The place has potential and the staff were friendly and attentive on arrival. However, in the end we waited roughly an hour for our starters. There was a mix up in the kitchen with our docket and the floor manager did not realize that we were waiting for that long until we pointed it out to him. Instead he was chatting with another table and it was difficult to even catch his attention. This was pretty frustrating and we still had not had our starters by 10 pm (we arrived at 9). They did provide us with two complementary coffee tequila shots and a glass of wine each, which we were grateful for. However, I would rather have a prompt service and be drinking on a full stomach. There was a slight mix up with our mains as well. But in the end they arrived on time. During eating our mains, the music was turned up to an absurd volume for a few minutes at one point. Strange. When we asked for the bill we realized they had not taken off the service charge. When we asked for the service charge to be taken off, there was a delay and apparently the manager was too busy. In the end the waitress used her initiative and we just paid without the service charge. Overall, the night never really recovered from the big blunder made at the start of the evening. Perhaps I agree with an earlier review which suggests to postpone a visit until they have polished their service.

We were prepared to be underwhelmed by the Dolls House just because we've been disappointed by a couple of other Peckham eateries but were more than pleasantly surprised by the food and service. We got there at 7pm and were the only diners for a while but it got busier later on. Staff were pleasant and attentive and service was quite quick. Cocktails are 2-4-1 before 8pm so we had a couple of delicious concoctions each before having a couple of interesting New Zealand IPAs with our meal. Only disappointment was the poor choice of dessert - only 1 choice which neither of us fancied. Still, kept the calories down and we really didn't need a pud anyway! Highlight was the steak tartare which was about the best I've had. Portions were generous and carefully presented. We'll definitely be returning.

Another great Sunday lunch from the Dolls House. Lovely food, beautifully cooked and great service. The food and the staff are absolutely the best thing about this place. My only bug bear is the Dining Room, which is very minimalist and spartan - deliberate no doubt, but it does lack atmosphere and ambiance and as a result it doesn't encourage you to linger too long - again, perhaps a deliberate strategy. The seating in the bar is much more comfortable and relaxing. The outdoor area could really do with a bit of make-over, nothing OTT but a few comfy chairs and umbrellas or awning perhaps (on blistering hot days it can be uncomfortable sitting outside). I wish them a lot of luck and success in this venture and particularly as it is virtually on our doorstep!

The Dolls House could be great, but there are so many fantastic (and reasonably-priced) restaurants and bars in Peckham now, poor places just won't survive. If it doesn't sort out the food and service, it'll sink. There was an issue as soon as we arrived - my boyfriend wanted to start a tab, but the staff use the computerised till system to do this, which was down, so they couldn't. My boyfriend suggested he give them his credit card but the staff refused this. Eventually it was sorted out, but it took a while and just seemed a bit odd - the staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing. Although our waitress was nice, she seemed very flustered and kept forgetting to bring us the drinks menu. There were loads of staff running around and the place was by no means busy. My cocktails were good, but that's the only positive thing I have to say. My boyfriend had a glass of house red, which was not good. The waitress advised us that it was delicious, but it tasted like it had been watered down. And it wasn't cheap. The food was absolutely terrible - not mediocre, awful. I had a marrow burger with chips, fennel coleslaw and onion rings. The burger was just weird - it tasted like the chef has stuffed it full of tarragon, which really didn't work. The bun was stale. The chips were pale, floppy and anaemic. The onion rings hadn't been seasoned before being deep-fried. The coleslaw was badly conceived and executed - I don't know what they'd dressed it with, but it tasted like pure vinegar. My boyfriend had poussin with chips. The poussin was actually disgusting. It was oily yet completely flavourless, and it arrived with a gravy to pour over the top, which seemed to be almost entirely made of fat. We didn't complain because we didn't want to upset our already put-upon waitress, but we should have done. All in all, not a good experience. It thinks it's far better than it is. My advice: go there for a cocktail, but don't eat. And don't drink the wine.

Went for dinner Saturday night, bad service started with a bolshy waiter making it unnecessarily hard to sit at an empty table. Cocktails were very nice, but had to quite a long while since not enough experienced staff. Half the food we wanted was apparently sold out by 8.30! Would have helped if waiter told us that beforehand. Kitchen not ready for orders of food on menu then. What food we had was nice. So wait till they sort out their teething problems. Had to ask 3 times for bill when we wanted to go. Finally got it via the same stressed rude waiter who seared us. Lovely manageress apologised for our bad treatment, kindly gave us a free drink, but still really put off eating there as a result. Will just go for drinks once their staff more experienced. Not recommend yet! Many better places to go in Peckham!!

This place is really a bar with a dining area perched on the side, so don't go here if you want a quiet intimate dinner. There's pumping music and a good lively atmos, so if that's what you're after then you won't be disappointed. Pleasant surroundings and adequate food.
