   Read good reviews of this hot spot and figured we would check it out before eating upstairs. Was slightly disappointed I wasn't offered the Batman light for my margarita but the drink made up for it. Very intimate atmosphere with attentive staff.

   This is a for real speak easy. Dark, quiet, and cool (in every sense of the word) with fantastic cocktails.

   They were not initially going to accommodate our reservation because they allowed a private party to extend their ending time; however, after we let them know how much we were looking forward to going there, they found a way to make it work. We had a great time and Alexander "the chemist" bartender was awesome! If I'm ever back in San Antonio, I will definitely be back.

   A disappointment. The website did not make it clear that they do not serve dinner. This is only for drinks. The bar is attempting to be a speak easy. We did not stay to eat.

   Downstairs really surprised me! I had hoped to go to Equinox for dinner, but there was a super long wait. So I walked around for a little bit and saw an opening for a reservation at Downstairs. At first, I was a bit disappointed as the menu options are small (charcuterie and oysters and some snacks like olives are all that are offered to eat - the alcohol list - beer, wine, cider is amazing). I had gotten their later for dinner and was thinking I may have to end up getting a burger afterwards. BUT I was pleasantly surprised that the board with only three items had TONS of other things on it - so much so that I was completely full after eating it...I would recommend Downstairs as a great pre-meal or post meal place - you can even go there for a main meal, just know that you will not get lots of different options)

   We booked this for a dinner without knowing that, while they do serve some food, it is primarily a bar. A very cool bar. We ended up having two cheese boards for dinner and loved every bite. Excellent choices for the "cheeses" and the extras were substantial and excellent. The menu of hand crafted drink offerings were very impressive. We have started to recommend Downstairs to everyone who will listen. Not the easiest to find however. Go in the street door or Esquire and take a left towards the restrooms. Door marked with Downstairs is it. Nothing else to let you know. Worth the effort.
