Double Cut - Steakhouse and Bourbon Bar
The décor is modern, but not pretentious. The ambiance is sophisticated and multisensory, yet comfortable. The staff is educated, but not showy. The uniforms are unique, but classically tasteful.
Like the restaurant itself, the menu departs from a classic steakhouse without chasing away traditionalists. Categories range from classic steaks and chops to seafood – including lobster tail.
We said robust, right? Double Cut literally means so large that your jaw hits the table. Larger portions, tons of ambiance. There’s the dinner bell. Where’s that steak knife?

Everything was great
Wanted to see the resort, so made a restaurant reservation for a Birthday Celebration! Loved everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere- even though a child friendly place we had a great adult night! From martinis, oysters, King crab, prime rib, everything was excellent!!
Great birthday dinner
First time to visit and I have to say it was an awesome experience!!! Food was over the top; great service and music was delightful!!! Would highly recommend!!!
Doug was our waiter ,he was awesome and handled all our needs. Food was delicious and husband enjoyed his birthday tomahawk!
Fantastic menu and high quality food. Glad Round Rock has a good new date night place.
Nice wine list, really nice bourbon/whiskey/tequila selection.
Convenient outside entrance so you don’t need to be a guest of hotel to enjoy the good food at Kalahari. Worth the visit.
We were recommended to go to Double Cut Steakhouse and Bourbon Bar from a friend to celebrate our anniversary. Mid January anywhere is usually empty and quiet. So, it was on par with not many people there on a Tuesday night and kind of quiet. We LOVED the music they played... Sinatra etc... We're not usually big spenders, so we were so glad to find such a nice place to celebrate and come away feeling like a true celebration and not disappointed. Worth every penny. Our steaks were beautifully cooked and tender. Sides were so good and we even had plenty to take home. The drink menu is long and really good! We got the Esquire cocktail and the Knob Hill bourbon and both were excellent. We will definitely go back for any special celebrations.
Upon arriving at 8:45PM dinner at Double Cut we were seated in a waiting area. 3 Hostess came by to ask " are you waiting on a table?"
Once we were seated our server came by 15 minutes later to bring water. Another 10 minutes the bread came. Another 20 he came to take our order, I had to tell him we'd like other drinks than water.
I ordered the 12oz filet with mashed potatoes. 40 minutes later my steak came out, at that time he explained they were out of mashed potatoes. I ordered a replacement, 15 minutes it came out and the steak was cold at this time. I didn't complain, I just wanted to eat and leave. During the entire dinner a group of 6-8 women were so loud and obnoxious- customers began complaining. They were yelling, singing, I heard all of their conversations. It literally reminded me of sitting at Chili's in the middle of happy hour. At the price per meal, I would think the management would not tolerate that kind of activity. After all of the chaos that happened during our meal, no one came to address the issues. I didn't see a manager in the place. However they promptly brought out the ridiculous bill. I often enjoy Bob's or Perry's Steakhouse in Austin, which Double Cut was compared to. That's an insult to both of those Austin restaurants. The only comparison is the price. I will not be going back to this restaurant and I will advise my local friends to avoid it as well.
Kalahari, your resort is amazing and we love it, however I would take a serious look into the Steakhouse. I'd investigate management or lack there of. I am a local business owner, I would love to use your facility for conventions and meetings in the near future. Double Cut will not be on our list, very again.
Kalahari would have easily received a 5 star rating from me, if I had not visited Double Cut Steakhouse.
Thank You.
We were celebrating two birthdays, I made a reservation for eight people but when we got there they had the reservation down for two even though on OpenTable I showed that it was for eight people so we ended up having to wait longer. We ordered 2 of 30 day aged steaks medium rare and both were way over cooked to the point of almost well done. Our server was very nice and responsive however I was disappointed in your hostess and the big mixup with the reservation. The hostess was not very accommodating and since the error was on the restaurant part not my part in making the reservation because again I show my reservation for eight people and that we were celebrating two birthdays it was disappointing.
Great experience. We will hopefully get to go again. Daniel was a wonderful server.
Food overpriced, waited 45 min for drinks, found hair in food and manager basically acted like things like this happen, would not go back
There was not enough light, and the food was over priced for the quality that came out. Ordered a steak that was suppose to be a 30 day aged ribeye cooked med rare and what I got was a badly charred steak with no flavor and mainly fat. Nothing in the meal was hot or warm, everything came cold. Service was slow.
Everything was great! Definitely will be going back
I'm an avid dinner with extensive wine, spirits, and culinary knowledge and was a bit unsure about dining here due to the wide range of reviews but I don't trust reviews either! Our experience was pleasant from start to finish. Our cocktails were crafted well and the menu description are accurate. The Hanging Bacon and Crab Cake apps hit the mark. I'm super critical of crab cakes since I am from Maryland which did not fall short. Best ones I've had out of Maryland. The filet was seasoned well with a perfect char while my NY strip was equally flavorful and temps were spot on. Our server was new (3 weeks) but was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The atmosphere was of course elegant and classy with a nice warm and inviting feel! The wine and bourbon selections are balanced for the beginner to the novice. Bonus points because it's 2 miles from my home to Kalahari!! I recommend Double Cut and will definitely return!
The crab cakes were the highlight of the meal.
Godfrey, our waiter, provided exceptional service!
Really enjoyed the experience. Food was great. Will come back.
