We had a great waiter - professional! Two of us ordered hamburgers. I didn’t think about it til later. He didn’t ask how we wanted the burger cooked. It was good. I wouldn’t say outstanding. Also, French fries were O.K.
We had Brussels Sprouts as a Starter. I thought they were a bit too crunchy. Also, thought there should have been more Parmesan cheese.
It was an O.K. meal, but I didn’t go away thinking “I can’t wait to go back”.
My wife's fish was excellent. I ordered the Django moulles. The mussels were on the small side and tasteless, although the broth was tasty.
Everything was great. Much better experience than you get trying to get a table at Centro!
Great restaurant with amazing staff and delicious food. A must for anyone visiting Des Moines.
Salmon Salad - salmon was dried out and over cooked.
Waiter appeared to be either over booked or just didn’t pay attention to his tables as he should.
We went for happy hour. Were seated at a high top table as requested. Had half dozen oysters and six shrimp which were so good. Then topped it off with a cheese tray. Every thing was delicious. Place is so vibrant.
Food and service were great. Made a special night feel magical.
Great service. Great food. Will be back soon.
I've been to Django multiple times; both locations. I never tire if the wait staffs attention to detail, theirs and the kitchens willingness to go the extra mile to give the customer what they want. I had escargot for app, striped bass to my meal both were excellent. My dinner companion had soup and Crab Louie salad. Simply the best seafood in Des Moines
Great food, wine, and service. A wonderful Des Moines restaurant!
Our server wasn’t as attentive as we are accustom to at your restaurant. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and I had to ask for a chiller and then he forgot and I had to ask a second time meanwhile it was getting warm, especially because it was kind of warm in there because of the hot outdoor temperature.
The Brussels sprouts were undercooked which was disappointing since they are one of my favorites.
Our meal was delicious! Service was fantastic. Had looked at the menu on line and was expecting to be able to order a sandwich but it was not on the “mid-day” menu. However the server asked and I was able to order a sandwich. It was great! One of us (4 of us) couldn’t get past the musty smell from it being an old building....? Could that be better neutralized?
We’ll be back! 😊
Service was a bit slow, food was great.
Django never fails to amaze. Quality food and service
One of our DSM go to restaurants. It was a very busy night as the DSM Art show was going on. We were seated at a table by the window. The place was very crowed and a little noisy. We split the hanger steak and it was wonderful and was just perfect for two. The tables for two are tight together and luckily we met a wonderful couple and had a delightful visit. Oh, and the bread is the best!
The service was great. I appreciate being able to bring in your own bottle of wine. The food was very good but I was very disappointed with the creme brûlée.
We've wanted to eat at the new iteration of Django for some time and finally made it. We started at the bar with a few raw oysters and some white wine. The service and feel were just right. Then we were shown to our table where Collin provided excellent service: attentive and friendly but not intrusive or overwhelming. We both enjoyed our meals immensely. We much prefer a reasonable amount of food well done rather than a large amount of mediocre food. Django is one of the many bright spots on a now vibrant Des Moines culinary map. Keep up the good work!
It was a bit loud and I like intimate ambiance of your previous location better.
The Coq au vin was outstanding. I will order it again next time.
Great!!! Server was excellent!
It was a really good experience. Definitely returning
Very nice place. Wonderful service. The location is nice to. Lovely ambiance.
We came for Valentine's day and decided we had to go back for another date night. First visit we were on the first level and the ambiance was very intimate. Second visit we were seated in the lofted area and the ambiance was lacking. It was loud and hard to hear across our table. Bread was served quickly and warm. Drinks came fast. Husband had three specialty oysters to start with and liked them all. I had the Coq Au Vin and my husband had the Bouillabaisse (same order both visits). Food was delicious and will keep us coming back for more.
The food was great! The noise level was high, making it tough to hear our soft-spoken server. We had to wait quite awhile for initial drinks and bread, but after that things came out in a very timely manner.
I found the noise level in the restaurant was very high. I could not hear the others at the table very well. I think the high ceilings contribute to it. The food was good. Loved the poutine but thought the mussels could use a bit more seasoning in the broth. The french bread was delicious. Service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable.
This new location is extremely loud. There were 3 of us and we had to shout to carry on a conversation. I knew this going in as I was there previously with 5 others and you could not hear the person next to you. This seems to be a trend with many of the new restaurants and I am not sure why they design them this way. We ordered oysters from the special menu. Since there was no price we asked the waitress and she said they were $1.25 Each. When the bill came we were charged $3 each. Big difference. The waitress did adjust the bill when we said something. My husband ordered a pasta dish that had prosciutto in it. Since we don’t eat pork he asked to not include it. When the entree came all the other ingredients were not included. It was a bowl of pasta and nothing else for $25. We were quite surprised and said something. The manager came over, apologized and did his best to rectify the entree. I had a salad and our friend ordered the Tuna Sandwich which were both fine. They did offer a free dessert for all the mess ups. I miss the old location. Much better ambiance, and the wait staff was better trained.
Would recommend but would suggest calling first for less busy times. This is certainly no longer the Django of old, especially for a romantic dinner for two. You can’t even have a conversation anymore. And they changed my favorite roasted chicken dish. Disappointed diners.
Not really a French restaurant but the food is pretty good.
The server was awesome. He made sure everything flowed perfectly. The food was AMAZING and filling. It made my wife and I’s 7th anniversary top notch.
Best "mac and chz" that I have ever had. And the onion soup was absolutely delicious. However, we waited an extremely long time for our first course. So long that the mgr comped it for us. He was great! The server charged me twice for my glass of prosecco and it wasnt served in the proper stemware. I will definitely go back again and again. I love Django!
Always good food but very noisy. Our waiter was perfectly attentive
We have been to Django many times at the previous location. This time was not as enjoyable for several reasons: 1. our waiter may have been new but certainly needs more training, 2. noise level was much too high at our table upstairs, we could hardly hear each other, 3. Hostess was on the phone when we arrived, and there were 3 groups lined up in a small space waiting to check in; someone should be watching the front to avoid this. We will go back but will request a table on the main level.
Poor experience with hostess. Half the first floor was empty but she said we had to sit upstairs because everything was reserved down. We trailed upstairs only to be seated next to 8 loud men eating. We couldn’t hear ourselves think!! Finally after complaining to three different
Employees we were asked by a young lady if we wanted to move down. We were given a table for 4. It was perfect!
My two 80 year old friends moved downstairs. With us.
The rest of the tables near us never filled up!! So much for all the reservations and by the way I had a reservation also.
I come to Django very frequently but I won’t be back soon. Young hostess should be fired,
I would fire the young hostess - poor judgement and unfriendly.
As for the steak salad - too much lettuce and just. Doesn’t compare to Centro steak salad!
Went there with a friend. Great service! Great food! So glad you guys came back. Always loved it and love the new place!
Family birthday celebration. Food & service were quite good. Noise level was unpleasant - think it is the acoustics of the room. Otherwise, we had a great experience.
Great service and great food!!
I don’t love to leave reviews other than “I love this place”, but most experiences since the move have been underwhelming, and we basically had to force our server to even take our order on this outing. I hope the team can make some improvements.
Great dining experience, Kristin made the evening even better!
It was our 26th wedding anniversary and we requested a high top in the bar area. We were seated immediately at a high top table. One of the bartenders waited on us immediately and kept an eye on our water and drinks. Brought fresh got bread and butter and it was sooooo good. Everything came as ordered and at a perfect pace. For sure one of our "go to" places.
