I NEVER write reviews, but the experience was so poor.... I don't know how this place can have 4 stars on OpenTable. It really makes me doubt all of the ratings on OpenTable.
First off, I think it was cooler outside than it was inside the restaurant. You could actually see the fog from the cool air blowing in from the 2 AC units, and the condensation was dripping from the grates into the restaurant. Not very appetizing. The whole place is dirty. These two things should have been enough to get me to leave, but my wife and I tried to make the best of it.
First up, the bread. It tasted like 2 day old Walmart Italian Bread, served with a small cup of vegetable oil for dipping. I had one bite and put it down. It wasn't worth the carbs. Next up, Portuguese Clams. The clams were as tough as shoe leather. Needless to say, the rest of the meal was no better. Service was slow. The waitress was slow. Unfortunately, not much positive to say about this place. Definitely won't be back.
My family and I were in Warwick for kid's soccer tournamant. We travelled up on Friday and decided to go out for a nice meal before a busy weekend.
What a nice treat! So it was confusing as place has 2 names: Dimare (which i guess is for the seafood counterside) and Maddie's (which i guess is for the restaurant/bar side) though both use same room/place. We actually ate outside as they have a few iron tables and chairs with umbrellas to watch the passing cars.
So the good news is that they have full service bar with several specialty cocktails. The great news is you can see for yourself all the great and fresh seafood they have to offer like the oysters in the seafood counter which we started with. I had fantastic snow crab legs with coconut rice which also comes with a crabcake and fresh spinach. My wife and young daughter smartly split the zuppa de pesche. My other daughter had eggplant parm which she enjoyed with pasta. All entrees came with salad. Kids had homemade tiramisu and chocolate mousse. All of that with a cocktail and a bottle of wine was very affordable. (They do have a nice kids menu but mine decided to order off regular menu.
If we are anywhere up that wayagain, we will not need to research where to go! Very homey place and many locals were in and out grabbing food to bring and/or cook at home.
Ac was not sufficient
Service was super slow
Table next to us sat after we ordered, was served and was finished before our meals came!
Our server never came to tell us things we're delayed or anything . When the food finally arrived after an hour and a half ( no rolls or bread) it was properly prepared but we were so frustrated it was difficult to enjoy.
No apology or offer to improve the experience.
First time dining there and it lived up the the reviews I had read. Friendly staff, great food and service. Reasonable prices. Good place to enjoy a relaxing dinner with friends. Will definitely return.
Wilted salad, tasteless bread but entrees were very good. There are some great Italian bakeries out there with a little forethought better bread could be had. Plus, spice up the olive oil accompanying the bread with roasted garlic and spices. Just a little more effort on these little things make a giant difference...
It was a hot afternoon and the restaurant was almost as hot inside. The A/C was not working well so we left and went somewhere else cooler. Too bad since it looked like an interesting place. It was impossible to rate as required since we never had the food.
The food on the seafood platter was overly spicy. The mussels were in a sauce that was too sweet and the Caesar salad had way too much dressing on it. Our waitress was fine.
This place will not disappoint. The freshest seafood around !
We went there tonight and the service and the food was awesome! Cozy, neighborhood eatery, no blaring music...we actually were able to hear each other speak...The food was amazingly delicious and not overpriced! The service was so efficient and the waitresses were so friendly! Really, really liked it there a lot!! Such a gem!!!
Our first time at Maddie's Bar and Grill. We ordered the seared scallops for entrees and the clams casino for an appetizer, both were fantastic. Fresh and hot. I am not sure what vibe they are trying to achieve, but we did feel that the overall atmosphere didn't jive with the food quality/price. Our waitress was friendly, but again the tattooed arms didn't jive with the food/price, but did with the atmosphere.
We have been many times. We love the food and the service is excellent. We will return again and again.
Brought my kids this time, awesome as usual and we will be back again soom
The reservation was meaningless- we arrived for our 6:45 reservation and were told there was a 20 minute wait for a table! We had limited time so we chose to eat at the bar.
The bartender was friendly and attentive. The meals took a very long time to arrive. The food was good but not great. It did arrive hot.
Overall was a great place, with amazing food nothing was a disappointment. Everything was cooked to perfection.
We decided to try the renamed Maddie’s after numerous slow service dinners at DiMare. Unfortunately, service has only gotten worse.
We had a 6:15 pm reservation for the two of us and our 6 and 9 year old grandkids. Our grandson’s fish fry appeared at 7:45 after many apologies from the overworked waitress. The she crab soup, lobster roll and halibut were delicious. My husband with disappointed with the red clam sauce: old clams, soupy tasteless sauce.
