Tamburlaine’s bustling Bar and Restaurant draws a crowd from early morning until the early hours. A dramatic carved marble bar takes centre stage in the large, elegant Brasserie-style dining room with its accents of soft leather, gleaming brass and salvaged timber. Menus are constantly changing but food is always simple, seasonal, locally sourced and prepared to the exacting standards of our Head Chef. Fine wines, chilled champagne and craft beers are always in season. As are Tamburlaine’s legendary cocktails, prepared by our resident mixologist. The genteel grandeur of Garden Room with its own luxuriant terrace makes it the venue for discreet meetings and quiet conversations. Lush planting, ornate Victorian wallpaper and gorgeous silk velvet sofas set the scene for light lunches, sharing plates and traditional afternoon tea. Guests looking for quiet time to work or relax tend to gather in The Library.

We came with a voucher from Love Cambridge restaurant week, we were met by your lovely maitre de who took our coats, and topped our water up all evening, meal was very good, nice atmosphere, not too noisy, a lovely evening had myself and 3 friends , thank you all, hope to come again soon

Thank you for a lovely lunch, glad we came at a quieter time. Lovely to practice some french, while enjoying the delicious food. A word to the wise, parking around the hotel is challenging - recommend on-street parking (RingGo App). We parked at the station at it cost £12.70! as it's restricted to whole-day parking only! The parking cost nearly as much as a 3-course lunch menu! (not the fault of the hotel - but very annoying). I would recommend it - not explored other parts of the hotel, be good to know if there's some kind of rooftop view or terrace.

Had a lovely meal and the pea soup was particularly delicious. Must add that we were dining on special offer - 3 courses for £15 during Cambridge Restaurant Week. Excellent!

The dining room itself and the staff were all lovely. Unfortunately for a set menu for two people, the service was really slow - we ended up having two courses of the three as nothing particularly took our fancy from the dessert menu, and this took two hours. Luckily we enjoy each other's company! The food was ok and presented really well. I can see that everything was done with good intentions, I just think there is room for improvement - for example we chose to have a cocktail after dinner and the bar was being sprayed with cleaning fluid while we drank our £14 cocktails, so the air smelt and tasted like bleach, which took away from the experience somewhat. Maybe cleaning could be restricted to the end of the evening, or a different cleaning fluid could be used? My dirty knife was dropped on me when my starter was taken away, I think this was really because of the spacing of the tables rather than fault of the server - we were in a corner which was hard for the servers to get to. Perhaps a table could be removed for more space for service? We asked for a refill of our waters, but were forgotten. Perhaps a jug on the table would be a good solution? The 'discretionary' 12.5% tip is on the bill and is typed into the card machine without asking, so you feel awkward to amend it. I think this should be discretionary, as it would be in other restaurants, especially for a table of two.

Unfortunately the service doesn’t live up to the price. Although the food was excellent. Just don’t order the carrot cake - a few crumbs on a plate!

The menu has changed from the one published on your site. 4 main meals not available on menu at 830pm. All the food was delivered either before first drinks or without sides. The team tried to support but got it horribly wrong.
