For a Saturday night the restaurant was pretty empty. Our waiter was incredibly rude, not helpful, and acted as though we were a burden. Food was mediocre at best. If I hadn't previously made a reservation I would have probably turned around the second we walked into the restaurant and ate elsewhere. Will not return.
Very friendly staff great food our server Carter at CWE was very polite and patient dealing with 5 women
Waitress did get the order wrong but corrected it without an issue. Seemed louder than normal. Disappointed in the new rolls we tried.
The food was pretty good. We ordered shrimp tempura, fried rice, the sushi sashimi combo, crispy role, and steak entree. Everything, but the steak entree was good. The New York Strip steak was basically a lame flank steak, cooked on a flattop, served with white rice and teriyaki sauce. It wasn’t worth the $27 price tag. It wasn’t worth the calories. I also didn’t like that they only had one bathroom. Kinda grimy. Definitely get the shrimp tempura. The shrimp are fat and the dipping sauce was a spicy delicious.
We had a very nice dinner, the service was very good.
Good location and other places to go in town. Very slow time for the night before Valentine’s Day
We enjoyed the evening. Always concerned about sushi that for from the ocean but the fish was fresh and very good. Go here for sushi and you will not be disappointed.
The food was great and the service was amazing. Our server was great and I'd highly recommend people come here for sushi!
We were sat in the back of restaurant near the restroom and a kitchen door, from which emanated very unpleasant sour and musty/moldy smells! The dining room overall seemed dirty and worn out. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The calamari appetizer was tasty, but the Drunken Fish roll seemed to have been made sometime earlier... the fish and roe on top was dry and the insides were discolored. I couldn't finish eating after noticing. The house salad dressing seemed to have no liquid in it - just a blob of pureed carrot. The vegetables side was a strange and bad concoction. The server was nice.
Visiting for parent’s weekend at WashU. Very impressed! Food was beautiful and delicious- loved the twist on traditional sushi. Wonderful restaurant- now a favorite!
A delicious meal in a great and the environment was fun, entertaining and comfortable. The wait-staff were friendly and attentive. I plan to go back soon!
The service was so incredibly slow. We waited over an hour just for drinks and appetizers. We then waited another hour for food and another 30 minutes for our check. All the while, the restaurant was completely empty. Overall the food was fine but they were definitely missing some key items you would typically see at a sushi restaurant.
Always great service every time we go and the food is really good. We love this place.
Poor service and no ambiance. Run down restaurant with no vibe
There was a Male waiter who walked passed us for about 5 minutes and was helping everyone around us and then we saw another employee and asked them to send a waitress to our table. The young lady that came to wait on us from another section was awesome!
We love the Drunken Fish - we have been going there for many years. The sushi is really great - it’s always fresh and we’ll done and we love it. The restaurant is definitely going downhill a bit though. First, there’s a noticeable unpleasant smell when walking in the door and I had a hard time getting past it. Not sure if they need to do a good scrubbing, or if they need to scrub with a clean mop and cloths....
The ladies at the hostess station seemed confused and when we asked to sit downstairs (it can get really loud upstairs), the main hostess seemed annoyed and totally thrown off.
Our server was really good and the speed of service was spot on. The food was great, as always. The environment in the restaurant just needs to be freshened up, in my opinion.
The food was delicious as always. Our server kept telling us that we were not his table and how busy and unorganized the assignments were but that he was going to take care of us. There really is no reason for anyone to tell clients about the issues the servers have.
Marginal. Service was sub par.
The food was not good at all. And extremely overpriced for the quality and presentation. I doubted going there after last time I went there about a year ago (for the same reason), but my 12 years old daughter wanted to go there. Most likely “sucked up” by advertisement and pictures of food and sushi on DF website. But pictures are nothing like you get in reality. Great photoshop! She doesn’t want to go back also.
nice place to eat. love the location. you can sit outside as well. Nice place
Disgusting. Dead fly on one plate and warm sushi on the other. Manager was trash and not helpful. Took way too long to get the food and drinks and they were not busy. Horrible establishment. Never eat here
Our waitress, Stephanie, was absolutely brilliant! She was clearly very busy but made us feel like her only table. The manager, Sean, was very attentive and checked in on us not once, but twice.
