Don's Pomeroy House
Top shelf in every way ... a true hidden gem in north-central Ohio. We stopped in after a Browns game, opted for the Pub, and enjoyed a terrific meal. Two of us had surf & turf, and one had the Beyond burger. Presentations were solid, food was served hot, making for a perfect capper to the day, even though the Browns lost.
Whenever you go to Don's Pomeroy House you can always expect a very good dinner and service
Fantastic food, service, and experience. I thought price was appropriate too! Great for a date night or small business meeting. The inside is beautiful and the food is of a high quality and cooked to perfection. They do a very good job of matching complimentary flavors on each plate they serve. Highly recommend the scallops with lobster mashed potato in a lobster bisque gravy!
My wife and I went to Don's for our anniversary. The room was warm and comfortable. The food was fantastic. We got the crab cake appetizer and my said that the relish on the crab cake may be the best thing she ever ate. For dinner I got the serf and turf. Both the filet and the lobster tail were cooked perfect and the green beans had great flavor. My wife's NY strip was also cooked perfect. At the end of dinner we were given a tasty giant eclair on the house for our anniversary. The prices I felt were very fair for the quality of the food. I would highly recommend Don's, and we plan to return often.
Fantastic food and service!! It was the perfect place for our 40th wedding anniversary! We had the private room upstairs where it was quiet and intimate. We enjoyed every minute of it!
Dinner at the Pomeroy House is always a great experience of outstanding food, attentive service and great ambiance.
Always enjoy eating at Don's Pomeroy House. We all had the Lobster New England Bake. Great deal for the price. Our server was excellent and always enjoy the atmosphere.
The filet was great and the chicken that came with the clambake was amazing.
Loved everything and special occasion treatment was wonderful!
Excellent food and service. Unfortunately, I did not care for the main course I ordered and our server immediately had another course prepared for me. The management also came over and apologized (it was not their fault at all....I just didn't like the dish) and gave us a free dessert. They went above and beyond to please us. Will definitely visit again.
Great food and service. A nice complimentary dessert for a special birthday dinner.
Great food and service! We had a private table in a corner. Super evening overall! The price was a little high, however!
Awesome Birthday Eclaire! Great historic site. Definitely a nice place for a drink, dinner celebration.
Food was very salty.
We waited for a long time before we got the appetizers
Wife's meal was very good. I had the $49 surf and turf. Lobster was good but the filet was like eating shoe leather. Very chewy.
While this is a beautiful location, from the decor to the history, it is not worth the money. We had reservations for our anniversary, and ended up waiting an extra 30-45 minutes just to be put in a back corner table where you are constantly bombarded with servers setting their trays in front of the table. Made conversations difficult to have and took the romance from our evening. I will give credit to our server- kind, courteous, and attentive. The food was just OK, not worth the money at all. Do yourself a favor, go the extra 20 minutes closer to Cleveland for a better dining experience.
Main dining room area is elegant, cozy, and inviting.
Pomeroy salad and seafood pasta were delicious. Pesto in seafood pasta may be a bit overpowering as there were not enough pasta to balance out the flavor, but still tasty.
Brought a friend to celebrate 80th birthday, and a complimentary eclair was a nice surprise.
Overstayed our welcome though as dining manager (he was not too friendly) came by to remind us there was an upcoming reservation for our table. That kind of dampen our whole dining experience.
We celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday, and it was a perfect night for all! The food was amazing, and our waiter was fantastic. Our kids enjoyed great meals too. I highly recommend!
As always an excellent dining experience! The food was amazing and staff friendly and accommodating.
Great food as usual. Tammy was a fantastic waitress. Looking forward to going back soon!
Food was exceptional. Value for money was good. Service definitely lacked.
A Saturday evening dinner for three. Two had the Champagne Surf & Turf with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. The lobster was absolutely perfectly cooked and flavorful - a true delight. One's medium rare filet was perfect, the other's medium was more on the medium well side but still enjoyable. The third had the large filet medium and it was perfect accompanied by green beans (al dente) and mashed potatoes. We were seated in the small room with five tables and windows to view the lovely evening light. Service was polished, knowledgeable and non-intrusive. We enjoy Don's Pomeroy House every time and love the opportunity to share it with family and visitors, knowing it will be a treat for us all.
Celebrating a friend’s birthday
Service was noticeably slow. Not sure if this was due to server working multiple areas but other tables near us were served by other servers more efficiently.
Amazing food great place to enjoy and celebrate any occasion
Absolutely fantastic- everything. I had the shrimp scampi with the filet. It was a special, and boy was it SPECIAL. Can’t wait to go back. We want to try the more casual pub sometime soon too. It looks cozy down there.
Excellent evening. My hats off to the friendly folks there and to the talented chef!!! Yum yum!!!!
Pierogis were dryer than wall paper paste. BBQ was spicier than habanero's. $62.00 for lunch for food that was uneatable
Ahi tuna entree was the worst ever!
Served raw , not seared
Absolutely no taste!
Waiter graciously took it off the bill. Much appreciated
Amazing as usual. The sea bass was cooked to perfection!
Was on a first date and the food was not very good. Especially for the prices. I had surf and turf. The fillet was dry, tough and very poorly seasoned. No flavor. The lobster tail was a little over cooked and rubbery. I also ordered Brussel sprouts, clam chowder and ahi tuna. The Brussel sprouts were dry and lacked flavor and the chowder had some sort of odd seasoning/ flavor to it. The ONLY thing that was ok was the Ahi Tuna.
We've never had such bad service at a nice restaurant. Not sure if they were understaffed or something else. I don't think it was the kitchen because other tables handled by other servers got their food much more quickly. It took 20 minutes just to get a drink. Completely inexcusably bad service. The table next to us waited over 2 hours to get food. Our wait for food was probably over an hour. Will not recommend and would never consider going back.
Our party arrived at 6PM . By 8PM we did not have our food. The waitress never checked for our beverage reorders. When a beer was served it was warm. A martini was ordered with dirty ice. The waitress did not know what dirty ice was so brought the martini with no ice. On the positive side the restaurant was beautiful and our seating was absolutely great. Our waitress apologized for her service but said they were short staffed
Went for lunch and lots of choices. The sandwiches were great
My favorite restaurant in the area! Our server was very attentive and professional. Food was delicious. My only comment was the very small amount of buere blanc sauce with Florida grouper and bland fingerling potatoes (maybe less fingerlings and add a small side of *spicy* corn succotash or?). I did not ask our server for more sauce, so no criticism of service, but a tad more would be we welcome. Overall, an outstanding experience!
The 2 Cabo Texas steaks we ordered were supposed to be cooked medium. We never like our steaks cooked well or even medium-well, but these arrived medium well and quite dry. Not wanting to embarrass our guests, we declined to send them back. Next time we will go to long horn for a decent steak.
As always, the service and the food was excellent. It is always a truly wonderful experience in all respects dining here.
My wife’s 63rd birthday. Fantastic dinner and service!
The service was excellent and we enjoyed the room. Unfortunately 3 dinners ordered had very over cooked dishes that made the chops too tough to eat. The other party dinners were excellent including mine. I sampled one if the chops, preferred rare, and it was indeed cooked to toughness. The server took the affected meals off the tab and gave the table a dessert (eclair - delicious). We had high expectations and were disappointed as a party.
It’s so nice to discover a unique, classy, comfortable restaurant with great food and service. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.
