was very reasonable and very good for the value! Overall, I would recommend Dunston’s if you are looking for a good steak at a fair price.

    We had a great dinner. Wait staff was very courteous and the food was good. We made reservations and were seated immediately. The only thing that was not up to par was the salad bar. Several of the items that I wanted were either gone or there was only a tiny bit in the bottom of the bowls.

    We sat at the section in the back and there was a table of about 7 guys that were very loud and intoxicated. The waitress even thought they were intoxicated and getting louder by the minute she didn’t even mention to them to keep their voices down and she should have stopped their liquor dispense. There was a elderly couple next to our table that had to to yell at them and said “ hey watch your language” they occasionally would use vulgar language and 1 guy at the table grab 1 of their friend shirt and it looked like they were getting ready to fight. The place was very crowded or else we would have moved.

    We’ve been coming for years, and it never disappoints. The steaks aren’t the best in Dallas, but they’re solidly good. The quail is fantastic, so is the old school salad bar. What we really love, and what keeps us coming back, is the back room. It’s dark and cool and feels like somewhere my parents ate. Probably because they did. Service is always good and Ethan behind the bar is always ready to take care of us. Dunston’s is part of the fabric of this city, and we’re happy to wrap that fabric around us and feel the comfort.

    We went early for the Friday night Prime Rib special, and it was great for because I wanted to beat the "crowd", and we were successful. In this time when Covid-19 levels are increasing, I value finding good restaurants where it is possible to avoid the crowds. Also getting that Prime Rib early guarantees a really nice cut of meat, which was cooked to perfection! Great service/food. Thanks!

    Our favorite family-owned steakhouse in Dallas. The retro-style restaurant is perfect for family dining or closing business deals. The steaks are grilled perfectly in the dining room. The all you can eat salad bar is extensive and totally fresh. Servers are dependable, fast, and attentive without being intrusive. It is a favorite among locals for decades so reservations are a must.

    This place is an institution and we always come here. The last few months the quality of food is not good at all. The salmon is always frozen on the inside and charred on outside. Steaks have no flavor and very chewy even at medium. Sides and grave have little taste and seem stale. Hope this is just a small fluke because this is one of our favorite spots.

    Great Value and Flavor. Got to see and say hello to Mr. Dunston - which is always a pleasure. You can always tell the commitment of the staff is much higher when the owner appears in the restaurant. While I am used to seeing Mr. D in the Harry Hines location this is my first time to see him at the Lovers Lane location. Great salad bar at Lovers, wish they would add that at the Harry Hines place.

    The restaurant must not have anticipated such a robust crowd on the eve of July 4. I don't want to blame the waitress, but our wait time was ridiculous. Our appetizer came after we had started the meal (a trip to salad bar). Then, when finished with appetizer (somewhat room temperature for mozzarella sticks) and the salad we waited a good 30 minutes for the meal. My chicken dish was fine, but my companions' steaks were not sizzling; one said it was cold upon arrival. The whole evening was a disaster, and if my friend hadn't flagged down another waitress to request our check, we might still be sitting there. I've been to Dunstan's many times and never was the dinner this bad. I doubt I'll go back again.

    We love going to Dunstan’s because of its 60’s old steakhouse vibe, complete with a trip down memory lane to the salad bar. The steak is reasonably priced and cooked to perfection on a wood burning grill right next to the salad bar. The smoke welcomes and lures you in from the back parking lot. Reservations are encouraged as it was packed when we went at 7:00 on a Friday night.

    Staff are so friendly and steaks are cooked perfectly. The salad bar is great. Real bacon bits, large bread croutons, freshly shredded cheese and all the fixins of a great salad bar. Looking for a fun smokey experience, Dunstons is it!

    Dinner was excellent as always but I ordered the 5 oz filet. It was supposed to be medium. It was done and extremely crisp on the outside. My husband ordered 9 oz medium and it was perfectly cooked. Salad bar and vegetables were perfect.

    We went for our annual Father’s Day dinner. A no-frills classic, Dunston’s is one of our favorites… and the classic salad bar! Cocktails were excellent as well. Adding to our great night, we had exceptional, attentive service from our server, Brooklynn.

    Food is good but not as good a value as it used to be. My steak was a bit dry and we were overcharged for a bottle of house Cab (menu price was $25 and we were charged $30. Ambiance is definitely “1950s old school steakhouse”, which is ok and still has a loyal following. Wish they had a better ventilation system since we always leave with our hair and clothes smelling of smoke! Service is a definite standout here, cordial and professional on every visit.

    Old Highland Park institution. My salmon was excellent but the kids’ steaks were overdone. The ambiance is pure 1970s, which is kind of a kick, but they REALLY need to update their ventilation system. The kitchen grill made the entire restaurant smell like a bonfire.
