Wow! The hostess, waitress, and manager were so pleasant and polite. You could tell they were genuinely enjoying their work. We sat outside on the deck where we had a nice view and listened to some great live music. Then came the food. I could grow old, fat, and happy just eating dinner here every night. Get the tater tots with the lavender ranch!
Thank you so much for your spectacular rating and review. You are correct, out team genuinely enjoy their work. Who wouldn't... working with all the energy and passion of the students learning Hospitality and Culinary skills! I also recommend the sweet potato tots. They are super delicious. Make Today Great! The Overlook at the college campus was amazing. Food was good.
The views are spectacular! The food and drinks were great. Bananas Foster as desert was fun and yum!!
Thank you Lorrie! So great to see you enjoyed your evening! I too think the Bananas Foster is "fun and yum"! Stay Awesome! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
The food was nicely presented, but average. The server was slightly aggressive, which was weird. The view and the outdoor dining space were really lovely. I would come here for drinks and an appetizer, but probably not for dinner.
I am very sorry to see you were disappointed. I would love to hear more about how your server was slightly aggressive. I could use this as a teaching moment, but only if I know what happened. Please give me a call directly at 970-822-4808. I hope to hear from you. Respectfully, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Recommendations from wait staff were great and so was the food. The rooftop is perfect.
Thank you so much Leslie! Our servers do know what is popular, and I'm glad to see you agree! Please come back and dine with us again! Stay Awesome! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Great venue for a celebratory dinner. The food is unique and enticing. The service is excellent and the ambiance reflects that of fine dining in a big city.
Thank you AngiP! We have heard many times that it feels like dining in a big city, and it is nice to see you agree. I'm glad to hear you received excellent service with unique and enticing food. We do appreciate your business and hope to see you again. Make Today Great! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
This is a relatively new place, so one expects there might be a few wrinkles, but overall a very pleasant place to dine with friends. Our main issue was that there were several dishes and one cocktail that the kitchen/bar could not prepare because they were out of necessary ingredients. Not unusual to encounter this once, but to have 4 separate items be out of stock at peak dinner hour seems a bit strange. Service and atmosphere were great. Food was good, but there is room for refinement. The complimentary "amuse bouche" we were served was described as a preview of the flavors that formed the focal point of the menu, but over the course of the evening those flavors were not apparent in our food. The meals were well prepared and appealing to the eye. The elk burger was cooked as requested, juicy, and flavorful, but the accompaniments - gruyere, grilled onions, and garlic aioli - didn't, in my view, really add much to the dish. The "stacked" tamale was interesting, but the bison filling was more like stew than a southwestern-style tamale filling. Very tasty and savory, but not characteristic of what I'd expect to find in a tamale. The dish would also have benefitted from an element of acid / crunchy texture - the tangy corn salsa that came with the amuse bouche, for example. The papusas appetizer was delicious, as were the cocktails, so no complaints on those. We look forward to returning for another dinner and trying out lunch at Devil's Kitchen, and seeing how the restaurant develops over time.
Bar service was outstanding. We were seated promptly and greeted by our server immediately. Other than server needing better guidance on wine service everything was good related to service. My husband‘s monstrous pile of jasmine rice so far exceeded the size of his steak it just unbalanced the plate visually. Loved their artichoke and potato appetizer.
Thank you Sandy! You make some very good points, and you can be sure they will be shared with Chef and Staff. I'm sure glad you enjoyed the artichoke and potato appetizer. Please come back and dine with us again. Warm regards, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Good food, beautiful setting. Enjoyed the waitstaff - students at Colorado Mesa University.

What a fantastic and delicious experience! Ambience could not have been better on a beautiful Colorado fall night with a wonderful acoustic musician playing on the deck outside. I brought my mother here as a special treat to see the new Maverick and Devil's Kitchen and we were both so impressed. Bison Tamale Stack and Salmon were the best, and a number of great local wine selections to perfectly complement. We ate at the bar and bartender (forgot her name) was attentive and friendly despite being incredibly busy! Looking forward to coming back soon. Kudos to all involved in this new culinary pearl here in Grand Junction.
Thank you so much for your fantastic review. I am so happy to see you brought your mother on a perfect fall evening. Morgan Crouse was the wonderful acoustic musician, and we love having her perform! The Bison Tamale Stack is a fan favorite! I do hope we will see you again on a future dining adventure! Warm regards, Tammy Anderson General Manager Hotel Maverick
Good food decent service, rather bland, clinical atmosphere.

