Double Cut - Steakhouse and Bourbon Bar

Steakhouse
When you claim that you’re adding a signature steakhouse experience, every detail has to be considered to transform you from the stresses of business and life.

The décor is modern, but not pretentious. The ambiance is sophisticated and multisensory, yet comfortable. The staff is educated, but not showy. The uniforms are unique, but classically tasteful.

Like the restaurant itself, the menu departs from a classic steakhouse without chasing away traditionalists. Categories range from classic steaks and chops to seafood – including lobster tail.

We said robust, right? Double Cut literally means so large that your jaw hits the table. Larger portions, tons of ambiance. There’s the dinner bell. Where’s that steak knife?

The experience was robotic… the waiter did same rhetoric at each table. Menu super confusing and totally more expensive than warranted. The service was slow and contrived … food good flavors good. Our dinner took over three hours of which 30-45 min was check out. Waiter was awful and patronizing.

The handcrafted cocktails were amazing. I loved the Maraschino Manhattan. The oysters were great! Maybe serve it with a tea spoon instead of a fork? Works better with the sauce. The filet mignon was tender and juicy with a nice crust. Your piano player is incredibly talented! And he wasn’t too load so a conversation was still possible without any issues. The chocolate cake was a bomb!

Although we had an 8:45 reservation, our table wasn’t ready so we waited maybe 10 minutes more, no biggie. From where we sat, we didn’t get to enjoy the live music from the back room. The waiter was a nice young man, but the wait for even just drinks was really long. We only had one option as far as what we paid: $150 per adult for a 4 course meal, which wasn’t very clear when I made the reservation and looked at the menu, but it was New Years so I decided to treat my family this one time. By the end of a 2 hour wait, we received the appetizer and our soup/salad. I didn’t care for either, but 2 others in my party enjoyed them. At a little after 11pm, we requested to have the remaining food packed so we could get home by midnight. A manager explained that they were really busy and offered all of us to come back and have a retake on the house. I’m hoping that changes my mind about this particular restaurant. Overall I’m so embarrassed about this experience because I wanted to impress my party by taking them to have a really classy night out and the fact that they were uncomfortable with the price to begin with (even though it was my treat), AND how incredibly unworth the price we paid for an experience we could’ve gotten better and cheaper at Longhorns Steakhouse or even IHOP for that matter, makes me regret my decision to visit this restaurant.

Food was excellent! Service was excellent. It's pricey. That's my only complaint. We were told for NYE their regular menu would be available and of course we were misinformed. To be honest the entire resort is a money trap and over-priced. We have been to Kalahari a few times and this will most definitely be our last time.

When we were searching for something to do on NYE we stumbled upon Double Cut @ Kalahari & a glow party afterwards. There were 4 of us and we are all local. We had reservations at 7:45 and were promptly seated within minutes of check in. We were ushered to a 4 top table in the back extra room with about 20 or so other tables..full of families and their kids. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue but for this special occasion & it being our anniversary, we were expecting a finer dining experience not an Olive Garden one. We informed The hostess about the need for a change so the manager came to reseat us at a large booth. Much better!
The ambience could use a noise buffer as the echoing in there is really loud when there are so many people.
It was a Prix fixe dinner at $150/pp so we did go in with high expectations.
The appetizers were okay. The hanging bacon was my favorite but was cold. The bread is delicious, no complaints there. The drinks are pricy as well, so just know that before you get sticker shock as there’s no wine prices on the menu.
I had the filet, husband had the sea bass. The other couple had the filet as well except one added a lobster tail. The steak taste was good only mine was medium rare & I ordered medium. Small portions.
All in all, our experience wasn’t ruined per se but we certainly didn’t leave feeling we got our money’s worth. There was also auto gratuity for 4! Not cool considering we weren’t pleased with the accuracy/efficiency of service. There’s room for improvement here..

The New Years Eve dinner menu was very disappointing. A modified menu with $150 per person requirement is pretty ridiculous. I have an 8 year old and the only thing he really liked on the menu was the salad and chocolate cake. I absolutely regret staying and paying that crazy bill that had and 18% gratuity automatically added, smh. Overall, not a good experience... not this time.

