Service was great! Our server was Ryan and he was attentive but didn't hover and answered a multitude of questions from our group. Our meals were also good, but due to ordering & delivery issues a few things were not available. Will go back again for another try.
Great food, delicious drinks and conversation that was out of this world.
Cozy and inviting on the inside. Korean Fried Cauliflower is amazing. Shrimp and grits was a little skimpy on the shrimp (3), but tasty and pretty satisfying nonetheless. Wait staff was polite and attentive.
Best Pork Chop I've ever had. It's great food with a local atmosphere for a neighborhood price.
Really bad service from waiter. Food was underdone except fries which were overdone
Good experience at downhouse. Great waitress and also good food
We made a reservation for a table but decided to sit at the bar since the Astros game was on. There is only 1 tv in the restaurant. Food and service was great. So were the cocktails.
Nice all the way around. Great and efficient service and thoughtful fiod that tastes great. Fairly priced
Took some friends from out of town and we had a great time and great food!
Excellent Heights neighborhood bar vibe with some interesting libations and waaaay above avwrage pub grub. It is a 'gastropub' after all! Casual and good!
I would but ONLY for the Moscow Mule and desert. My appetizer was hood and my dessert was amazing. Unfortunately, the steamed vegetables had a horrible and unidentifiable taste.
I'll try one more time.
food was good, and the service was excellent, Chase did a fine job
We booked via Open Table, but Down House refused to honor the reservation. The hostess claimed that Open Table was booking reservations by mistake that night, and rather than come up with a solution, they offered us no options but to put our name at the end of the list. We went elsewhere as a result.
Awesome food and nice atmosphere. We ate outside of normal hours for what it's worth.
Great food and staff!
We always enjoy Downhouse!! Once again it was a perfect evening. Great menu options, well priced, great ambiance.
Loved it. Waitress was great and made good recommendations. Food was delicious and the vibe was awesome.
Went with friends for a mid-afternoon meal around 3:30pm on a Sunday. It was quiet, good music and great service with even better food and beverages! Not crowded at all since we missed the main lunch rush. We are eagerly anticipating returning for our next meal!
The food was great. We ordered the steak and blue cheese salad and the steak bowl (black beans, salsa, street corn) and a side of fries. Temperature on the steaks were correct. The spicy aoili was just okay. Service was a little slow. We had to flag down another server to get out server to place our order. We had been there nearly 30 minutes at that point. Water needed to be refilled as well.
Great server, nice farm-to-market menu and good drinks. The pastry chef just came from Common Bond, so the dessert was fantastic.
Good food. Happy hour deals are phenomenal. French fries are delicious.
Great food and service!
Great food for all palates. Got caught in the transition between brunch and dinner and had to wait.
Just a really laid-back place. Not too noisy. Food was really, good. Not a lot of items to choose from - but that was fine for us this particular evening. You can tell that what’s on the menu - they do a great job of making sure it’s delicious!
The BEST of what we all had: the cheese platter as an appetizer, chicken and waffles for dinner and the blackberry cobbler was incredible. We had other wonderful things - but these were my favorites.
Definitely visit! We’ll be back soon!
The chicken pot pie barely contained chicken. I counted 4 small cubes. It was all biscuit on top.
The squash blossom appetizer was overly coated as was the fried cauliflower. Definite disappointment. Although the prices are moderate, the value is not there because the food is so poorly made.
Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a few drinks and a light meal!
Very comfortable environment, engaging staff and great food and drinks!
I recommend that you avoid this place. Terrible service. Had 7:15p reservation on a Fri night. Restaurant was not busy. Shown table and given menus and water by a hostess. That was the last help we received. We were not greeted by a waiter, asked about drink orders, or offered anything else. 10 minutes turns into about 15 minutes while we were ignored. It was kind of awkward as other guests were being helped. Went back to hostess stand. Told her I don’t normally complain, but no one has been to our table since you seated us ... could you help us? About 5 minutes later a young lady comes to our general area and says “that’s not my table” and walks away. Still no help. We decide to leave. Stopped at hostess stand one last time and asked to quickly speak to a manager. Hostess said sure, let me get him. About 5 minutes pass, no one arrives, we elected to no longer wait, and just left. Disappointing evening. It’s a shame because the menu and drink offerings look good, but the service was horrific. Went to Harold’s restaurant instead on 19th Street near Ashland. Warmly and promptly greeted. Go there instead.
Highly recommend the salmon dish!!!
Great food! Very cute and secret gem. Food was delicious. Service was great at the hostess stand, staff all around and our waitress was Heather. It is a little dark inside, but great for groups at lunch.
Good food, good prices for the experience, nothing super interesting on the menu but great value.
Favorite breakfast place when in Houston! Try the shrimp and grits with a poached egg or the waffles and fried chicken..Yum!!
It was good but according to the reviews, I thought it would be better. Beautiful place though. Love the atmosphere. Would maybe try again. Server was nice!
Great happy hours drinks. The food is southern home cooking. The Asian shrimp and grits was an unusual and deliciously different
Took the bf for his birthday brunch. Neither he or myself were a fan. Perhaps were in the middle of a staff shift, or it was just really slow and was overlooked. All in all, service was not great and the food was not that much better. We ordered the shrimp and grits just to get something. It was bland. We finished our drinks and left.
Great food and too many choices of beer on tap. Could have made lots of meals off snacks and shares.
Loved the concept and the menu options, including the value-added happy hour!
My experience was pleasant. The breakfast was a southern delight and the frozen sangria was refreshing.
Lunched at Down House at noon. Not crowded, so noise level was low, which pleased me. The waiter was very helpful to us making food selections. Service was excellent. Menu items have changed since I was last there, so will be returning soon to try them out.
This was our first visit to Down House, and if we are ever back in Houston, we will definitely be back to try more menu items. Service and food was excellent. Loved it!