Amazing view of our valley and the food is good. Service was good. I liked the French press coffee.
This is an amazing place with an incredible menu. I only had the appetizers because they looked so good. I will definitely be coming back to try the main courses. Also they a really creative and delicious cocktail menu. Definitely a hidden gem in the valley and the only restaurant with a rooftop view of the monument. Outside seating is also available when the weather permits
Service wasn’t all that good, the shrimp primavera was bland but still okay. Overall, it was pretty good.
Thank you for your review and feedback. Our food should never be bland, and I will share your comments with our Food and Beverage/Culinary staff. Thank you for giving us a try. I do hope you will give us another chance. Warm regards, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick

Gorgeous view! Welcoming staff. The food was good and presented nicely.
Slope summer salad - crisp fruity and delicious!
Burger trio - meat lacked flavor, but fries and pickle were great!
Sweet potato pupusas - tasty sweet/salty round thin tamale
Bananas foster - I’ve had many beautifully presented decadent mouthwatering presentations of this dessert. This fell far from the mark. Not to mention the scratched tephlon pan😳
Bacon donuts - warm fun dish!
Bellini - Candy sweet
Red wine blend- yummy and $6!
Overall, we would go again for the view, welcoming attentive staff and ambience.

The food was interesting, but lacked proper seasoning. I don't use a lot of salt and pepper myself, so to find that the seasoning was lacking was a bummer.
Thank you for your review. I will be sure to share your comments with our culinary students and Chef. Warm regards, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Great place, cool views, awesome food! Will go again!
Thank you for your awesome feedback and great rating. We look forward to your next dining experience. Happy Trails, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Devils Kitchen is my new go to in Grand Junction. The staff is always helpful and the food is delicious and such a wonderful change of pace. Everything from the salads to the donuts for dessert are fantastic! Thank you CMU for bringing the hospitality program to Grand Junction and this exciting new addition to GJ.
Thank you for your excellent rating and review. I can't wait to share with the entire food and beverage staff. We are also thankful to CMU for allowing us to work at this teaching hotel. The energy is infectious and helps to provide a wonderful atmosphere for everyone. Happy Trails, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Upon arriving to Devil's Kitchen, we were greeted by the welcoming hostess Kaycclynn, she asked what type of seating we would prefer and led us to our table. The views from our crystal clear floor to ceiling windows was impeccable. You can see the Colorado Mesa University Campus, Bookcliffs, Mount Garfield, and the Grand Mesa.
Our server Lauren took our orders promptly and brought us an appetizer. She checked on us frequently to see if we have any needs. I ordered the "Rich Boy" and my friend had the "Devil's Burger" both entrees are cooked to our liking, the sweet potato tots are to die for.
We had the chance to meet the manager Tracy, who was a lovely lady that told us more about the hotel, the restaurant, and the coffee shop on the first floor of Hotel Maverick.
Our experience at Devil's Kitchen was very pleasant from the beginning to the end, will definitely be returning soon.
Thank you for your terrific detailed review. Kaycclynn, Lauren and Tracy appreciate your kind words and look forward to your next visit. P.S. I also love the sweet potato tots! Warm regards, Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
A perfect dining experience! Great food, service and ambiance. There was some great live music - wonderful talent but not too loud. And I was grateful for a vegan entree option!
Thank you for your perfect rating and review. It looks like you dined the night our lovely Morgan Crouse sang. We are all very proud of her, and we appreciate you noticing that it was wonderful but not too loud. Make Today Great! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick

Food was really good and extremely reasonable price point wise. Views and ambiance on the roof top deck were great also. Overall I'd highly recommend this place and think it's a great addition to Grand Junction (which seems to have minimal more exciting dining options to be honest).
Great food and drinks! Service was great as well. Awesome view too!
Thank you for your great rating and feedback. Look like we hit all three marks! Make Today Great! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
Every time I eat at this place I’m blown away that we have a restaurant like this in Grand Junction. Highly recommended the deviled eggs for an appetizer and bananas foster for dessert. Our group went crazy over the lobster and waffles and the ceviche. YUMMY! Whatever you order, you won’t be disappointed!
Wow! We sure love your review and your recommendation. I hope we will see you again on a future dining experience. Stay Awesome! Tammy Anderson, General Manager Hotel Maverick
