Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Doc Martin's offers a "fabulous evening" dining experience with "excellent food and service" in a "fun and casual environment." Standout dishes include the pine nut crusted trout, chili rellenos, and elk chili. The restaurant's charming ambiance and "exceptional" service are highlights, though some guests noted inconsistencies with menu availability.

From the moment we sat down at our table we felt unwelcome. We had an 8:45 reservation and were told when we walked in that we were told we were the last table. We sat down and our waiter immediately came over and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink or an appetizer. We said we needed time to look at the menu. When he came back within 90 seconds he took our drink and app order and we said we didn’t know about dinner yet. He was visibly annoyed and said he needed our order. It was very obvious he wanted us in and out as quickly as possible. We quickly reviewed the menu and placed our order. Our unpleasant waiter never came back to fill our water. The table next to us paid their bill around 9 and their server didn’t push them out the door like ours was doing. I only ordered one glass of wine as I didn’t dare try to get a second drink. This was our first time in NM and unfortunate this was a pretty disappointing experience and now a core memory of our trip. We were out of the restaurant by 9:27 pm having sat down at 8:45. Why do you accept a reservation at 8:45 if you are going to rush us out the door? My husband who is much more patient and understanding than I am was beyond frustrated stating this was one of his worst dining experience. I wanted to leave the server a note on the signed bill with a generous 10% tip (he deserved 0) but refrained. I am sure he complained about our crappy tip but rest assured he got more than he should have. I hope you can deliver this feedback. He needs to be better or find a new job.

Our service was great but the food was lacking. We ordered a wedge of lettuce and the dressing should have been blue cheese but tasted like it came out of jar. We both ordered the blue corn crusted trout. My wife’s came raw. Mine was cooked fine but utterly tasteless. I should have sent it back. We did send my wife’s back and they made a new plate but now it was overcooked. The waitstaff did all they could to salvage the night including knocking off 30% off her entree, singing happy birthday to me and no charge for the carrot cake, which was very good.

The only thing that detracted from my experience was what I consider really important - the first contact with reception/host. I do not feel the person who greeted me is the best emissary for your business - she was not even, gracious or especially friendly. On the exit, your person was available to make eye contact, thank me for being a guest, and wish me a good evening. But, nothing. (My reservation was early and it was not super busy yet, so that wouldn’t serve as a reason to me.) Youth? Inexperience? Otherwise, the food - trout - was great. My server Rance was outstanding. Thank you.

Our waiter was inexperienced and continually came to the table to go over the order. Then he neglected to bring our credit card back to the table. Cost us $48 to get to and from the hotel to get the credit card ——on a bus tour. This employee needs additional training. Very unfortunate since our trout was delicious

From the outside, this restaurant appears charming, idyllic. Live music was playing right outside the entrance in the nearby lobby- many people were enjoying that. After being seated, everything went downhill. Our waiter was nice, no issue with that. But attention was another story. Our party of 7 had multiple empty glasses during most of the meal, we had to chase him down to get refills. Very little attention in general to if we needed anything or to notice we had food taking forever or missing. Our food came out in 3 separate waves over a total of at least 15-20 minutes. Kids grill cheeses were the last wave, no way those took an extra 20 minutes. One was burned, one was barely toasted. My drink was a margarita and very good. Wedge salad was slightly above average, fajitas were just ok. No one else liked their food. Table next to use got their whole meal comped because their table of two took so long. We didn’t ask for anything like that, we just wanted to be done after our meal also took forever. So food was mediocre, service was terrible, meal took forever. I would suggest just getting a drink and enjoying the music in the lobby instead.

We had a reservation, we were seated immediately. We got drinks after a 15 minute wait. We ordered after another 5 minutes. We got our salads after 10 minutes. We got our entrées after one hour. So while it could have been a great experience since the food was very good, it turned out not being so great because it was an hour and a half of sitting before we got our meal. The manager did discount our dinner by 10%.

Thanks to Dylan, our server for dinner (after having an excellent breakfast that morning with Damian, our server). What a fabulous evening to reconnect with our-of-state friends over a delicious meal (including dessert).

We decided to go a little earlier than our 8.30 and were met by Damien, who was our server. Friendly, professional and a fount of local knowledge, he did a great job of keeping our coffee refilled and ensuring we were happy with our Blue Corn Pinon pancakes, which were excellent. A great breakfast....
