Food was exceptional!
Smoking is allowed even cigars outside area. Over 45 min to find a bottle of wine then it was wrong. Scallops not seared. Not all of the shortened menu items available. Requested water 3 times. Spoke to manager as leaving it is apparent where the who cares attitude comes from
Amazing and attentive service from our server Brenda! Highly recommend this place. Great ambiance and food. Perfect setting for a quiet dinner even though we weren’t quiet and they were still so sweet to us! Loved, will be back for sure! We are from Austin and it made San Antonio worth the stay.
We had a wonderful dinner!
Very good food with GREAT service ! Start with a glass of Mabec and finish with a unique desert.
My server was amazing. I wish I could remember the young lady’s name. She was excellent. The gaucho stew was delicious. The homemade bread was a tasty surprise. The NY strip was a bit of a disappointment. It was cooked medium rare the way I ordered it, but it was still too chewy. The grilled fennel was overcooked and impossible to eat. The polenta didn’t have much flavor. In the kitchen’s defense, a lot of people showed up without reservations. A waiter at another restaurant told me that as more things are opening and more people are going out some places remain under staffed. Also, I was given amazing crepes as my free birthday dessert. It was a very pleasant experience.
Dorrego’s was one of the best restaurants I’ve dined at. I’ve been at restaurants where my meal was $200. And Dorrego’s was by far the best place I’ve eaten!! Wonderful welcome, wonderful waitress, wonderful food. Dining here was a pleasure!
I was in town with my 11 year old daughter for her birthday trip. The service was friendly, efficient and gracious. The waiter paired my dinner with a glass of wine that was perfect. The tables were socially distanced per the current guidelines. The bread, ravioli and chocolate pots are not to be missed
Beautiful hotel with great food that is not super expensive. Our server was very attentive and the ambience was very quiet and relaxing.
Ravioli was served like warm, chewy ribeye for $50? Sweet potatoes were under cooked. The only saving grace was our server Briana, she was so nice and energetic.
A group of four of us went during Culinaria’s restaurant week\month. $45 for 3 courses was a great value! Food and service was great! Nice little gem in downtown. Will definitely come back.
Delicious food, great location and excellent service overall.
This was our first visit to Dorrego’s, we went to experience the culinaria menu. The hotel and restaurant are decorated beautifully and the live music playing was a wonderful addition that created a warm and inviting mood. The food was amazing, all three courses were so flavorful and great portions. The empanadas were savory with a perfect pastry crust. We had a New York strip that was cooked perfectly and the sweet potatoes and broccoli on the side were just as flavorful as the steak. We tried all three desserts offered on the culinaria menu and each one was amazing but very different from the other but the crepes were our favorite. I believe our server was Briana and she was so attentive and her recommendations were all spot on. We enjoyed our experience so much we are planning a stay at the hotel.
Amazing service! Both the hostess and waiter were phenomenal. Just not sure if the serving sizes are worth the prices.
The food was excellent, and the waiter was attentive. A great choice for Culinaria month. Precautions were taken for social distancing, and the number of diners was limited. A very enjoyable evening!
Went here for my 6th year anniversary and it is a must go to! I have never had Argentinian food before, and if you haven't either, this would be the place to go. We walked in and were greeted in every form possible to include complimentary wine, and were able to lounge in a beautifully furnished lobby. Once seated Brianna (our server) was the absolute BEST, she made sure everything was squared away for us and was very knowledgeable of all the questions asked (since I was not familiar with the cuisine). Each dish of the three course meal was fantastic and would definitely recommend the oxtail ravioli. We appreciate Brianna and the staff there at Dorrego's. Will definitely go back.
we had a bright energetic waiter named Briana. the steak was to die for. very tasty!
We enjoyed our meal very much. Very good food and excellent service
The food here was complex, different, and unlike anything I’ve ever tried from any of my travels across the globe. I have never wanted to compliment the staff in person before, but last night I had to because the experience was so excellent. Every dish was executed perfectly, and the chef knows how to combine texture and flavor in order to satisfy any palate. The service and environment was also great for a romantic night on the river walk. Amazing.
Excellent Argentinian food. The steaks are very well prepared and cooked to order. The empanadas are delicious. I will definitely go back!
Thank you Jacob, Shelly, and Chef Brian for a wonderful evening of fine dining. Food was superb and one of the best restaurant we have dined in, in Texas. We will definitely come back.
Took my parents to have something different and the meal was incredible. The steaks were on point and the side sauces that came with them was a great touch. You can choose to have your steak 5 different ways each bite. The service was great as well. We were taken care of by Brianna who explained everything to the T. Will definitely be back!!!
Dined Thursday night at the beautiful Hotel Valencia Riverwalk's Argentinean-inspired restaurant, Dorrego's. It was my first time to dine out in months. The meal and the service were both beyond first class! The salad with chimichurri dressing was amazing. The NY Strip was cooked to perfection. The polenta was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Everything was amazing. And the staff went out of its way to make the experience both safe AND enjoyable. I simply can't recommend it more highly!
Enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Dorrego's in Hotel Valencia Riverwalk last evening! My dining companion and I enjoyed an excellent Malbec wine (to keep with the Argentinean theme) and our salads were terrific. She had the Salad de la Casa with the Chimichurri dressing and I had the Caesar. We split an order of the Sorrentinos, which are house-made raviolis with smoke-braised oxtail, beef cheek and burrata cheese in a rustic tomato sauce. We both had the NY Strip Steaks. They were excellent, as were the sides of smoked gouda and bacon polenta, and grilled fennel!! Yum! The showstopper was the "flight" of dipping sauces for the steak! All steaks at Dorrego's are served with a flight of demi-glace, blue cheese, red pesto and sweet and spicy garlic sauces. They took the meal over the top! Also, the service we had was exceptional. Everything was handled perfectly with regard to taking ALL (and then some) COVID-19 precautions. All in all, a great experience!
We had a reservation at a different restaurant and after eating here the day before we canceled our previous reservation and returned to Dorrego’s. The service is amazing there. Again the rib eye is amazing.
Great place to eat. Great atmosphere great drinks , service and food the rib eye was amazing
The restaurant had a nice ambience and was quiet and not disruptive to each table. The food was amazing and the rib-eye was to die for as well as the desert. Everything was amazing and absolutely delicious!
Waitress was excellent very helpful we had an awesome experience food was excellent well prepared n very good
The food is amazing! I had gastric bypass 10 years ago. I have always hated going out to eat since because I usually have to get soup, salad or appetizer due to portion size. I didn’t have to at Dorrego’s! They actually tailored my entree and discounted the price for my needing more of a kids portion. The food was hot, flavor packed and so yummy! The ambiance was quiet and relaxed. The kids had dessert and I took a bite of each. Omg, the flavors and richness will make you melt out of your chair. Please go and try the chicken, the beef tenderloin, white chocolate ice cream with lemon curd and berries, chocolate pot de creme, dulce de Lexus crepes. My 13 year old is still raving about the roasted sweet potatoes. Mmmm
It was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere, especially the theme! The Argentinian menu was just stellar, and I appreciated how respectful and kind the staff were! The steak I ordered was wonderful, and was cooked perfectly. I would recommend it to anyone who loves food and wine!
I loved this restaurant. Great atmosphere, customer service was excellent. I had the risotto and it was perfectly cooked. I was a little disappointed in my drink. I was expecting something else. Nevertheless it was good.
The elevator was terribly dirty from the RiverWalk. Our waiter ignored us. The food was fair. Terrible experience. Will never go back.
Very disappointing experience. Two of our diners had the chicken and sausage dish. The half of chicken was the smallest ever, dry and tough, and totally lacking in flavor. The sausage was dry as well. The fried potatoes were the best part of the meal. The shrimp and pea risotto was mushy. Don't waste your money when there are better options on the street.
Food tasted amazing, especially the empanadas! Our server Brianna was TOP-NOTCH; so friendly and attentive!
Service and wine were excellent. The food was mostly dry and tasteless. We were looking for a quick bite before a show and the 1 1/2 hour was sufficient.
We went to Dorrega’s for lunch. Much to our surprise it was in a hotel but the hotel looked lovely and the restaurant was delicious!!! The best part of our whole meal was our waitress Eileen. We were celebrating our daughters birthday and she made it so special. At the end, she herself brought a dessert which she said was not from the restaurant but from her personally. How special!!! She worked with food allergies and all the questions we had! She was delightful! Highly recommend!
Food delivery timing was poor, the Pork Chop tasted like mess hall food.
Excellent meal, worth another trip to San Antonio.
Got there at 10:50 and no breakfast options on a Sunday. Proceeded to order empanadas. About 5-10 min later was told they were out but they had cheese and corn ones left. Then when the rest of the parties food came out was told they were out of those too. Ordered something which was simple but it meant I was eating alone while everyone else waited for me.
The website make the appearance that this is a chic Argentine restaurant with an upscale ambiance. I was expecting something more akin to Bohanan’s, which is just down the street, but instead we found Dorrego’s to be a loud, mediocre hotel restaurant filled with loud tourists wearing everything from cargo shorts and t-shirts to off the rack jackets and jeans. The only thing “chic” about this place was the prices. Our served Madison was ver friendly, and apologized several times about the noise level from two very large groups. Instead of ordering the overpriced meals, we opted for a glass of wine and a few of the appetizers. The wine was maybe a 6/10, but the amount of wine that was poured for $12 a glass was maybe 6 oz, and far less than one would expect for the price and quality. The empanadas were tasty, and the chimichurri was about a 7/10. Not the best I’ve had, but also not bad. In all, I spent $50 for appetizers and two glasses of wine, and left to eat dinner in a more place more fitting for a quiet date down the street.