The sushi was fantastic (some of the best we’ve had in the area)
We were celebrating our grand daughters birthday.
No acknowledgment
Food was ok, slow service, certainly not the best we have had there. The ratio of cream cheese in the rolls we got was too high and overpowering.
Hosts were not seating people properly so our waiter had tables very far on the outside and our table inside which lead to lack of attention because he had to run back and forth.
Food service was slow so we did not want to wait to have food redone. We have had great experiences in the past, just a not so stellar night this time. Better organization by staff and kitchen could help a great deal.
Restaurant was so empty and the food gave me the reason why. Not great. Not sure how anyone gave this sushi a good review.. We could not tell the difference between their spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Chef had to come out to discern and even he struggled. Restaurant so run down. I would avoid this place.
The booths were sticky and the restaurant didn’t strike me as very clean. We were there closer to closing so maybe that’s why.
Great sushi! Pretty reasonably priced. Sat upstairs and it was super quiet!
We made a reservation for 10:15pm to celebrate my daughters high school graduation. Arriving at 10:08 hungry and tired we we greeted with the statement “sorry but the kitchen is closed. Not sure why they would accept a reservation at 10:15 if the kitchen closes at 10. Meddles to say, it was not a good experience.
Delicious meals- sushi was beautifully prepared and great variety of options (we loved the Drunken Fish roll). Fun drink selection from the bar. Only criticism is the noise level. We were there before crowds (4pm) and it was still very loud due to the cement floors. Other than that, wonderful meal in a cute location.
The rolls were huge and very tasty. I had sashimi, which was fresh and plentiful. The salads were basic sushi restaurant fare, nothing fancy. Pot stickers were good and chicken teriyaki excellent.
The only reason the noise level was loud was because we were seated next to a woman who laughed like a hyena, frequently and loudly. The service was wonderful and the food was great!!
Management and hostess would not allow you to seat where I felt comfortable and made reservation for. then told me if I didn't like it I could leave ? Dylan the bartender was professional, kind and made up for the horrible treatment I received from the manager and hostess regarding a seat I wanted. If it wasn't for the fact it was a late reservation I would have simply left, I had to eat diabetes but then they literally made me go upstairs where I was seated in Dylan area and he made it a more professional visit but management and the hostess treated me like bullies I have never felt so rudely treated in my life. Cider House above the four season will allow you to seat where your comfortable but not the CWE LOCATION OF DRUNKEN FISH
We love sushi and Drunkin Fish is very good. One of my favorite menu item is the Lobster spring roll, so good and the dipping sauce it comes with is amazing. We are usually to full for dessert but we ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake dessert roll this time. OMG words can not describe how good this was!! I highly recommend saving room for dessert.
I have come to this particular location for years. It was my favorite location by far. I arrived 15 minutes early I checked myself in and asked if I could speak with the manager because the server said I couldn't sit outside on the right close to the entrance of the restaurant, The lady that check me in said she was the "General manager " and no, I couldn't sit right outside the door only on the left side outside far from the door because she wasn't ready to seat where I wanted to sit. Now I have met a many of managers at this location over the last 15 years and she buy far was not accommodating at all. Due to her treatment and denying me a seat I felt most comfortable, I will not return until they get a new manager. The downtown location might just be where I'll go for good service and Sushi.
I had birthday on the reservation but this was never acknowledged so we celebrated my daughters b-day elsewhere. Would have mentioned it but was trying to be discreet.
Went there on a Saturday night. My first time eating sushi - waitress was very patient and explained the differences and gave suggestions.
The good food and service was overwhelmed by the lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. The soft searing surfaces had years of stains.
The food was decent but the atmosphere was unappealing. The actual restaurant just needs some TLC. Also It seemed like there were 5 managers standing around and 2 waiters working their tails off.
Great Experience
We loved everything we ordered! Jeremy made awesome suggestions that we really enjoyed. He was super friendly and very attentive. I would definitely ask for him again as he made our experience even more enjoyable.