Very slow, poor service; Rib-eye Steaks we’re over priced and not cooked correctly. They did re-cook after waiting 20 minutes for someone to visit our table. Broccoli was cold, truffle fry’s were cold, bread was awesome! Cabernet was good; would have purchased a second glass if someone would have visited our table. Ask for a pitcher of water when you sit down if you ever want another glass. Over priced for atmosphere; high-end but folks wearing tank tops, sweats, very loud, would never eat there again. Just me and my daughter, 200.00 with small tip as again the service was terrible.

Hi guys. We have 13 of us and we are spending thousands to be here for 4 days. I know you want to entice outside people to come in to eat as well but you’ve got to make eating out as a family not a situation where people can’t even choose your restaurant as an option. There are many who can not. You guys as a resort would be very smart to have a breakfast lunch and dinner buffet that is completely affordable for people. Thank you Dana Young

This is more than a restaurant; it's an experience. The menu prices are not what I would call "cheap", but the value for the money is there. Pro tip: Go for the Meat and Three Sides deal. Not quite sure where the Meat comes in (maybe if you order a protein, I think), but you get three easily shareable sides. Also, if you like good bourbon, the Cherry Smoked Old Fashioned cannot be beat. Again, pricier than most cocktails, but it's a double pour, so the value is there as well. Plus, it will take a little time to sip. Some experiences should never be rushed.

We went later in the day hoping it would be less crowded but also realizing the staff would be worn out.
The staff was wonderful. Very helpful and right on with our orders. Kyle was extremely knowledgeable with our wines and food.
The only problem we found and we do understand, people walking through in pajama and swimming suits. We realize it is all inclusive but, when you go to a fine dining restaurant and spend well over $100.00 per person. It does bring your evening down a bit.

I was a little disappointed from my experience. I had high expectations since it's a steakhouse inside a beautiful hotel. You don't dine often at these places and only do so on special occasions. Plus, you are paying a lot of money for the experience, service, ambience, and overall experience.
First of all, we had a reservation 7pm and didn't get seated until 7:20pm. Might as well just do a walk-in if you will be waiting that long.
Our waiter was excellent, it was our first time dining at this restaurant so it was nice that he walked us through the menu. He was very attentive and friendly.
We ordered the Tomahawk steak for our Christmas dinner. We ordered it medium (per our mother's request) and the steak came out rare. They had the steak pre-cut for us and i'm surprised they didn't catch that the meat was undercooked. It was cooked unevenly and 80% of the meat was rare. Of course, I had to ask them to re-fire it for us. The quality and taste was superb after it was cooked right.
I also had issues about the restroom not having tissue paper inside the stall, again, if you are paying for the overall experience, this small part shouldn't be overlooked. The trash bin was overflowing and had paper towels all over the floor.

Been wanting to try DC for awhile. For the price, the ambiance was like sitting in an IHop with Alcohol. The food presentation was nice, but disappointed that much was overly salty. Could have enjoyed a steak from Texas Road House or the like with better tasting sides and way less expensive.

We had a party of 10 for my mothers birthday. We called 4 days in a row to speak to someone about the details. No one ever called me back. I finally booked on open table. I worked too hard for the reservation. The food was a C and the service was a C. I will not go back. I could have gone to a top notch and reputable steakhouse like Perry’s for the same price. Disappointing.

Had to send my steak back the first time. I ordered medium and it came out medium well. At a steak place of this caliber you want your steak to be cooked perfectly especially for the cost. However, the manager did act quickly and had the kitchen re-cook my steak. Otherwise the food was very good! Based on overall experience I wouldn't say I was blown away by the ambience and whole experience- I think there is an issue when it comes to having very small children dining with others who are there for special occasions and paying almost $300 for a meal- screaming and crying were an issue with children there with other parties. However, it is hard to fault the restaurant for this. People should be more considerate and recognize that this is supposed to be an adult venue- especially at 8:30 on a Saturday night.
