The Syracuse-based barbecue phenomenon plunked a sprawling roadhouse with all the familiar back-road accoutrements into an abandoned meat factory. Unfinished wood-beamed ceiling, burlap bag curtains, scattered country bric-a-brac, and an enthusiastic greeting feel worlds away from the city. The roll call of devotees includes area families, couples on casual dates and groups of RPI students.

The Food
Though fried green tomatoes and punchy boiled shrimp start things off right, the smell of smoking meats quickly adjusts the focus. The smokey-sweet pork ribs gently release from the bone and the Texas brisket, a touch dry, gets a lift from a topping of tangy cured jalapeños and a dash of hot sauce. It's even safe to venture from red meat with the truly moist and tender chicken, brined then smoked for deep flavor. With the exception of the cakey corn bread, sides keep pace, with tangy Creole potato salad and sweetened baked beans the standouts.

I Love Dinosaur Barbeque. Everything is yummy. I order Tres Ninos and mu husband gets a combo dinner of sausage and deunken shrimp. The cheese cake is to die for.

Food is always good here and you get a good amount for your money. Surprised at how fast service was for mothers' day dinner. Gave us a free dessert since it was a birthday dinner as well. Server was excellent.

Typically we sit at the bar when here, but being that we were with family this time we opted for a table. We had a reservation and on a busy Sunday we were seated ahead of the reservation time. Everyone we interacted with from the hostess to waitress to food runners; each person was smiling, polite and courteous. The waitress took extra time to explain the various sauces and offered her recommendations to other menu items. The food was on point, arrived promptly and everyone left full!

Dinosaur BBQ was as good as our friends had told us. This was our 1st visit and the food lived up to the reviews, atmosphere was country and the wait staff was great, Nick was our server and was very helpful. We plan on returning very soon.

I made an online reservation for 2 at 6pm, we showed up a little early and were able to be seated. The food was amazing and the staff was awesome. I recommend this restaurant

The service and ambiance were great. Disappointed with the meat and sides we received- lots of choices but they didn't have much flavor. Not like our experience at the Rochester venue. One positive in the food area- the fried green tomatoes and dipping saw were fantastic.

Dinosaur has lost something over the last couple of years. It's looking and feeling old and not like the funky place we have enjoyed both in Troy and Syracuse.

If you're going with 4 or more with decent appetites, order the family BBQ platter. We were a party of 5 and had plenty to eat and enough leftover for dinner the next day. And the food was excellent!
