   We love Desparados, it has great food and atmosphere. We visit this restaurant frequently. However on this occasion, we were disappointed. We made a booking through opentable, got the email confirmation, but on arrival at the restaurant were told that they did not have our booking. We were accommodated after a bit of an argument, but that soured the experience.

   Arrived and they didn’t have my booking, even though it was booked on the app and I had an email confirmation. They were full and the attitude to us turning up wasn’t very friendly. They gave us a table in the end but very unapologetic and made us feel like we had done something wrong. If it hadn’t been for a birthday I would have probably left and eaten somewhere else. Service was slow and inattentive. That said the good was good.

   Food was lovely! Was very packed which I quite liked as it added to the ambience but as our table was situated actually touching the bar my husband had people standing behind him and waiters leaning through a small gap in the people which was directly behind my husband collecting drinks and putting empty glasses on the bar. This did spoil it for him slightly as he was nudged several times. I would go again but wouldn't want to sit at that table. Service was ok but not over attentive as it was so busy.

   We weren't offered a dessert menu after our meal, when we asked for drinks it seemed like hard work, I ordered the beef and I got the chicken. Nothing particularly bad about this meal, just nothing particularly great either.

   We had a great time the staff were very friendly it was my Granddaughters 16th birthday they made a fuss of her she was delighted well done five stars!

   This was our first visit to Desparados, it was a last minute booking for an impromptu celebration on a Friday evening. Service was helpful and as attentive as can be expected, given that there were several parties and they were very busy. The food was the real surprise. Fresh, perfectly prepared and very tasty. The steak was excellent, exactly as requested. We usually go to another local Mexican and I must admit, I go for the ambiance rather than the food, bu Desparados gives you both. We will be back!