I think our waiter was tried is what not good. He never came around an a little sassy when he did. He was an older man an just seemed like he didn't want to work
We ordered the Tomahawk. Was disappointed with the amount of meat the steak yielded. It was disappointing that we had a $300 tab and left still hungry and also shocking that the star of the night was the Avocado and Tuna Tartare...the steak came out Luke warm and for advertising that it’s cooked at 1200 degrees, that should not have happened.
Food was amazing!! Server was awesome! Love the hanging bacon, bread, creamed corn, steak and the s’mores dessert!! Will definitely go back!!
Amazing dinner .. Amazing service .. special way to spend our anniversary..
Prosecco at table as requested. Service efficient and professional( G odrey was excellent) Lighting could be better. Was quite dark and I had difficulty reading the menu. Maybe a candle on the table would help- and make it a little more romantic.
Service was terrible. We waited for ever for a drink order, then waited for ever for our drinks to arrive. We had to wait forever for the server to come back around to take our food order. When bringing waters to the table the server spilled half the tray of water on one of my friends. Hardly said sorry, and never brought the rest of the table their waters. The manager never came by to apologize or say anything.
When our food finally came, it was the best part of the whole experience. The food was actually pretty good. But, no body from the restaurant would have known that because once we got our food, we never saw our waitress again. We couldn’t order more drinks, get our water refilled. Nothing.
It was my wife’s birthday, I told the hostess when we arrived. I also told the server. While we sat with empty plates waiting for hopefully my wife Bday cake (but if they forgot wouldn’t have have been a surprise) or just the bill would have been fine. I had to get up and go find a server and ask if they were bringing a cake, or the bill, or what. The server said they were getting ready to bring out the cake. 15 mins they finally brought it. My mother in law got up to go ask the manager where the cake was and his response was, well it’s there now.
We had about a $650 dollar bill. First time I left nothing for a tip. Terrible customer service. And the way the manager acted, I can see why.
We enjoyed the live music and the food was great.
Made me walk 1/4 mile from parking lot in the rain and cold. I’ll frequent those who make the customer first even during current climate. They are obviously not prepared to serve local clientele. Better stick to the out of towners. These locals won’t be back.
I was a bit disgruntled when the hostess sat all of us at a booth with zero view. They knew that this was a special occasion (our anniversary), and no acknowledgement for this. . The place had one family seated in the center of the rest. and they sat us within arms reach of them, and it was a table full of teens, and 2 adults. Hello- Covid distance! The availability of other tables was wide open. We couldn't see the pianist, or the windows, so I was disappointed. Then this loud crowd of 5 comes in, talking at the top of their voices, and they seat them right next to us!n OMG- this was a f-ing joke. For a high end steak house, I would have expected the waiter to say something, or notice our uneasiness each time the yelling and shouting started. All-in-all, good food which was over priced, bad environment, average waiter (really nothing special) and definitely not above and beyond for a supposedly classy steakhouse. We spent the money on their bourbon drinks, and 3 steak dinners, and a lobster dinner ($400+) and I would not recommend going again. People that are looking to go, should know that the waterpark people, are dining in the steak house, which I should have realized, and are not classy for the environment. For the business, they should demarcate that the environment is not for children. That might help market the place better.
Bib’s was an awesome server. Good guy! He kept bringing us more of that awesome sourdough bread! Steaks were cooked perfectly and enjoyed our adult meal while kids enjoyed their burger and pasta!
I really enjoyed Double Cut. I went there for my birthday dinner and wasn't sure what to expect as I've dined at many "fine" steakhouses in downtown Austin and Las Vegas. It's not quite on par with other fine dining steakhouses, but I will say that it was more than acceptable and a pleasurable experience for being out in Round Rock.
The service was good (but not as good as you would expect at Perry's or Driskill). The food was actually better than I expected it would be. We ordered tuna tartare which was a large plate and very tasty.
I ordered a filet minon (medium rare) and it came just as I expected and the quality of the meat and flavor was very good. We ordered 3 family style sides (garlic mashed potatoes, mushroom, and creamed spinach). They were all very good. My least favorite was the creamed spinach. Acceptable, but I've had better.
I had 2 margaritas which were great. And for dessert I had the creme brulee which was large and very good.
So overall it actually exceeded my expectations. Because to be honest, I was like how good can a nice steakhouse at a hotel in Round Rock Texas be? Since I'm a Round Rock local I will definitely be going back. This will save me the time of having to drive to Austin for a nicer steakhouse dining experience.
We had a great time, delicious food. Wait staff was on point.
We stayed at Kalahari
Great food and service! Would recommend and will return.
Great place to eat a good steak. I did request medium well and received my steak rare. I guess that is pretty typical though. We did order the sides for two. There was enough to feed a family of four! Everything was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive. The wine list was good with a great selection of fine wines.
Muy rico! El servicio muy bueno y la calidad de los alimentos muy buena’
OMG!!! Double Cut ROCKS!!! The food was amazing. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. The hostess that seated us was very friendly and personable. Our server Mercedes was GREAT!!! And the FOOD....DELISH!!! I’m super excited about our experience and cannot wait to go back to try different dishes from the menu.
Best steak hands down - I like my steak well done and it came out tender and juicy
Good ambience and good portions, but the poor service from the waitstaff made us feel cheated out of an elegant affair (for the high price paid)
Anthony provided a great service. He was attentive to all our needs.
Very good food and service.
We will definitely be back.
Food took over an hour to come out. When we attempted to complain to the manger, he told us there was nothing he could do and left it at that.
Great experience! Great service! They really make sure you leave the place happy!
