This review comes too late - we ate on the last night Dolphin Seafood was in business. They're closed now (forever).
The chowder was great value and flavor. They do generous pours of wine and have a great selection as well.
Sadly, this will be our last time dining at the Dolphin as they are closing and reinventing themselves. The fried fish platter was plentiful and lightly fried (not greasy) and the seafood and pasta was equally delicious. Requested Diavlo sauce which added a kick and was very good. Service was great as it always has been.
Looking forward to the next iteration..
Just an evening out with my spouse for dinner
The grilled swordfish was delicious and a very generous portion. The fried fisherman’s seafood platter was also very good. Clam chowder is always a great appetizer. Service was very good.
Maybe it's COVID, or maybe it's the way it is, but the service was definitely sub-standard. Any questions regarding substitutions or special dietary needs we asked were greeted with a rather abrupt "NO!" as the response, including a complete lack of understanding or support for gluten-free diets. If you're gluten-free, I would suggest avoiding Dophin. While the restaurant was sparsely attended, the service was slow and decidedly unhelpful. At the end of the meal, we were told to "Get out" as they needed to clean up so they could go home. Yikes. The food itself was "OK", but priced well above the quality and presentation. Overall, a disappointing, expensive meal.
Excellent lunch with my sisters! The service was impeccable and the food perfect, as always). I have never been disappointed at the Dolphin.
Service really defined this experience and it wasn’t poor but it wasn’t great. Only one waiter working the entire dining room so he spent very little at every table and it took tracking him down to have anything provided. Our food had definitely been sitting under the warming lamps for too long and had dried out.
Living in the Boston area I know that we have the best seafood probably in the world. However the swordfish presented to me at the Dolphin was pitiful. Dry, dry, and no flavor. And almost on the cold side. I will not go back there. It's too bad, they are in a great location in downtown Natick.
Oyster were great! Erin our server was too! Prompt with service and drinks for two. Had us feeling right at home as if she knew, just how we like it: fresh and blue (Blue Points that is). We’d take her home, but that just would not do. Management told us she is a valuable member of the crew, of which we certainly already knew.
outstanding food. best quality and value in Metro West Boston
Great food at a reasonable price. Always our 'go to' prior to a show at TCAN. Never disappoints.
This is was the second time I done at Dolphin, and decided to bring my family after a pleasant first experience. Unfortunately, my experience was far from good compared to the first time. Quality of food was moderate at best, and definitely not worth the $365 that I had to pay. I ordered the lobster clam bake with 1.5lbs lobster. What I got was a 1lb lobster at best, the clams/muscles were drenched in sand, and they tasted and smelled super gamy. My parents ordered the steak tips, and I asked the server if they’re marinated in the bourbon sauce or if it’s a glaze that is spread on them after they’re cooked and he said marinate. What we got was steak tips smothered in bourbon glaze that was too sweet to taste and ruined the tips. Our Server was very nice, I’m just not sure if we’ll go there again.
Fast service good fresh food (and drinks) nice place for dinner.
Wonderful meal. Great service and portions
the appetizer was very good, however both of our main courses were not seasoned nor cooked properly, very bland meal. The waitress was excellent
The seafood special was pretty good. The chocolate mousse was outstanding, much better than the cheesecake (TBF: I make cheesecake for occasions, so I have very high standards). The staff was great, despite being as busy as they were.
Crab cake appetizer, Sole Pedro and Lobster Roll were terrific. Waiter was great.
Had a delicious meal. I had scallops, my wife had swordfish she raved about. Our friends had the fisherman’s platter and fried clams. We all took half our meals home. We were very happy and loved our meals. Thank you.'
The service was slow and the food was just meh. I was looking forward to some place new with good food. I wasn’t impressed.
Great dinner. Great service
Great good and service. Dining at Dolphin Seafood is always a positive experience.
Decent food. Nothing special. Nice service.
The swordfish dinner was very good. The cheesecake & whip cream was excellent!
Nice Sunday late lunch. Food was very good, huge lobster salad roll. Clam stripes very good. Good parking.
We wanted to try a different restaurant with good seafood and a kids menu. The menu shown on open table was not the same menu offered and had mostly fried or cream-based fish dishes, neither of which were appealing to a family who wanted a seafood restaurant to eat healthy meal.
The bread was not fresh, which should have been a sign of what was to come. Crab cakes were mediocre at best, small in size and just okay tasting. Due to an allergy we skipped the scallops and bacon that typically topped them and were charged the same price. I ordered a “champagne shrimp dish” that arrived in a cream sauce bath, which wasn’t part of the menu description as I typically avoid creamy sauces. The dish came with salty rice pilaf and a vegetable medley on par with what you’d get at an Applebee’s both in appearance and taste.
The kids got pasta with sauce and a cheese pizza from the kids menu. Both portions were bigger than the adult shrimp entree, and while the kids didn’t finish their meals they didn’t look good to the adult who was still hungry after eating the 5 shrimp, picking at the vegetables and leaving the salty rice on the plate.
I left wishing I had cooked and can say with certainty it would have been better.
The food was tasty but the portion of lobster my husband got was very small.
I hope it was an “off” night. Took a long time to even get water, wrong meal came twice. And had to be recreated from scratch each time.
Meeting the parents of your son’s serious girlfriend is a monumental event and Dolphin Seafood was the perfect place. The parents were from out of town and wanted lobster. The location was convenient for all parties.
Everything was great! Bartender a bit overwhelmed but still a good meal and value.
Food was delicious, nice atmosphere and our server was great ! Will definitely go back 👍
We were there at 4:30 so quiet but still quiet when more people came at 6:00. Well spaced tables. Excellent food. Solid service but, waiter did not ask if we wanted dessert. We did not, so it was okay but being asked would have been nicer. Just dropped check. Small wine list but good selection. House salad is an up charge with entree.
Overall an enjoyable experience
Hadn’t been to The Dolphin in a long time. It is still great . Food was delicious and cocktails were too!
The experience was wonderful! Good and service were great and we were allowed to enjoy our food and drink without being rushed. It was so nice to be back at one of our favorite restaurants.
Very enjoyable dining experience with good food and service, had Jake as our server. Well appointed restaurant, plan to return.
I had the blackened catfish and my wife had the sole a la Pedro. We both enjoyed our dinner and would recommend coming here. The service was excellent.
The food was mediocre. The Sole al Pedro was mainly stuffing with very little flavor and a very small amount of actual fish - covered in a greasy sauce.
This was our first visit to the restaurant. With so many other seafood options close by, I do not expect to return.
I’ve been dining at the dolphin for over ten years. It never disappoints!