Maddie’s is also offering prix fixe 5-course dinners and this may slow the kitchen. It appeared that the staff consisted of a bar tender, one waitress and a hostess with whom we could not even place a drink order. (We were comped a beer and glass of wine for the 90 minute food delay).
We are very sorry that DiMare/Maddie’s seems unable to provide reasonable service.
We like to support local restaurants and hope we learn that they have improved the service and kitchen so we might someday return.
Great Mothers Day meal at Dimare. Friendly staff, great service and lovely touch of chocolate covered strawberry for the Moms! Will be back to try more fresh seafood!
The seafood was delicious. The drink menu is creative. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for seafood.
Food is very good, the service was some what slow seemed like we waited 15 minutes before waiter came to table, Then the food took quite a while to get to us, while we were waiting for the food our drinks were empty and no waiter in sight.
A bit insulting when they report I was not there, should be more alert
Could be a 5/5 but we found the food quite bland. Little stuff like no garlic in the pasta dishes, overload of breadcrumbs in the crab cakes. We’d love to come here more often and will for some items like the studies, clam chowder and other local dishes...but it needs some work on the more intricate entrees.
Delicious and fresh seafood with a huge range of options; great service and friendly staff
Fantastic fresh seafood at an affordable price with great staff and beautiful decor.
First time here, met another couple whom had been there previously. Was a very quiet night (maybe due to impending snow). Food was great, service was great and was very quiet. Would definitely return and will add this spot to our rotation of restaurants. Hidden gem!!
First time here and it was awesome!! We will be back for sure
Very few tables so we had to sit at the bar. Met a young couple and had great conversation. Food was excellent; good quality.
Food was okay. Not as good as in the past. Calamari was overdressed and the crab cakes were overdone. Main portion of the meal was better. Clam linguini was very good, blacken shrimp tacos were overly seasoned, but okay if you like spicy. The fried clam strips were the best, tender, lightly breaded very good.
Basically just a fishmarket that happened to have a few tables. Food was good but still little pricey for what you get.
The food was excellent...the service was friendly & quick....the restaurant was immaculate....and the Santa Clause was great!!! and they treated my 2 7 year old granddaughters like royalty!
Warm and inviting staff made us feel very welcome. Fisherman's plate is huge and shareable. Good burgers.
Was our 1st time at DiMare. We were seated in a quiet, cozy corner. It was very nicely decorated for the holiday. Our waitress was great. She had all tables to herself, as well as the bar and was hustling, friendly, and personable. We got our drinks pretty quickly. The Half price sangria (Tuesday) was a nice unexpected surprise. Our table had white and it was well made. Not too strong, nor weak.
Our dinner was good. We ordered chicken parm, fish and chip, and pasta with butter & meatballs with sauce. You can tell it's homemade. My only "negative" opinion is that the chicken was slightly over cooked and was thick (not pounded) so it was a little chewy and dry, but fine enough to eat. The tomato sauce was mild on spice, which I like. Portion was appropriate. Price was too as the meal comes with a petite salad and homemade foccacia for the table. The fish and chip was great. I also tried the white chowder and loved the taste. I don't like a very clammy tasting chowder, so it was perfect for me. My favorite was the red cabbage Cole slaw. The homemade meatballs were pretty good too. I'd go back again.
You can tell Tlc goes into this little gem of a restaurant.
My swordfish was very good but my wife's fried seafood platter was disappointing...
Met with a group of 11. Table was ready, wait-staff was friendly. Food was good quality especially for price.
Everything was wonderful!
Excellent soups, shrimp tacos and lobster rolls.
We frequently dine at DiMare's and Everything is Outstanding as usual
Limited selection, but very fresh seafood. Nice desserts.
Very disappointed in the quality of food this restaurant serves. We went during restaurant week and the menu looked great. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. The food was just not good. We were with another couple and we all agreed that would be the first and last time we dine there.
Took our friends from N.H. to DiMare's because they wanted good seafood. DiMare's did not
disappoint. Everything was excellent. Our server (ID #3) was the best! We'll be back whenever
seafood is on our mind.
Lobster mac'n cheese & angry Apple salmon are my two favorites
Overall it was OK nothing special. The salad was very small dressing was excellent. The portions were modest but good quality. The drinks were excellent service was terrific. I would not rush back because the place overall was OK but not terrific.
