I ordered the trout and was sadly disappointed. When told that the fish was farmed rather than wild caught (note: it is common practice for fish farms to use antibiotics to prevent the spread of disease), I went against my gut and requested it anyway. That was a mistake. The flavor was much more fishy than wild-caught trout. In addition, the blue corn-piñon crust was soggy (as were the sweet potato fries) and there was no evidence that any spices–even salt or pepper—had been used in the breading. Pre-pandemic, you could be assured of a flavorful and quality meal at Doc's no matter what you chose on the menu. Now, my confidence is shaken; this is the second time in the past six months that I've ordered something and found it lacking in flavor and of dubious quality. As a local, I'd love to be able to support Doc's but not at the cost of my tastebuds or pocketbook.

Delicious meal in historic hotel. Excellent food and service. We had the nachos, cheese enchiladas and tamale dish. We were all pleased with our choice.

Chilean bass was a very small piece and very greasy. The mashed potatoes were cold and broccolini nor cooked at all. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I was brought the trout. Not much better. Skin still on and very thin, small cut.

Food was good, service was good.To drink, I had the hot mama, which was delicious! And the cowboy Buddha - also delicious. The pork tamale is excellent, and so was the chile relleno. The ribeye fajitas are ok, nothing to write home about. Don’t order the tres leches - it was disappointing, but the peanut butter/chocolate pie was delightful, as was the Lava cake.

The blue corn chile rellenos were the worst I have ever tasted and the most expensive, at $30. The beef burrito was good, but at $30 it was also overpriced. The margaritas were excellent. The restaurant is located in a historic building in the heart of Taos, which is what this restaurant has going for it.

Salads were huge for a dinner salad. One could be shared. I had enchiladas and they were tasty. The beef in my husband's selection was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. Not overly spicy. The Key Lime pie was very good.

Green chile cheese burgers, ordered medium rare were well done and the Hawaiian buns toasted to being too dry almost crumbled. Not many green chiles either. Enchiladas were actually good.

We love Doc’s. We have dinner here whenever we visit Taos. Check their hours not open every night. We split the Chili rellenos platter ( they are the best we have ever had) beet salad margs and carrot cake for dessert. Our waiter Michael was very personable and attentive especially since he had a lot of customers. Sometimes there is music in the bar.

Whatever happened to Taos. Sad but true, it is slowly giving it up. Get some leadership in town, Get everyone involved. Get Santa Fe out of their monopoly position on the Train. And host some separate events that will bring the tourism business back to town. But most of all, get some advice from some experts who know this ground!

Everything was fine with ambiance service drinks. But the “filet steak” promoted in the Carne Asada meal I had was tough and chewy like a very cheap cut of Chuck steak. Wife’s Chili Rellenos dish tasted like burnt corn meal crust on the Rellenos. The chef really should not skimp on the food ingredient quality.

My husband and I spent an evening at the Taos Inn for our March birthdays! We received an email about their restaurant, Doc Martin's, that they were going to have live music, so we made reservations! SO glad we did! The blue corn crusted trout was spot on! My husband said his tamales were excellent, the best he has ever had! The drinks were so unusual, and local, such as the green chile infused martini or the pepper infused tequila in the El Chupa Cabra! I have to add that our servers at both the restaurant (Daniela) and bar were phenomenal! Daniela had the entire restaurant on her own. (I'm sure due to employee challenges all towns are facing.) She rocked it! Not once did we have to wait or try to find her. She and her co-workers were the best I've ever seen, especially since Covid. DEFINITELY will be going back!!
